He IS in the Jazz world. He's already won two Best Jazz vocal Grammy's (2014 and 2017), although in 2020 he lost his one-year older brother Lloyd to Covid so that was an exceedingly sad year for him and his family. I've become a huge fan as well.

As a military aviator and jazz lover, I absolutely have to give Gregory a major shoutout for this. I love all of his work, and my wife and I have been going through a hard time because she’s been battling two forms of cancer. This song came out at EXACTLY the right time in our life to bring our spirits up, and I play it daily. Thanks for doing exceptional work, Gregory!

The outpouring of support we’ve received has been incredible. Thanks to everyone that liked or commented on the post. Gregory’s music has certainly left an indelible mark on us throughout this journey. It’s with great thankfulness that I’m able to say that recent scans of the cancer have shown steady progress at mitigating growth of her brain cancer. Prayers, thoughts, and support have all intertwined with the work of exceptional healthcare professionals to provide better than desired outcomes thus far. To say that we are truly blessed is an incredibly gross understatement!

The first time I played Gregory Porter Holding On in a club playing the Sunset Sundowner Session on a Friday afternoon. Got approached by the club owner and he was impressed and overwhelmed by me playing the Musical Enthusiast in a club. There after I managed to get a 1 year contract deal with the club. I don't think there is a song I don't know and I had this last album on pre-sale for the longest. He can sing anything and I will buy it. He is a man out to get all of my money....There is no other like him..I went to a Christmas concert here in Memphis and sang along with him on every song.
