I hope you guys go back to Cholula! I've been many times, but the last time I went I finally went to the "younger" sector where the University students truly made it into.a "College Town", so many bars, nightlife and the Container City is awesome! Hope you guys go to the city of Puebla, of my favorite cities in all of Mexico, also very old but super modern (In the Angelopolis neighborhood especially). Try the mole, Mancha Manteles, and the Tacos Arabes (Lebanese legacy in the shawarma that's been Mexicanized, in Mexico City they call them tacos al pastor and made them small :/ ) and the chile en nogada (but it might be out off season? More for Independence Day I believe?). The city of Tlaxcala is really close and beautiful with really nice architecture and fine dining, as is the "medieval" looking town of Val'Quirico near Cholula also in Tlaxcala. Atlixco is another of the really beautiful Magic Towns that has followed Cholula and keeping the traditional but modernizing as well without sacrificing the aesthetic of the town. To eat, go to the little Italian colony between Atlixco and Cholula called Chipilo. Founded by northern Italian immigrants, this place has a gastronomical corridor with the best pizzas, pastas, wine, coffee, and gelato all near the Italian style church and they still speak the Veneto dialect. Highly recommended little piece of Italy in Mexico and really close to downtown Puebla.

You MUST go to Santa María Tonanzintla (this is a MUST) it's not far from Cholula, and then you could apreciate "barroco-indígena" plenty of color. Then you could continue to Sn Francisco Acatepec (1 km from Tonanzintla) and you will go another form of the "barroco-indígena"... You must end going to "Capilla del Rosario" in Puebla city where you are going to see the most clasical of this barroco... Its Awsome... Please do it!
