Love the gear dump on this trip. That kayak with the flat transom is awesome, never seen a design like that. Love the bush guilly suit Greg. I didn’t know otters made that sound. The ones I’d seen growing up in the glades were always eating. They tear apart your traps. Tell Finn to be careful not to cut his gums on that can. Great prospect choosing companions from alone on these expeditions. Nice work in camp guys.🐸🍺🔪🔥

Greg , I am a fan of your show. I have a question. Why do you cast a spinning rod the way you do ? I have never seen anyone cast like that . I am 71 years old . Been around awhile. Do you have a right shoulder injury ? Is that why you cast that way ? Do you ever bubble fish with flys. I lived in Cheyenne, Wyo. For 6 years late 70's . I use to fish lake owens in the snowy range. We caught all kinds of trout. A older man taught me how to fly fish with a spinning rod using clear bubble. It worked on german browns, rainbows , brook, cutthroats. I wish you the best. Its nice to see a man that follows his passions. I worked in hospitals for 38 years repairing and calibrating medical equipment. I only had weekend to hunt, fish, camp . I moved to West Virginia in 1983. So many landowners here. That public land is about it for city dwellers. I miss the west. Take care Greg.

I love your videos because they are real. Fishing is not as easy as some would like us to think. There are sometimes long droughts, and sometimes the fish just aren't biting. I could really relate to the longer adventures taking a toll...because they do. Someone who hasn't been out in the bush for long periods of time wouldn't understand. A lot of work goes into things, and when bad luck hits it just makes it worse. I read some people complaining about your cast. You be you man...cast however the heck you want. Half of these trolls commenting negatively aren't qualified to even hold the rod you're fishing with and wouldn't make it 15 days, let alone 30. Thanks for being honest, thanks for being real, and thanks for being you! Kudo's to Amos as well!

I suggest using a acrylic bright orange bead tied on your hook... or salmon eggs. They will eat them. The splashing on top, they're not feeding on flies.. it's a way to get extra air through their gills.. big transition from saltwater to freshwater. I'm a very experienced fisherman.. Freshwater, saltwater and brackish water...

Those shoals of fish jumping that you saw could be a bait ball, as in they are the bait. Sometimes sharks, dolphins and wales etc will work together to chase and shoal all the fish into one tight ball of fish making it easier to pick them off one at at a time. This is usually done near the surface and thats when you start to see tight shoals of fish jumping on the surface. This can often attract sea gulls to also come and join the feeding party picking them off as they breach the surface. Many different predatory fish can end up joining in and it can quickly become a feeding frenzy until the bait ball has all been eaten.

Great vid! Wonder if Fin mouths the sticks to smell himself on it when retrieving. He seems to want to mouth small sticks more... maybe cuz your scent isn't very strong on it to help his search. Notice how you were amazed he found the small stick, and then Fin spent lots time mouthing it before he gave it to you for another toss. Smart dog knew it needed more scent for an easier find. LOL! All IMHO of course...

Many years ago during a weekend camping adventure with some friends, I spent 4-5 hours making a Adirondack style chair out of logs and a handful of nails I brought along with making a comfortable chair. After I made the chair and set it out by the fire one of the smart ass friends parked his ass in my chair. I said get out, he said you shuffle your feet ya lose your seat. Beer drinking was one activity that day and others would hand out cold ones to the dude who occupied my chair for a few hours. I told everyone not to fetch his beer and eventually he would have to vacate the chair which eventually happened. My chair was really nice but extremely heavy.

So how can you expect Amos to spend all day fishing and hunting and share a small portion of food with you when you don't put forth the same effort yourself? Amos was doing the survival challenge it seems and having to take care of you too, because you played the starve and wait on Amos challenge.
