If you put the stake in at time of transplanting you don't have to worry about harming the roots.... right?
@Greentgarden7 ай бұрын
So squash and zucchini have big roots. Putting in a garden stake wouldn't cause any big damage to the roots ... Your good to go.. 🌱

I tried trellised squash this year using metal conduit and chicken wire as my frame. I trimmed the leaves and I used tomato clips to hold the vines up. They are producing more fruits then previous year, it is easier for the bees to polinate and easier to find bugs and their eggs. Mine are in the ground though, not in containers. I highly recommend trimming and trellising 😊

I've been asking this on every short I come across but how do you deal with the vine borers? I go out everyday and pick a dozen eggs off and I know I have to be missing some because they are so tiny. And I feel like the leaves don't really like me fondling them everyday because they look a little Droopy when I'm done. They killed all my plants earlier in the season, and I'm afraid they're going to do it again, even though I'm starting to have some baby squash come out now. The plants are almost 2 months old and I know the borers have had time to get in 😢

@@Greentgardenwhat if they are a from a hybrid seed, possibly a mix with spaghetti squash?
@1OKToni7 ай бұрын
@@wendyburston3132For summer squash you don't have to worry about picking too early since even the squash blossoms are delicious. You do have to worry about picking too late because if the fruits are allowed to mature the plant will stop producing.

Those green stakes have a California Prop 65 warning on them. At least the ones at Lowes does. Just thought I would mention it because I personally wouldn't want to have such a thing near food that I'm growing. I don't know if the plant in turn will absorb it and then you absorb it in a sense.

No way those pots can sustain a squash plant with out constant liquid nutrients. What do you do ?
@Greentgarden7 ай бұрын
So you are absolutely right about water and nutrients. So I normally water every 2 to 3 days. I add fertilizer every two weeks and so far it works well.. but I do recommend bigger pots .. but can it grow in a 5 gallon container absolutely.. just a bit more work i guess... I will do more updated videos to show progress..

Why don't you guys ever show two months down the road. Let people know if your steaks are strong enough and tall enough and if you're containers are big enough.

I do have some updated videos on harvesting months after.. a 5 gallon container works great and I recommend 6ft stake .. no problem
