He has such a sense of humor. Some of the stuff he plays, in a sense, is a form of his humor. He just has such an abandon when he plays. He pushes the boarders of sanity to create insane interludes that are amazing. He kind of reminds me of that group that did the song Spaghetti Western, the only thing; he is like the craziness of the whole group rapped up in one person. But, hey, that's alright, whatever he plays is amazing.

I've been playing drums for 56 years and discovered Greg around a month ago. I've always been a Jeff Beck fan but Greg had such an effect on me I went out yesterday and bought a Telecaster. The problem is I'm 63 so I don't know how much I'll learn but what the hell!

It's amazing what an accomplished player can do on a simple guitar with a simple amplifier. People keep trying to BUY that but you can't. You must practice. By the way, it's been two years, how are you doing with the Telecaster?

Nice show:lot's of playing and tips. Greg mentions that much of what he does is the product of years of practice which although a bit of a "no brainer" tends to elude more folks than you'd suspect.Of course it also helps to have a good brain to aid in retaining all the stuff you learn and (perhaps even more importantly) in putting it to good use. Passion and creativity? that's your cue fellas.

It sure is.
@northof50now8 жыл бұрын
The only reason I noticed is that I put of set of his pickups in my Tele and cannot get information on how close to the strings they should be. Not certain if they are like Lace Sensors, which can be done at any height or do these have a preferred distance.
@ebookpioneers8 жыл бұрын
northof50now What I do is to get the front pickup where it sounds sweet first and then adjust the rear pickup to where the two are even in volume. I do the front one first because that's usually the toughest one to find a good tone with. Generally I like a strong pickup in front (like a Texas Special) about 1/16" above the pickguard and a weaker pickup in back (less than 6.5 DC). Then I make sure the rear pickup isn't so high that it sounds harsh. If it is, then I'll back both of them down a bit. Hope that helps.
@northof50now8 жыл бұрын
Charles Seper I ended up going to the Fender manual. I went lower than the Texas Special, but higher than the others. They are higher than the pickups I removed. But, his are really high. The pickups are great. Very articulate. I've had them a couple of months. I've been playing the last 2-weeks [couple hours a day] and haven't charge them in the 2 weeks. Thanks for all.
@ebookpioneers8 жыл бұрын
+northof50now That's cool. I'm using some Dimarzio Area T pups (also noiseless, but made different from most others). They sound really good. I thought about trying the Fluence set, but it appears to me that you have to use the pots they provide. I like using linear pots though to make volume and tone swells easier to do. I'm also thinking that if a pot goes out with that Fluence set, I'd have to order a whole new control plate, which I'm guessing is expensive. So for now anyway, I'm sticking to the Dimarzio's.
