I’d argue Butch and Jaimoe were the backbone. There was no other drum sound like that in any popular music back then. Those guys often get overlooked because of the obvious talents up front, but there is no one on earth who can play like Butch Trucks. Him and Jaimoe together is every bit as important to the ABB sound as Duane and Dickey were.

For all the guys like my Father. He was a family guy, but also a truck driver and sowed some wild oats. 'So to Speak',. I always love my dad who died young at 39 years old. Things could have been so much different. Miss him all my life.

Forrest Richard Betts- simply the most Lyrical Rock guitar player ever, and also a tremendous writer too. Simply the BEST in my humble opinion

Hadn't heard this version before, that's got to be the finest solo I've ever heard him play on Ramblin' Man. Straight up gorgeous extended jam! Man oh man...what a legend!

There wouldn't have been a quarter of the Allman Brothers sound without Dickey Betts...That guy is a legend and basically saved the band for what it's worth.

Great to see these videos from the original lineup. I see the late Berry Oakley there❤

It's not the original lineup. Duane was gone by this time, and Chuck Leavell was on piano.

It had most of the original members. I saw Berry there. But yes, Duane had passed.

One of the first 45s that I ever bought. I loved the guitar work on it--and it holds up beautifully.

Dickey just pheonimal - and Berry's pulsing bass was just the best. There is a reason why the Allman tunes continue to be played 4 decades later. They created such memorable music that never gets old.
