I lost my wife of 50 years, 3 years ago. My children have left South Africa to seek their fortunes abroad. Most of my life is spent alone. At first it was really hard, but as time went by and after my acceptance that I had few options and just had to get on with my life. I am fortunate to be quite a creative person. I make knives, jewellery, Leatherwood and I paint, draw, make beer, brew bread and do a lot of journalling . It's during the making process of all I do, the design, preparation using the materials that is the zen for me.... my meditation! The focus on what am doing blocks my mind to depressing and nostalgic thoughts and get me through each day using time creatively.

I am grateful for this gentle soul sharing his thoughts. I am 62 yrs old now and always thought there was something wrong with me. I was born introverted and physically oversensitive to my environment (hives, stomach issues, etc starting at a very young age). What “normal” people view as “outgoing” (loud, competitive, attention seeking) just feels like aggression to me. Often, I just go somehere and sit in my car (my quiet bubble) to decompress from this loud, high pressure existence. I look forward to retirement as a time when I will finally be able to live a quiet life, and to find a quiet way to be of more service to others.

So beautiful his way of looking at life. "They say being older is not for sissies. I didn't find life easy when I was young at all. As a small boy I loved more than anything being on my own. There was something anxious and self conscious when I was around people. When I was with a tree or a cat, the world was mine in a slightly different kind of way" I felt so happy reading those lines. That was me. That's exactly how I felt all along, and still do at 76. Loved this gentleman's way of looking at life. So reassuring ! Thank you Green Renaissance for this heart warming story.

Spoken like a true introvert. About half of the population is like this. The other half seek to make the other half more like them. They push the deep value of friendship. However, as a 78 yo, my family are my close friends. All other friends have fallen away. I often wonder why, but find it a useless pursuit because I can't find the answers. We no longer communicate. I now conclude that friends are like dead skin cells, or hair, that sheds from your body, very naturally and it has little to do with anything you have done. I sometimes miss the old friends, my experiences with them, but those times will never come back. In the end, we have to be comfortable and grateful for the life you have and have made.

you don't want to fit in but to stand out. This culture is killing yr soul, it requires you to consume and produce like a robot untill the resources of the earth are all consumed and eath isn't but a death pile of dust and contamined water. You are beautifull, but yr culture and tik tok and yr parents worship pride and selfishness and seperation which leads to all kinds of addiction (sex, porn, sugar, binge eating, scrolling, buying stuff so people will give you a thumbs up or even jealous look because you achieved superficial things like a car, a watch, a dumb phone or sneakers. Don't fall for the culture which will destroy nature and yr well being. STAND OUT. it is no sign of health to be well adjusted to a sick society😍Joy over board JOB

I saw the title of this film in my email and I was actually afraid to watch it. It took me a few days. It was as if I knew it’s message would strike deep into my core. And it did. I feel as if I could sit with this beautiful human in silence and be understood. On January 6th, the day of Epiphany I awakened to the fact I am autistic. Everything in my life made sense the moment I accepted that. It is because of films like this, the stories these souls tell, that have provided me light when I saw nothing but dark. Once again I thank you for spreading light all over the world. 💚🙏🏻🌎

Such a great way to start my morning. There’re so many lesson that resonate with me from this single video. Things I have been slowly learning as I walk through this life. And it’s just nice to hear someone much wiser talk about them. 1. We are one with nature. And there’s just something healing and calming about being with it. Find ways to connect with it. 2. Silence the noises and live this life mindfully, gently, sincerely, and authentically. 3. Feel and embrace all your emotions. This is how you’ll know that you’re truly alive 4. Don’t just believe anything and everything you’re told. Connect with your higher self. Connect with the rest of the planet and find out what more is out there for you. And then decide what is real for YOU!

This is me in so many ways❤ Mr. Anthony Osler, you’ve put the words so eloquently out of my lips. You’re so on point in saying “ I don’t feel afraid of being dead, what frightens me is not living fully before I die.” At 61, I’ve never felt so alone yet so at peace and joyful within for finally finding myself amidst the craziness of this world. Yet it’s that same insanity out there that drew me inward and then suddenly pushed me outward to see and feel my connectedness with all humanity, especially all the pain and suffering of those misjudged, misplaced by war, mistreated due to their beliefs about God or country. I no longer question what’s wrong, but rather join them in prayer, in mindfulness and I try as best I could to do my part no matter how minuscule the impact. Bless you all for this wonderful reflection. The best so far for me!❤

I have always been a very sensitive person, and had a hard time at school when I was a child. I always wanted to please people, but realize now that I was not getting the love and attention I craved myself. I am so grateful for what I have, and find it very hard when folk say something unkind to me, as I always strive to be kind and caring to others. I love nature, and my best place is to be out in it, but due to my sever anxiety, I can not be far from my home, as this is my safe place. I only go out to walk Madge, or to take the rubbish to the end of our private lane (owned by my neighbor, but where I have right of way over) which is in a very rural spot, with no passing traffic outside my small home. I do believe that we should be kind to others, and just hope that those who are not always kind to us, will see by example the error of their ways. xxx

This man as a similar attitude to life and the living of it as I have . I have family and a few good friends and that is it , but I value my solitude. Its gold to me. As an empath I can feel the suffering and joy of the world . And I have compassion , great compassion. But, I cannot let it affect my personal well being . That's why I go for solitude.

@@andymasse thank you so much Frank for your kind words. I love green Renaissance. I live alone on my little farm in the mountains of East Tennessee. I find so much peace and serenity listening to Green Renaissance. I have recently been through some pretty tough times with my partner of many years deciding to find somebody much younger. Oh well such is life anyway. I have survived lung cancer and several other medical issues. I am doing great now. At 73 years old and going on 30 I have so much hope and love to give to the world and share with others. Green Renaissance videos gives me so much love and peace to think about. And beautiful souls like you responding to my comment shows me there are many many more beautiful people left in this world. Thank you again Frank for your kind words.

its just imagined cries and suffering though meaning not happening in his real time, present moment. him, living alone, in his immediate environment wheres the cry? when he goes into the city, does he see people crying outside? 'the suffering of the world' is his own introjection. or just a default state of a human when he is all alone. but im not implying that that imagined suffering is null or inconsequential even though we could say it is an echo chamber, voices of others, if he finds meaning to such.

Thank you for another beautiful story. Solitude is beautiful, but so is getting involved in the collective. The South African biologist Dave Pepler speaks about the people of Rwanda, how they collectively got involved in their own suffering and that of others through awakened participation. Solitude invariably involves stepping into the world and reaching beyond the self. Listening with compassion, loving beyond the self, that is truly remarkable.

Another of my all-time favorites. I have already watched it several times and forwarded it to people I care about. It is a gift to them as much as your gift to me to bring this gentleman into my life. He is the kind of person I could sit down with and just take in his genuine heart and soul. Anthony has so many precious one-liners I can't list them all here. And, again, as always your videography and editing took the presentation to another level. I absolutely loved the shot of the cat walking across the top of the wall with the Zen Sky sign in the context of the shot and the feel of the message. I also took into the deepest place of my heart wisdom of not shutting out the dark things happening in the world because in so doing I become "brittle by trying to keep something out." Compassion and empathy is what keeps us more deeply loving and soft. Thanks, GR. My life is better for these videos.
