Fantastic flying matt. Great work. Towards the end of the vid you start flying back and as your flying, i noticed that most of the grass is dead?? It seems to spead out from the old base in all directions. Do you think it could be caused by all the heat we have had lately? or has it always been like that since the closure? It would be interesting to see what a geiger counter would read in them areas. Keep up the fantastic work mate 😎👍

it's not as brown as that normally, that is the heat..... but those underground silo's still hold a secret or two ;)

What you saw are props from a live thomas show tour! The characters you see there are Gordon the Big Engine,Jack the Front Loader and Harald the Helicopter. The tender of James is there too. As for Thomas himself,he got scrapped ages ago 😢

great video.... I lived locally in the 80's and remember that place when it was a sinister nuclear blot on the landscape, if you had a pair of binoculars or decent telescope you could stand on the multi storey car park in newbury and watch the planes land and unload the nukes from the back of the transports fresh from the usa. On a bike ride past in possibly 1983 ish?? when i was 14 ?? a friend and I stopped in a car park (residents access I think) for a quick smoke, opposite almost of the entrance gate where you end your video above @TheSecretVault , and a damned US base security jeep was straight on the case asking us (at gun point..... M16 pointing straight at us) what we were doing. In those days there was USAF security every 200 or so yards in concrete MG nests and Peace protesters probing the perimeter...... it was a proper sketchy place in those days. So we told the USAF that we was knackered from riding a Grifter and a bone shaker racer and we was just having a drink break and had no intention of storming the base.......even so - an M16 in the face is fighting talk where I come from and as we rode off the Grifters gears slipped and sprayed Mr M16 man with gravel - HAVE THAT USAF !! I didn't hang about to see if he fired back - if he did, chances are he couldn't hit a barn door.... besides, he was proper stunned by the tyre catapult Final Score was Nuclear Superpower 0 - 1 Me and Dave

Last time I was there it was very different, very occupied and extremely busy. One of the highlights of the visit was having piss thrown at my Austin Montego in a beautiful olive green. Ironic now!

Its funny that you mentioned an austin montego. Ive just found one, i think. If you look 16:15 on the vid and up against the wall next to the blue piping is what looks like an austin montego rally car. I took a screen shot off the vid and zoomed in. I had the maestro.
