Candy CTDB H7A1TBE-80 Integrated Condenser Tumble Dryer Motor Capacitor Fault

Thank you for the excellent instructions and video. It was a great help. My Candy tumble dryer was not drying the clothes. I stripped down the machine (like you did) and checked all the components, except the heat pump, and it all looked ok. There was tons of fluff in the machine - as you said, the seals are not very good. I rebuilt the machine (with several screws left over !) but the problem is still there. Might ebay it :). If there are any Candy engineers reading this, I would like to say that the tumble dryer is not maintenance friendly. It should be built so that it can be maintained without having to fully strip down the machine. Maybe have removable sides and place the components were it is possible to service them.

Thanks Kevin, yes they have quite clearly made it not easy for the average DIY'er to repair the unit. Fortunately this unit only had a faulty Capacitor under all the dust, fluff and lint, which was preventing the Drum from turning. Your unit may have an issue with the refrigeration unit not warming the Condenser.

Nicely done, I like doing tumble dryers they always seem to clean up well. It is frustrating that this cap was so well hidden, some models have removable sides and you can get in there a lot quicker. I picked up one of these candy heat pumps a few months ago, the front lip that rests on the bearings had cracked, so I patched it up, video on my channel, awful repair on my part but got it going!
@green-crocs-fixes1520 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Owen, yes I had already seen your Candy Dryer video prior. Would have taken that Drum to have it welded at a Garage then grounded the weld down. I think the damage was due to the machine dropped @ some stage possibly while still boxed, I do like your improvisation though. Back to mine ,yes the Capacitor was not easily accessible at all, but I always do a strip down and clean first anyway. The excess dust buildup inside was not expected, but probably due to poor maintenance via the previous owner. Kindest Regards 😎.

Alternative, if you can't be bothered/don't have the skill to fully disassemble... you can carefully cut a hole in the side panel!

Thanks Freddy, yes they can take a while to dismantle, repaired a similar AEG recently which was not as full of fluff. This one and my recent Dynamic Next machine video took a while as you say as there’s no side panel to remove so to access and clean the electronics you have to remove the Drum to do this thoroughly. Regards 😊.

Great video. I have a machine similar to this one. Mine isnt heating up. I've stripped it down but cant see any heating element, nothing on the back. Its a heat pump condenser dryer. Any idea as to what it could be / any possible fix or parts needed. Many thanks
@green-crocs-fixes15209 күн бұрын
Thanks John, this machine had not been maintained, so the Condenser unit was completely full of fluff inside, so air was unable to flow through the Condenser. However I focused on the fact that the Drum was not turning due to the Capacitor. Hot and Cold air is air Condenses when flowing through the unit, this effected if the Condenser is blocked. Make sure the Compressor is working (humming) then you may have to clear the Condenser unit which is not easy to access, This link is an method I used on another Heat Pump Dryer; kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGqsfnRvjJJ9aq8si=lOC01iXUTqLYi3kX

hi on the bottom front of the dryer it has a fan but it does not spin during a cycle, it does spin freely if i spin it with something it heats up but starts smelling of burning then over heats and stops for a couple of minutes then starts again any idea what this could be please
@green-crocs-fixes15208 ай бұрын
Hi Flamedog, I am almost sure that the Fan is there to keep the Compressor cool. The burning smell is most likely the Compressor is overheating. There is a Sensor at 08:29 of this video which I accidentally knocked out of place. It slides into the Copper Pipe, this needs to be refitted with some Heat Transfer Paste 😀.

@green-crocs-fixes1520 Жыл бұрын
Hi Anonymous, you may just need to carefully prise the drum away from the back cover as there is a Black Seal (painted on around the heat entry) the seal is likely holding the unit if you have removed all of the screws.

Hello, I've been seeking assistance with my Candy Heat Pump tumble dryer and came across your video. I've been experiencing a prolonged drying time issue, and for the past six months, there has been no water accumulation in the door unit - it remains completely dry. After watching your video, I followed your instructions, cleaning out as much lint as possible and adding water to the bottom section. Eventually, the water filled up in the door unit, indicating that the pump is not the issue. It does get hot, but not to the extent it should. Based on this, I suspect the problem might lie with the heat unit. What are your thoughts on this?
@green-crocs-fixes152010 ай бұрын
Hi Harley, there was quite a lot of Lint inside if the Condenser unit also which I did not show me cleaning, especially around the Fan housing at the rear, not sure if you ventured this far ?
@drinkmaddog10 ай бұрын
@@green-crocs-fixes1520 hi thanks for your quick response. No I only took the lid off the top and removed the lint from the bottom filter. Do you think removing all the lint within the unit would help with the heat issue? If I removed all the lint and it still didn’t work what in your opinion is the next thing to look into? Really appreciate your time.
@green-crocs-fixes152010 ай бұрын
@@drinkmaddog Hi Harley, this machine was brought as a none runner and as you can see by the vid this machine was not maintained correctly like most of the broken down machine which I buy. The filters are rarely cleaned as the manufacture recommends, so this is usually the cause of a breakdown. Not sure of you skill level but you really have to strip these right down to clear lint. Also there are Sensors which could also cause issues. You may have to call an engineer out if you are not satisfied that your machine is running to satisfaction.
