I saw Gregg & the Allmans three times. Of all the bands I've ever seen, the Allmans were second only to Earth, Wind & Fire for tightness and listening to each other during the extended solos. So many bands think jam songs are excuses to go on autopilot. The Allmans always listened to the soloist, and never stepped on him. What a gift!

I grew up in the south and saw them play a bunch of times before they became really famous. The were AMAZING--live performances had so much more energy/personality than studio recordings. I've seen Gregg Allman & Friends about a dozen times and they always seem to play this. This is one of the very best versions of the tune I have ever heard. I've heard them struggle with the tempo of this tune 15 years ago, but it was a different band then. This new band of his really nails it! And Gregg is still sounding really strong vocally.

Never saw Gregg solo but have been to about 10 ABB shows at the Beacon and 1 at Jones Beach. I felt since i was about 17 yrs old that Gregg's songs worked as a soundtrack to my life. I hear a song now at 48 yrs old and one will remind me of some girl i dated or some moment in my life or another will remind me of when i was on the road traveling. It just don't get better than that. Or more surreal.
