13:44 Greg, you saved me. I figure out why my damn 6700xt was stuttering in games and had was running half the wattage that it should be, causing my games to stutter constantly. Got a quality power supply where I can connect 2 separate power supply cables to the graphics card and it fixed it

Always use two separate cables for PCIe, especially with multi rail PSUs, obviously, but also in general to reduce load on a single cable.

And Greg's theory about someone returning a defective CPU to Amazon and warehouse staff resealing and selling it again, unfortunately for the viewer, is pretty common place.

Greg, These are the best videos out on YT that help troubleshoot PC problems. I genuinely feel like if anything happens to my PC or my kids PC's that I will be able to fix them myself. AND, if not, I'm only in Jacksonville so I would Def make the drive to come see you if I couldn't figure it out on my own and I were lucky enough the get picked for the playlist. Love these and also all your other ones you do. I work from home and for lunch I try to eat at our dinning table and not just sitting in my computer chair. I can see the computer from there and first thing I do is see if you have something new. They are done well, easy to follow and just the right amount of time. Fixed a friend’s PC recently and it wouldn’t post with the NVME drives installed. Turns out, I had to update the BIOS on the MSI Z390 motherboard, paired with an i5 9600K. Worked fine after that.

I know that it may be a lot of extra work but I would love to see a spinoff of this where the audience gets to vote on what they think the issue is. Break the pc repair into two parts. The first part would be the inspection and then audience voting. The following week, have the repair and reveal which percentage of the audience was right. Either which way, this is honestly one of my top content supplies. I love this and yes.....I have been watching all of the way through to the end Greg. 😳

I was browsing PSU testers the other day and saw some affordable one's around $20 and possibly a better unit from Thermaltake for $45. But I was like, where's the one Greg uses and had to hunt. I was shocked to see it retails for $590 from the manufacturer PassMark, my mind is blown. It comes with a software suite that can monitor via USB to a laptop so this is shop level tech from a bit of an inconspicuous device! I'm really impressed!

clean socket with alchol will remove paste if there were some in socket . I use electronic cleaner gets socket clean and boots right up.

Great work. Had to troubleshoot a Ryzen R7 5700G System last week and it was a terrible experience. No post. But the BIOS should support it. Swapped a GPU and CPU from my personal PC into it, tried it unsuccessfully wiith several displays. No post. Frustration. We gave up for the day. And then it dawned on me. Even after watching the whole "Fix or Flop"--Playist... have we tried resetting CMOS? Wie did not. And it worked. Posted like a champ. Why did I not try that first?!! AAAAAARgh!

Ok I am at @6:00 and if I were trouble shooting this the thing I'd look at is 1) is anything shorted to ground and 2) is it a modular power supply and did they not plug plug the motherboard power cable in all the way into the power supply and it worked its way loose so it "looks" like it is plugged in but it isn't. Ok hitting play to see what it ends up being :) CPU! Wow. So the CPU itself was melted and shorted internally. Very cool

I used to work in the assessment and intake of broken computers at a repair shop. We didn't do too much with the computers other than verify details like data status or physical damage, but I 100% thought the same fan model that hit your hand was not spinning multiple times, so don't feel too embarrassed!

I would double check the power settings for the cpu in the bios, many folks bricked their systems because the MB manufactures were defaulting the OC (P1 and P2) settings to max. Newer bios updates have been released that auto fixes this issue but either way that should be checked out thoroughly or the owner will back to a cooked cpu in short order.

This is why I love the Debug LED on Asus boards. The Z690-E should give you a post error code of 'F.F.' if the BIOS is not initializing.

None of the USB ports on my rig work, I was changing cases, and the fan controller I've been using was having issues. The system shut itself down, and after rebooting, the usb ports were all dead, and they dont work in BIOS or windows. How likely is it that my USB controller in my processor is fried?

Since greg keeps mentioning who are able to participate in the fix or flop series, he should do a Q&A on people outside orlando, florida and the outside the US, tell their problems and greg helps to the best of his tech knowledge. For me, my potato pc just shuts off instantly and randomly, when i press my power botton the pc boots up like normal for a new seconds to minutes then just shuts off without any warning. Already tried another working psu and still shows the same symptoms. Btw love this series, helps everyone learn more about computers.

I made the same mistake of accidentally touching a running fan when I built my first PC in the Corsair 4000D Airflow Case. The rear frame of the case fans really does like look fan blades lol

Had something similar happen to me on a 2 week old ryzen 7600x, would work but shut down without warning, and it'd post and enter bios but it immediately shut down as soon as bios was loaded. Had to go directly to AMD for a replacement due to lack of supply.

Can anyone help with this , my pc which I’ve had for about 4-5 months refuses to boot up properly I find it constantly lighting up either my asus boards VGA or DRAM LED whenever I turn it on after shutting down , I’ve tried reseating my m.2 and my ram sticks in different placement combinations with success only sometimes (after some time) eventually it goes right but I’m not sure if it’s just random luck it does , I have 2 vengeance CORSAIR 16gb 3600mz, all I’m getting on vga error is a white underscore on the top left of the display , when it’s dram nothing displays and only a long power button press will shut It off

Great video Greg! I really thought it was a motherboard because of the lack of lights. Seems to me that that motherboard manufacturer had a terrible diagnostic setup. I mean what's the point of the lights if it won't indicate a bad CPU?! That's pointless! The other motherboard you tried the lights work perfectly fine to detect the bad CPU.
