My life got turned upside down at 15 years old as I was diagnosed with cancer. I remember walking the hospital halls as much as I could. It was exhausting, but I was determined to stay as healthy as I could. It was NOT easy, but I cared enough about my body. I didn’t choose to have cancer, but I chose to push through it. One of my favorite personal financial authors wrote a piece about the power of leverage...one such source of leverage was the use of your free time to accomplish goals. I work 56 hours a week and run a small retail business on the side and take care of my two aging parents. I still have loads of free time. Don't pretend you don't. Now for some they aren't as blessed to have as few of commitments as I do perhaps they are a single parent working 3 jobs to pay rent and spending their spare time taking care of their kids and going too night school. 9 out of 10 people who say they don't have free time are kidding themselves. Oh wait the person working 3 jobs and takes care of their kids and goes to night school is improving themselves in their free time by going to night school...😮 makes one think🤔

I love this. Greg is savage, just by being honest and having common sense. Thank you for calling out the absolute absurdity of modern ideas like “men don’t generally have a significant athletic advantage over women-we’re all literally equal” and “you can be morbidly obese and still physically healthy.” Rational compassion means being honest with people. Speaking the truth to delusional people is a virtuous act of compassion-it’s much nicer than just being empathetic and letting people live in their delusion (and probably let them die earlier because of it).

There's a lot of body positive people who think fit people are judging them and/or are superficial. It's unfortunate. Even my own best friend of almost 40 years judges us (not me, because im "different"😂) for spending hours lifting weights, cycling, running and meal prepping because we spend so much time on their looks and beauty is skin deep. But the truth is... We, or many of us do this because of mental fortitude, focus, and practice at perseverance an a daily level. Physique is often a by-product of discipline. It has nothing to do with judgement of others or fat phobia most of the time. There are jerks out there but most of us fit people just want everyone to be fit too. When you are spending your time doing your best and going harder than last time... You arent looking at others flaws. When you know you could do more and you are sitting there blaming the world around you, its easy to find fault in others.

Thank you Coach Greg! I’ve been following a lot of your advice and over the last 11 weeks and have lost about 14 pounds. With the system of calories in calories out, I understand what amount of calories I need for maintenance, about 2700, and set a deficit of about 700 everyday. This resulted in me losing between 1 and 1.5 pounds almost every week. I have experienced a couple of weeks already where the weight loss flatlined for a time, or even a slight weight gain. However, given enough time, the weight would continue decreasing at the expected rate. Where I lost this 14 pounds, I have met my first goal of reaching 200 pounds, now my next goal will be 190 then I will see how I feel. For my physical activity, my walk to school is about a mile and a half each way for a total of three miles. My gym attendance could be improved, but it’s better than it used to be which was practically never. Now I try to go three times a week, which I have been good about for the past 3 weeks or so. Doing this, I have discovered that I really like the elliptical. I’ve been doing it for 30 minutes, then will do some sets on the machines at my close gym. It’s not a crazy routine by any means, but again it’s better than not going at all. I’ll improve and change it with time. Once again thanks for the advice. I hope that I reach my next goal and will be able to tackle the next challenge once I met the weight I like. This next challenge being keeping the weight off.

When I was much younger and way skinnier(not in a dangerous way) I always saw myself as body positive: I was happy with my body while looking to improve myself by putting on more muscle in the coming years. Now I am way more muscular and still progressing. Body positivity to me is accepting your body now and simultaneously wanting to improve where you can. Stagnating and telling oneself not to put in the necessary work is not body positivity but body neglegence. Unfortunately many body positivity advocates are promoting body pessimism not positivity in terms of reaching a achievable healthy physique one can live happily with.

Now I'm dealing with health complications and it's because I didn't take my health seriously. Ever since I've been on my health journey this year, I've lost over 40 pounds and my health has improved. I'm hoping that people watch this and who need to lose weight. Realize that you can lose weight. You just have to be in a calorie deficit and move. Thanks for spreading your message coach Greg!!!❤️

After many years of setbacks and suffering from chronic pain and injuries I've definitely gotten good at the "Just Keep Going" part. Sure sometimes I drop out a week or even a few weeks and I gain weight again and I feel like crap and the hardest thing is to get back to the gym and my healthy routine. But I do it every time and I have done this for years and then suddenly on the whole those few weeks don't matter at all and those bad periods get shorter and shorter. It went from bad periods that lasted years to months to weeks and sometimes it's only a few days or even a few hours and I'll be able to gather myself and keep going. You can train this too! Everytime you get better at it and you learn this is not how I want to feel and this is what I need to do to feel better and as soon as I'm back to my routine I feel amazing and I wonder how I could have even considered not wanting to do the things I need to do feel happy and healthy. At a certain point you just accept that the bad periods just happen sometimes.. It's still hard to stick to it because my injuries and chronic problems are not going away but at least I'm doing everything I can to keep them somewhat under control and not get worse.

@@simmysimmy1108 Everybody knows steroids is bad for you, nobody denies or being delusional about that, every single person knows. Bodybuilders take steroids because that's literally their career, that can't be helped. Look at Sam Sulek, the dude isn't competing and literally everybody is against him using such high dosage of anabolic PEDs, we don't accept it. Also in the general public steroid use isn't accepted either, they get made fun of, almost every posts or videos online with a bodybuilder, ignoramus always making fun of the steroids. And the third point is, one is a hard work, discipline type of unhealthy, and the other is a sloth, lazy and indiscipline type of unhealthy, of course the former would be more respected.

The man that lost his father, I can relate. I use to be very fit, 20% BF or so, lifted 5 days per week, Zumba 3-4 days per week, yoga twice a week. I ended up in a bad car wreck in 2018, leaving me with permanent injuries and physical therapy for a year. I got back to the gym with limitations in 2019. I was at that point close to 30% BF and overweight. I got down to normal weight and 25% BF... Then 2020 I lost 4 family members, 3 were within 6 weeks of each other. One was my biological mother. Then 6 months later in 2021 I lost my little half sister (Mom's side). This year in July I lost my adoptive mom (she was 80). All of my losses was not from COVID... They all passed from strokes, heart attacks, and organ failures. All were unhealthy. After the loss of my adoptive mom it hit me, I was the biggest I had ever been at 193 lbs at 5'1. I started with step workouts and eating right with intermittent fasting. I lost 30 lbs in 4 months. I'm now at 160 lbs. My goal is 125 lbs, which is where I was at 20-25% BF. I used my losses as my fuel to live for them. To have a better quality of life than they did. So the excuse of family loss to eat bad, sure I did that, then I used it to do the opposite. Right now I'm doing rolling 24s, 48s, and 72s. My goal is 15 lbs lost this month. I do what I can with my injuries, I have a slipped and herniated disc in C1 and C4. I use resistance bands for strength training 3 days per week, I do dance workouts and HIIT workouts 4-5 days per week. I want to be under 30% BF by Jan. Screw New Year resolutions, I'm doing it now. So in conclusion... You can use your physical disabilities, injuries, or health issues or family losses as an excuse to be fat or your fuel to get healthy. The choice is yours.

It’s good that it worked for you, but it won’t work for everyone. Also “fat shaming is body positivity” is such a blanket statement that I think in most cases is not true. In many cases it’s just a reason to put people down and make them feel bad. Sure if you’re sincerely trying to make them better, that’s one thing, but if you’re just attacking people’s insecurities, really not body positivity.

In a way I feel like that is how it all began anyway. Fat shaming people so much that they wanted to create a group to uplift each other. I do agree with everything that the fitness world is saying plus trust me it does not feel good just eating junk all day lol! I would say body positive (more of fat acceptance) would not exist if people would encourage others to be healthy instead of teasing and fat shaming all of the time. Not everyone is mentally stable enough to take such harsh feedback. As for me, I have lost a little over 20lbs in the last 2 months since I began my weight loss journey in September. (No not encouraged by fat shaming lol. Anyone does that to me I will hurt your feelings lol) and I am still aiming for 135lbs more. It will take time but it will be done!

For sure, most top tier bodybuilders look amazing on the surface but inside they’re dying from organ damage, injuries, body dysmorphia/depression/addiction etc. Obviously there’s pros & cons, it’s probably worth it on some level, at least initially. Health will always be the real wealth though, I think once you fully peak you probably start to care more about longevity because you’ve finally hit most of your goals & just want it to last as long as possible/keep going but by that point it might be too late 💀

Yeah of course some people hide the fact that they are taking PEDs and I'm sure that there are KZbinrs who try to act like PEDs aren't a bad thing but there is still a difference. Modern body positivity points to obesity and says that it's healthy. Most fitness influencers I've seen say that working out and paying attention to your diet is healthy. Someone who is unhealthy is still allowed to point out that obesity isn't healthy when people claim that it is.
