Not enough to be significant. Loose skin is just that; loose skin. Loose skin isn't thicker than "tight" skin, theres just more of it. Bodyfat is what makes skin thicker, thus will affect caliper readings.

My eye test said 17-18% on the guy with not that much muscle. I was surpised with 16.7% he got which means I might actually be at around the same body fat with some more muscle. It's a bit of an awkward amount of fat because you are not yet in that ideal range 10-12% but you are "lean" or "healthy" enough that people will tell you to stop your hard work and fasting since you already "made it".

People who have a lot of fat in their legs typically have a lot of fat at the tricep and so it bounces out and it’s very difficult to measure body fat on females if you’ve ever grab their legs you would understand what I mean
@spacepirate9882
@spacepirate9882 Жыл бұрын
@@gregdoucette It's difficult doesn't mean it's accurate and "typically" is even less accurate. I have almost no fat on triceps and way more on legs and it makes sense: Triceps is not a zone with a lot of adipocytes so you really start storing fat here long time after storing fat elsewhere. "People who have a lot of fat in their legs typically have a lot of fat at the tricep" is wrong while "People who have a lot of fat in their triceps typically have a lot of fat in their legs" is true.

Coach, Greg. I know that there are different methodologies to calculate body fat percentage using calipers. I studied under Charles Poliquin and we were taking 14 different sites. I find it odd that there are no sites on the bottom of the body although I recognize that this methodology gives you a general idea and I suppose you can track people’s progress over time using just those sites, how accurate is this compared to let’s say a DEXA scan? I find it strange that you aren’t measuring fat in the hamstrings and quads, and calves, as well as in the upper body on the chest, mid axial. Do you just use this methodology because it’s quick and gives a very general idea?
@gregdoucette
@gregdoucette Жыл бұрын
Having used multiple methods to determine bodyfat with the callipers I find this one to be the most accurate as often times when measuring the lower body the skin is so toxic to the body you can’t get an accurate reading which skews the results. The DEXA scan is simply put not accurate

maybe you should consider having some light weight lifting (or heavy if you want) into your routine. 20% body fat on a toned and strong body will look way less « fat » than 20 % bodyfat on bones. maybe the fat part isn’t what you should be insecure about because truely 20% isn’t something to be insecure about.

Isn’t that the female way to measure? Didn’t see the thigh get measured. Never had my tricep or back measured. And the chest was used too

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that he measured the upper body only? Or did I miss the lower body measurements? If not the total is only the total bfp of the upper body.....

most fo the fat is only in the upper body, + i think he does not have consent to test the lower body.

Coach Greg, after a workout I’m still sore 4-6 days later. Is that normal for a guy in his early forties, or am I over working the muscles? It makes getting two workouts of the same muscle group in almost impossible some weeks.

if its your first workout its normal and it means you went too hard. lower your sets, intensity

@@DogukanOyunda102 I’ve been working out consistently for about 6 months. I’m either barely sore at all or I’m sore for 4-6 days all over. On upper body days I do 5 sets of 9 exercises… Shoulder raises Incline press Bench press Seated lat pull downs Rows Peck deck (chest and back) Bicep curls And tricep presses

Hey I coach a lot of middle age men as well, I HIGHLY recommend a 2 day rule, if you're still sore after two days you went too hard. ALSO: please remember "soreness" is primarily from lactic acid, which is developed by using muscles WITHOUT oxygen present during ATP production, in layman's terms: doing more cardio will help with soreness, becoming sore is not necessarily an indication of a good workout, and as you get better at specific workouts (even going up in weight) you'll slowly get less sore each time, even during muscle gain. Right now as an average guy: sore after 2 days is okay. After 3 days is too much. Not sore after one day you MAY be able to go harder next time. Hope this helps!!

My stomach looks very similar to his and I've estimated my body fat to be about 17 so maybe that's about what it is.

Before I do that I would have asked would ask Infront of the camera: ' 1. Do I have the consent to touch you using my hands' 2. Do I have the consent to lift your shirt up. One needs to protect ones self to prevent future ME2's
