ATTENTION BUZZFEED!!!!!!!! please change the thumb nail!!! that is not not how hello is spelled in arabic -for one this arabic is from right to left not left to right -secondly arabic is only connected letters like cursive writing each letter written individually makes no sense its gibberish -finally the arabic letters spell the word hello not like the greeting hello but the actual word hello like if I read it in arabic it sounds like hello, I hope u understand what Im trying to say in this part =S its should look like this أهلا and if read sounds like ah-lan of course there are multiple greetings just like in English but I think this is the most common

You'd think, that people would be questioning the absence of the most common language, Mandarin, instead of Russian. Mandarin: 你好 -> Hello 再见 -> Bye

Mandarin is spoken by most people who only speak on language, but more people worldwide know English, making it the most common language

Teal Dragon I beg to differ. You think English is really prominent, but in reality, not quite. www.alsintl.com/blog/most-common-languages/ 14.4% of the world speak Mandarin, more than English. So, yep, Mandarin is the most common. Please check your facts before stating that.

@ewg7557

Teal Dragon Because America is viewed as the top country. Just because it is the top country, doesn't mean it's language has to be the most popular. Also, I am going to end the convo, I saw your previous comments, you are really rather dumb. Condoms *are* a type of birth control.

tbhlukeh You have no reason to be so upset because, "oi" is actually used in Portugal in many ocasions, even if is not the most common form. Portuguese people probably used "oi" on the internet, millions and millions of times, but even in person, "oi" is used some times in the morning to diversify away from "bom dia" and "olá". By the way... by using "oi" in this video, it helps to pass the idea to foreigners that Portuguese is not really Spanish, which is a good thing.

when they said ''(e)selam(u) aleykum'' it was actually and islamic way of greeting, rather than of an actual culture/country. but it IS arabic. it means something like ''may allah's peace be upon you'' so it isn't, really an ''arabic'' or ''urdu'' way of greeting eachother. ''merhaba'' on the other hand, is.

What is sad to me is that people forget that there isn't just one Spanish and one Portuguese. There are slight various for both depending on the country but at least there was a few Spanish the only Portuguese was Brazilian Portuguese 😅. Since I from Portugal I already used to people forgetting the European Portuguese but what can we do...

I'm with you on that. Seriously man. The point of the video was to show cultural diversity and how even within one culture/language, people say hello or goodbye in different ways, and yet everyone is flipping out about the video being "rude" and "incorrect". They had people who spoke that language say hello/goodbye the way they usually say it, so why do we even need "textbook" answers!? This is why we can't have nice things.

It's Gaeilge not gaelic, Gaelic is a hugely popular sport. Why does everyone mix it up?
@sativaromantica6268
@sativaromantica6268 10 жыл бұрын
Probably because most sources recognize Gaelic as valid spelling for the language, like Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaelic) amongst others. Might be the difference of spelling the word "Gaelic" in English or in Gaelic. Like a Spaniard would spell Espagna (sp?) instead of Spain.

Joseph Gillespie Kind of like... when you want to tell me what Germans speak, you'd say they speak German. But they'd say they speak Deutsch. Gaelic is a collective name for several languages, with the most well known being the Irish Gaeilge. As a result, most people will assume/believe it to be only the Irish one. Which isn't 100% completely wrong. Like a cow is an animal, but not all animals are cows; Gaeilge is Gaelic, but not every Gaelic language is Gaeilge. But yes, since most sources do accept the word Gaelic when you're talking about Gaeilge (might also have something to do with the lack of people speaking & teaching the other two), most people wouldn't really be aware of the others. I know I wasn't. EDIT: Still not fully aware of a sport called Gaelic, might look it up lol

I was so happy when I saw the Malay part, to me it seems like Malaysia is a bit of invisible to others. So thank you for including that particular country 😊

abuzar1211 Salam is just Arabic. It doesn't mean it's Islamic. Even Arab Christians and Arab Jews say "Salam". "Salam alaikum" however, is Islamic. But the world "Salam" by itself is not Islamic, but Arabic.
