This episode is all over! First Greg left me to work by myself, but then I leave him to wrap up misc. tasks, and he even gets MIC'd up. I definitely had a good laugh when I got to watch the footage. I hope you enjoy it as well

This needs a david attenborough-esque voice over as Kyle struggles after Greg left him alone to frame by himself and cameraperson just looks on from behind the cold-hearted lens. 😂

Kyle, I don’t know if the camera guy is a permanent addition to the channel or temporary, but, the video quality has vastly improved since he’s been there. Having a him there, really ups the educational factor with getting the shots you cannot because you still have to work. I’m sure it’s much easier on you as well with not having to worry about setting up cameras or being in frame. I’m sure it improved your work flow because of those reasons. I vote for him being a permanent addition. Also, shoutout to Greg for filming by himself and being more camera friendly the past few months of uploads.

37:30 I actually have seen instead of framing a basement wall 2x6 they do it 2x4 but frame the wall 1.5 inches off the basement wall and will then house wrap that back of the walls before they put them up. This creates an air gap between the insulation and the studs and there is no way a batten can touch the outside wall. This keeps the insulation dry and allows for air movement should any moisture get back there. It's a smart idea!

I am from southern Indiana and in the late 70s I was taught by the old timers building houses to drive the ring shank most of the way and then drive the wood together with the hammer, then take the nail home. If you just beat the nail, you dent the wood, rattle everything, and don't necessarily pull things tight like a screw would. Now we have structural screws that pull 3/8 joints together. I don't miss nailing for hours straight, but you are not crazy this works.

33:20 This happens because the screw pierces the first material first and basically it has created a thread in the material. Once you hit the wood it might take a revolution or two before the screws bites into the wood. but the thread in your material has continued to thread on the screw and it creates this 1/16" - 1/8" gap between the material and the wood. I find the same thing happens when laminating boards together or sistering a stud. Yes you could over drive the screw it and let the neck of the screw draw the two piece together but you can also just back out a few revs and drive the screw in again, It like Predrilling with one tool in 2 steps! Great Tip and expiation, I hope most people understand that!

The only case for completing attic-level Block-It across the entire gable ends would be birds’ nests and/or wasps’ nests in that interior attic space against the inside of the gable ends’s metal that, without the plastic wrap, would be resting against bare metal and could potentially result in condensation

SE Tx. here our house wrap is called Tyvek and we plywood our gables all the way up . Tyvek covers that . In 35 yrs. of framing I've never seen House Wrap intentionally run partially up a gable . In areas that have an inspector it wouldn't pass. In all honesty I had to tear the Tyvek off of a garage that had been built 6 yrs. previous and I couldn't believe the amount of damage caused by moisture due to the deterioration of the Tyvek, 6 yrs ! I believe felt paper is a better way to go.

I wonder why the manufacturers of the wood blanks don't automatically laser on each and every blank, on each of the four sides, a ruler that fits the blank length. It can't be the redundancy nor the effort needed to do such a thing, it must be a conspiracy from the ruler makers.

@RRBuildings Kyle, I'm wondering if your truss maker could build your garage door header into the truss for you? Since you face nail the truss to the gable end wall anyway, just have them make it lower in the middle or even lower all the way across. If extra strength is needed double up on the entire gable truss, or just in the header area.
