Today we address the need for a renewable expandable power production facility and begin to invest in the creation of Benzene. We build our first Pyrolyse oven using the Kanthal we made previously and add many other pipes and machines and gadgets to get everything processing correctly.

(For the record the Schematica design that Three initially shows off actually had an error in it, which was fixed after Three pointed it out to me. In addition Three rotated the design presumably to better fit his future power, which unfortunately causes Schematica to incorrectly/not rotate some of the blocks causing issues like machines supposedly getting power input through the front face, which is impossible. So if the Schematical design you get looks/is slightly different, that would be why 🙃) For the record the cheapest incarnation of the Benzene setup only requires Kanthal Coils, Polyethylene (for Item Conduits), the *slightest* amount of Thaumcraft (though only for the maintenance lights, and while more annoying to set up you can instead use Insulated Redstone Conduits if you really wish), and some MV-tier machines to start. After that you can simply fill out machines and/or upgrade the few machines that require upgrading (mainly the Pyro ovens, the generators for the pyro ovens and the Electric Air Filter if you're playing with pollution) as you get them. The finalized design with the quad EV DT is a fair bit more complicated in comparison, but not so much that it's impossible to figure out. I hope 🙃. The trick with the IC2 reactor vent as a cover is explained in the questbook, by the way. That's how I learned it. Also it's not required to use a Vacuum Freezer to cool down the hot coolant otherwise, you can use an IC2 Liquid Heat Exchanger and IC2 Stirling Generator to convert the coolant and produce some power on the side. Which is good, because the Vacuum Freezer requires the next *tier*, not *grade*, of circuits after HV. And those involve...complications 🙃. The Benzene setup does have a pretty hefty up-front cost, especially if you don't go with thinner cables until you actually need the thicker ones (though that will involve replacing them and risking fires/massive explosions if you forget to do so), but that's because the setup is designed to house so much more than the cheapest initial one does. It'll make expanding/upgrading that much cheaper in comparison, since a lot of the work was put in initially. (In case anyone is curious about that "The item seems to be broken..." message, that's because the large cells don't like being right-clicked on stuff. It's just a fancy message saying "this doesn't do anything", it's not a Warp effect causing something to break 🙃) I do recommend making sure to leave plenty of space around the Benzene design for possible future expansion. The setup itself is indeed designed to fit inside a single chunk, since I'm assuming most people add/use FTB:U for chunk loading (the alternative, Railcraft Admin Anchors, load a 3x3 by default) and so you can load just the one chunk for the entire setup. But there are ways you can expand upon/improve the setup which just will not fit within that same space - frankly the setup as is barely fits. So unless you want to fiddle around with either a sub-basement or roof spaghetti - and you don't, trust me - leave space for future processes/large power generators. Input Filter prevents items from entering a machine if the machine doesn't have a recipe that uses that item. In the case of the compressors it's necessary to prevent them from accepting Oxygen Cells, which are a byproduct of centrifuging air to get the necessary Nitrogen. You could also use conduit filters to accomplish the same task, but enabling Input Filter is cheaper. I did save item conduits where possible (you may notice the pyros are being fed logs through an item pipe in fact, that's why), but some things item pipes just are not able to manage. So conduits it is. I have color-coded both the super tanks as well as the fluid pipes (black for Benzene, brown for Wood Tar, and red for Nitrogen), but it can be difficult/impossible to make out the particular color of a tank in the preview given the blue color Schematica gives it to show it hasn't been placed yet. "We have to set the shutters for the fluid pipes" *immediately sets a shutter incorrectly* 🙃 If you want to jump-start a gas-powered Benzene production without hooking up temporary combustion generators the easiest solution is probably distilling oil into Sulphuric Gas, and desulferizing that into Refinery Gas. Not as power dense as benzene, but as a jumpstarter it can get the job done. You may be wondering what system makes sure that all compressors get cells once there are more than one on a line so that they'll all keep running and keeping the centrifuges fed, because Round Robin isn't necessarily going to cut it. The honest, if shameful answer is to stuff a stack of cells into every compressed so that it can never run out of cells to process or deadlock on an excess of cells. This may seem excessive, and it is, but cramming a proper solution into this tight a space is difficult/expensive (recall the initial setup doesn't even require HV circuits), and Empty Cells can be crafted from just Steel. Steel requires Iron (which this setup actually produces through Ashes centrifuging, and you can extract the Banded Iron dust directly instead of electrolysing it for the oxygen content if you wish) and Oxygen (being produced as a byproduct by the centrifuges *and* electrolysing everything the Ashes centrifuge into). And of course the entire setup is designed to produce power. So since it *literally* produces everything you need for steel, and steel is very quick to make in the EBF, I deemed the "stack of cells" solution an acceptable one(/compromise). Among the other things that Super Tanks have received is an auto-output button, no pump required. For the tank providing Nitrogen to the Pyros and Benzene to the entire setup this button provides enough throughput to keep everything fed, so no pumps required. Well, for the fluids. The machines are another story entirely 🙃. The pipe on top of the Distillery is indeed because eventually there'll be a line of distilleries there, and those cannot directly output into the tank. ...*I had not even considered using a machine controller cover to turn off the Pyro if the charcoal overflows*. I just had the one redstone lamp there with the idea that if the charcoal overflows it'll overflow into the output hatch, so with a redstone lamp a cover can be used to inform the player that something went wrong. Charcoal should never end up in the output hatch unless conduits aren't set correctly or there is something wrong with the (amount of) fluid extractors, so I figured a simple alarm like that would be sufficient. Did not even occur to me I ended up placing the output buses right next to the machine controllers, allowing for very easy overflow automation like this. Three figuring out ways to improve the design literal seconds before praising it. What timing 🙃.

The benzene setup seems a bit expensive for just starting, I assume this is to allow easy expansion and to fit it all in one chunk; however are you sure you need kanthal could for this or could cupronickel work fine at the very start
@king6790
@king6790 Жыл бұрын
@@morrisstanforth3278 Cuprinickel would not be very power positive, so wouldn’t recommend
@TheShadowofX
@TheShadowofX Жыл бұрын
@@morrisstanforth3278 It is indeed expensive to set up initially, but that's because a lot of the cost comes from preparing for later expansions. Once set up it's relatively easy/cheap to fill in the rest/upgrade the pyros. This setup can go from ~1.2K EU/t profit all the way to ~20K EU/t profit before Distillation Towers get involved, assuming you can supply enough logs. You could try to build this using Cupronickel coils, but your power profit will be roughly cut in half compared to Kanthal, or roughly quartered compared to later Nichrome coils. This initial setup with Cupronickel would produce only ~1A HV, and that just is not worth the entire setup.
@morrisstanforth3278
@morrisstanforth3278 Жыл бұрын
It would be at least better than my current setup of a 2*2*2 liquid fueled firebox where I use all the creosote from making blocks of coal coke for my EBF (I know I probably should've made oil first, but benzene has a cool bonding structure and I wanted to get into IC2 crops nice and early) Because of my current power, I don't have access to kanthal coils but it is next on the list and tbh, going from 40 EU/t to about 512 EU/t is good enough for now.

There are GT underground (as in below bedrock, allegedly) fluid fields that you are able to drill up using multiblock Oil/Gas/Fluid Drilling Rigs. While not *infinitely* renewable (until the infinite version of that drill in UHV or thereabouts) they can be rich enough to supply enough oil to feed an oil-based fuel production setup. The key word, however, is "can". It's random how large these fluid fields are, and in the overworld there's five different fluid fields that can spawn - Light Oil, Raw Oil, Heavy Oil, Oil and Natural Gas. If you're interested in producing Diesel, let's say, than only the regular Oil field will be of interest, as the other oils have (much) less yield on the Light Oil you need the most of and Natural Gas doesn't produce any at all. Add the fact that each fluid field is 8x8 chunks large, and the odds of finding a good nearby oil field of the type that's useful to you can be very bleak indeed. But Long Distance Fluid Pipes are *perfect* for sending oil across dozens of chunks, without having to load the chunks inbetween the input and output points to keep the oil flowing, and remote power is easily solvable when you're producing energy dense fuels like diesel. So expanding diesel production and using it as your long term power solution is entirely viable, you can comfortably take the oil-based combustion fuels all the way to fusion if you really want. If you don't fancy making Cetane-Boosted Diesel just to fuel a T1/T2 rocket later on you can complete a quest in the MV chapter to craft an MV World Accelerator, which has a choice reward of a stack of Cetane-Boosted Diesel cells. The machine is not cheap, either to craft *or* to run, as you might expect from a tick accelerator. But they're not crazy expensive, and actually have some good uses in speeding up the growth of some Thaumic Bases crops (Redlon and Sweeds, chiefly). For the record, Argentia Seeds produce Argentia Leaves, which either produce a trickle of Silver, generate purified silver ore with UU matter, or be used to get 4x purified ore out of crushed galena/silver ore. There will be a point much later in the pack where you require *infinite* amounts of purified Galena ore (as well as Purified Sphalerite and pure Alu dust) to produce a much-needed resource called Indium, so those Argentia Seeds might end up being Chekov's Loot Bag Reward. The bee frames are Soul Frames, and while not hard to craft yourself they are useful as a relatively cheap boost to your Bee mutation rate. Not completely worthless, but not much more than merely "convenient" either. The weird-looking block is a Door Factory from Malisis' Doors, and is used to create custom doors. It's actually got a ton of options and have literally zero knowledge of what any of it does, so I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader 🙃. HV gates a bunch of important stuff, not just in tech but in magic as well. Just don't make the mistake of rushing so quickly that you end up not being able to actually *do* anything with the options you've unlocked. HV machines are not going to run consistently without HV power - you can supply a battery to a machine to run it periodically, but obviously if you wanted to set up something like ore processing this is not going to cut it. You can craft some stuff with HV circuits, (a Portable Scanner is 100% worth grabbing HV circuits early for), Stainless Steel (Greatwood wands finally!) or even the odd HV machine (Macerator for byproducts since most ore macerating recipes are so cheap it'll run on 1A MV, Bending Machine to make Tin Cans if you skipped Healing Axe), but remember to take a step back and actually build a road to the bridge you're rushing to cross before fully building it 🙃. Outside of buying Enderman spawn eggs from the questbook another option to get a regenerating enderman is to dive into a Roguelike Dungeon. On the second to last floor there is (a chance of there being?) a room with an Enderman Spawner. Given enough time this will eventually spit out a regenerating enderman, although going that far into a Roguelike Dungeon without tunnelling around it is very hazardous indeed. I've also heard that capturing a mob in a soul vial apparently allows you to reroll infernal traits, or something along those lines, though I've never managed to get this to work myself. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or perhaps I heard wrong, I'm not sure. Also, speaking of soul vials, *always* keep some on you at all times. Not just in case you run into a regenerating enderman out in the wild, but in case you run into *any* mob worth creating a mob farm of out in the wild. Thaumcraft Wisps (for Ethereal Essence) and Eldritch Guardians (for Eldritch Eyes) are particularly noteworthy for any magic fans, otherwise Mother Spiders (for spider spawn eggs) will be useful as a source of spawn eggs later. Benzene is another entirely viable power solution for MV all the way to LuV - and beyond, if you're crazy enough. As a power solution it's easily renewable, since it just takes logs to fuel, and through proper processing it can spit out a dozen-odd byproducts that are useless to useful to critically important at various stages of progression. The same, by the way, is true for oil-based power - GT is complicated like that. For the best power output you actually need to combine Benzene and oil together, though the spreadsheet has more information on those particular details. Those *many* particular details. In any case, for right here and now the most key, most *critically important* thing to remember with Benzene power is that Pyrolyse Ovens will live or die by their coils. Benzene power *needs* Kanthal coils, *at least*, in order to have any chance at relevance. Adding Nitrogen is also a critical (though, relative to coils, less so) component. The difference in power profit between Cupronickel/Circuit 9 and Kanthal/Circuit 10 is somewhere in the order of 250-300%. And that's to say nothing of better coils making EBF smelting 5% cheaper in the meantime, or even as high as *50%* once Nichrome coils enter the equation. In short: Upgrade those coils! Because they will make a major difference before all is said and done.

This is the best idea! I love it. Blue inputs, Orange outputs like the busses as you mentioned but that could work very well, thank you :D

With respect to the drawers, this base has very big, “portal vibes”, and I think it would be cool to play along with that.

If you pick up the Enderman with a soul vial and place it again, it will reroll the chance of it to be infernal. If the Enderman was already infernal, it will keep its infernal properties. So in the end each Enderman egg will result in an infernal mob.

I will say while I do play GTNH myself at IV tier atm, following along in the speed run episodes is fine: however the slower ones I have found much more enjoyable, even if its mostly because I feel less bad over taking over 2 years to get to IV myself and you are basically speed running it.

I’m currently playing through Enigmatica 6 Expert and every time I’m doing cabling I think, “man this would be sooo much easier with the ender io conduits!” I miss them so much!

The IC2 farming station is cheap and is an easy way to get early wood. I power mine with creosote. I have some tiled vertically to get all the wood I need

Always nice to see a new upload, love your stuff!! Out of curiosity, have you considered playing other games, namely factory games like Factorio and Mindustry?
