People would often bash Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond for her past actions, but people forget that she was still learning. When she went down to Earth and explored it with Pearl, she saw the beauty of life and change itself and she wanted that life too. She did not have the foresight to what would happen, but she did not think that after she faked her death the other diamonds would corrupt the remaining and unprotected gems on Earth. She did the best she could to heal them, but she could not do it without the other diamonds and after the life she had with them, she did what she could so that the corrupted gems would not suffer until she came up with a solution. But she did not dwell on it, for life moves on and so did she. She made mistakes, yes I will not deny it, but she was the most human gem to ever live.

The line that always got me was when, I think it was Steven, says "You thought you were following her, but in reality she was following all of you." Rose is my personal favorite character in SU conceptually. I think for better or worse they do focus a bit on her negative actions. All the diamonds were very ignorant of the pain they inflicted on others, but atleast Rose lived a life of creation vs destruction. We see the awful things she did, like bubbling bismuth, using her diamond authority on pearl after already establishing they were equals, not to mention spinel and volleyball. Yet, she was living and growing and learning as this all powerful entity who just wanted to experience it all. She has always been one of the more interesting characters in animation to me. Its just kinda hard to tell people that when a large portion of the bad stuff that happened in the series kinda stemmed from her, but she's also the one that brought everyone together and created Steven in the first place. It's just such interesting writing. Also, her talking on the tape in Nora episode is a peak moment for me because Steven spends all this time thinking about some magical destiny, yet Rose beloved the most magical part of all is that he'd be human, and the fact he was is also a big contributor to all he was abme to achieve

@@JaceyChristian It's kinda crazy that most the major issues people take up about her are victim blaming too. Like, there were several things she did that were bad, but I wouldn't say she did anything evil. The other diamonds were literally intergalactic fascists who she was constantly trying to get to understand that they were destroying life. Someone pointed out to me that's the importance of the pebbles in her room and why it was so easy for her to want to see the kindergarten, because it was always about life for Pink. She shows just how messy it can be, no matter the good we want, we can still always make mistakes but that doesn't make it evil. The only actions I can fully fault her with is not telling the truth to Garnet and not freeing Bismuth after everything happened. She was likely terrified of that interaction, which may be the one thing she did want to pass down to Steven to take care of. Even then Steven was the glue that held everyone together when the truth came out about Pink being rose. The following events of that, culminating in their wedding, is absolutely the most complete and best part of the kind of wonky final season, so in the end even the thing she can't really avoid fault for came around in a good way. Rose had no clue about the cluster or home world's return. Atleast we can assume she didn't know cause none of the other gems did. Their real mission was just gathering up the corrupted gems. I know you probably know all this but I'm just kinda excited someone gets it lol.

I think rose is one of the most interesting instances of growth in the series. She becomes so invested in the idea of growth and changes, that she becomes mortal to participate in that cycle. Talk about committing to the bit

I think Rose had a great deal of self-hatred. She could inspire change in others, but didn’t feel she ultimately could.

I went and did an entire steven universe rewatch as I am now, a Trans Woman, and god, I cant believe I fell for all the dumb bad faith videos made on this series. I absolutely LOVE steven universe now. Same with Future.

I think Rose truly stands out in how much she's grown in the series. Her immersion in the theme of growth and change led her to willingly embrace mortality to participate in that cycle. Talk about some serious dedication right there.

There's something about Rose's monologue that gets me a ton and I think it is both very funny but also pretty beautiful. The fact that Rose, an over 5 millenniums old being, considers the act of change and adaption such a foreign concept, to the point where she thinks of it like it's a damn superpower. She's been under the rule/part of the rule of her home planet for so long, where the culture is to keep things remaining the same forever, and even despite rebelling and being the living proof that change and growth can happen anywhere, she *still* doesn't fully believe she can, and *still* considers it a new, untouched thing. Enough to call it an "incredible power." And it's all for a fact that is honestly, an obvious "no shit" thing to say. Yet it still hits super well, and is a great fact to teach plenty of kids as well as remind even grown adults sometimes. And I think it is amazing, both in the context of this show and as a general life moral.

Imagine the universe where Greg And Vidalia conceived a child a little after Steven was born because of their chemistry. Steven growing up with a precious little human brother or sister to look after. That'd be a different story.

Never understood why Rose is one of the most hated characters on the series...when yes she definitely made some terrible stuff, but almost every character on the series did, but she is one of the characters that most acknowledged these bad things, and actually decided to change from that, wich is one of the reasons her monologue on this episode is so beautiful. Silly comment aside, its nice to see some steven universe appreciation lately, since everyone on the internet just likw to dunk on this show lol

The Steven universe is still one of my favourite cartoons, after stumbling upon this video and your channel again it really made me conclude why the I love this show so much. It’s themes of identity, love and loss but most importantly growing up it really delievers it’s messages in such a lense that it digestable for younger viewers but when looking at it again in a older mature self you can start to see the colors of this show that highlights it’s loving nature and also its flaws which are visible but can still be interpreted as a color that glistens like a gem that is steven universe.
