I hate what the internet has turned skinwalkers into. They're not creepy shadow people. They're not closing random doors in your house for just to spoop you. They have a dedicated mythology and history and the lore is already interesting and scary enough and should be respected, they don't need to be turned into the same old generic shit

@sussus45862 ай бұрын
From what i remember is that skinwalkers can only turn into animals though the way they do it changes depending on the who tells it but skinwalkers are humans.
@Twizzzums2 ай бұрын
@@sussus4586 skinwalkers are basically witches and warlocks. They primarily contain the ability to shapeshift. Usually their human form, and a select amount of animals like wolves, coyotes, eagles, etc. They aren’t always necessarily malicious. They are sometimes seen as a warning, they can help lost humans and souls. But they can be cruel and evil in some tribes history. But there’s nuance with everything. Most people associate wendigos and skinwalkers as the same type of entity and they are not. Wendigos are cannabilism curse. They are always evil, and ever hungry. Skinwalkers are guided by spirits. And are not always evil.

The first video is even goofier if you know what a skinwalker is. It's basically a Navajo witch/warlock who gained an ability to turn themself into various animals in order to don't attract any attention to them when they're causing mischief. There is literally no reason for a skinwalker to be: 1) in a humanoid form & 2) in your plain sight. Like, blud literally spent his life learning how to disguise as animals, and then he decides to stan in front of you as a scary human. It's like if Spider-Man after realizing that he can shoot web, decided to move everywhere using bus.

People use skinwalker as if it means: "something scary doing an unsettlingly mediocre job at pretending it's not" (implying shapeshifting) Which, to be fair, is a frightening concept. I think what's been lost in translation is exactly what you mention: where the term originally came from.

I can't wait for the day the cryptid community FINALLY gets over the skinwalker fad/obsession. Remember how people used to talk about all sorts of different cryptids back in the day? I feel like skinwalkers have taken all the creativity and imagination out of it, it's like anything that appears or sounds to be different than what it's supposed to be is automatically SKINWALKER. Plus there's the "appropriation" aspect of people using the Native American culture to try to add legitimacy to their stories, or whatever, that's annoying.

13:24 Vocalist here! The way you make that sound is by slightly constricting your supraglottal or epiglottal and soft palate tissues and then breathe air thru. Constrict just enough so that your throat's flappy bits rattle as you release air, but not so much constriction as to actually vocalize or make the "throat clearing" sound. It helps to leave your nasal passage open as well so some air comes out your nose. Don't know how to make the clicking sound tho, that's impressive.

Adding the scary movie thing you said
@maxieboom99514 ай бұрын
Also with the lights flickering it could be that when that happens our vision goes blind, similar to being flash banged in a way. As someone who has been interested in paranormal and skinwalkers before, those are 2 different things! Skinwalkers wont just randomly come up to your house at night, they hide in forests, abandoned mineshafts and just nature! Maybe if you do live near nature they may get curious and look near your house! But spirits just mainly live in houses! Skinwalkers arent what you think, some are not that dangerous, some are, and wendigos do not look like a huge deer made out of bones! They take shapes into animals! They can be a human but they dont really just come up to you and kill you, they stay hidden. Ghosts and spirits are the ones that make you shit your pants and haunt you, theres types of ghosts: the vengenful (reveneous) and calm ones. Calm ones are mostly shy and dont show much signs, meanwhile revenous are demons and they may try to get you out of their enviroment by giving you signs that they dont want you there! Theres even loud ones that throw things down and cause a whole chaos. But skinwalkers and spirits are 2 different things! Mythology and Paranormal.

The whole pervert in the bushes flip reminds me of a not so fun experience I had at my last apartment. For context, I'm a tall white lady who lives in Japan, and due to my weird work schedule I got into the habit of taking my trash out at like 3 in the morning. My apartment complex was small, only around six two-room apartments in one building, but the area for trash pick-up was 3 buildings down to the left on the corner of the street. To the right of my building was a small persimmon orchard that was seemingly abandoned for most of the year that I always enjoyed as nice little bit of nature. Well, one night, as I'm stepping out of my apartment to take out my trash at 3 a.m. as usual, something made me freeze and stare at the orchard. I don't think I saw anything in particular, but I just got this sense of "NOPE I do not want to go there." I'm a huge wimp, so I just stood there, frozen, staring hard as fuck at the trees for who knows how long. After what was probably like a minute of staring, I saw movement... there was 100% someone in the orchard quickly walking away. I immediately noped out and went back inside. Thinking back, I'm pretty sure it was just some random person trying to steal persimmons late at night who got the crap scared out of them when out of nowhere a very tall, pale foreign popped out and glared at them without moving an inch before they themselves noped the fuck outta there. Freaked me out at the time, but now it makes me chuckle to think that the scary thing was ME and not whoever was hiding in the trees that night.

ok i love the video where its the monster blocking the stairs and the guy is just fucking stareing and nothing happens its just dreadful dead quietness, i feel like it really captures the moment of "how tf do you fight something you didnt know exists" and that it just is a good portrayal of a uncanny monster cause it doesnt seem to ever attack him, its just lookin at him and being scary

as a person who genuinely lives in a real haunted apartment you can get desensitized to creepy or out of the ordinary things happening or you can have a haunting where it creeps up on you every once in a while so you can’t really desensitize yourself to them
