Nothing better than a Greg video to start your morning! That was a rough day of fishing. I feel like if they are mid-suspended you should use a spinner bait. I find it interesting that you dislike the spinner bait so much. It’s my go to. A nice big spinner bait with a nice trailer can cover a lot of water and get those fish that are chasing bait. Tight lines!

Greg you should dry a deep diving Jerkbait for those suspended fish in clear water. I know it’s generally more of a cold water bait but I think it’d work. A swimbait on a jig head would probably be solid too

Well, sometimes it’s just like that and regardless what you do, it’s going to be a tough day. Although it’s not sexy, on T-day, I’ll deadstick a flatworm on a dropshot, or drift fish a small C-rig presentation, just to pick up five. Chasing schoolies on the topwater bite is a sure way to drive yourself insane. Good luck at Clear Lake - you got this, buddy.
@GregBlanchardFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Saw Bobby Lebeuf the other day and we went down memory lane with the old KATs tournaments. I think a C-rig would be money when it's tough. Lots of guys throwing it and getting bit when even the go-to finesse techniques aren't producing.

Well Greg, unfortunately that’s summer reservoir fishing in California with low water, the fish are all jacked up from all the water releases and are suspending. I fish Folsom lake, fishing is tough. Although fishing coves with brush stick up are surprisingly productive. Plus, fishing outside rock piles. Summertime is tough, fish on boys!!
@clintjacob88502 жыл бұрын
Another great video Greg!! I feel like I saw you tie your “jimmy Houston knot” a little different today, any chance we get a quick video of that in the bass cave before hand? I am getting better at the knot, just lookin for a little tech tip!!

Try the evening bite. I've been having more luck towards the evening instead of the morning recently.
@KI-dc9ok2 жыл бұрын
Try it again Greg! I like graphing any V shape shoreline where it looks like substantial drainage occurs during the rainy season. Good fish in summer will be 40-50 feet at Berry and Shasta this time of year. Clear water means small leaders and slow finesse baits. I know you hate to slow down but drop shot with the smallest weight that gets you to 40 ft and in control of your bait. Good luck!

Dude Same.......I just fished a tourney in my KY series and did badly, it was a tough day. I caught 1 fish at 12;30. Then with 30 mins left in the tourney, I think I figured them out and caught 2 NICE ones near the boat ramp. 3 fish got me 19th out of 52 so it was tough. But it bothered me as to weather I figured them out at the very end so I am going back tomorrow to try and redeem myself. I never did that until just this year when I started fishing some hobies and the such.

Yup, watch Damian's video he was off shore but he uses live scope a little too. I think it really helps him find the fish. looked like he was fishing a couple of humps right off a channel, (not sure that was berryessa now that I think about it) But still holds true particularly in the summer you need to look a lot deeper I think. Curious what the surface water temps were. If they are above 78-80 then for sure you need to look deeper.
@Michaelanthony2092 жыл бұрын
No matter what the outcome, your doing what you love to do and inspiring/ motivating/teaching people along the way. Not many channels will show you the good AND "bad" days, which can make us novices feel like we're doing something wrong because we're not catching 3-7 lbers all day long haha. We all appreciate the honesty and want for redemption on tough waters. Keep doin what your doin brother. Btw I never woulda bought a Berkeley choppo if I didn't see you smackin em on the delta. Now it's one of my favorite top water lures. Thank s brother

All that gear & electronics & still a tuff day out. Now I don’t feel bad fishing from shore with one rod & my fishing pack. But also shows how hard the bite is this season. With all that gear you increase your chances by a huge amount. But when the fish decide they’re not going to bite there’s simply nothing you can do except keep throwing your line out. Not sure why the bite has been so difficult this year especially in California seems like.

You’re a much better angler than I but I have learned with the crankbait bite that you really need to put attention to the way they are biting it if it’s barely hooked on the back hook like that fish was on yours try different colors which you probably already know that just thought I share.
