Today we progress through to the end of the EV chapter and unlock Epoxy and it's related Nanoprocessor Circuits! After assembling two more LCRs to automate missing fluids we need for the recipe we decide to move the Cleanroom into a more appropriate location and invest in Applied Energistics Autocrafting to build our circuits for us.

Since the cleanroom will be largely (though not completely) obsoleted later, and since you really don't want to put off obsoleting it since that means delaying upgrading your circuit crafting capacity, I don't necessarily recommend crafting a big cleanroom. I *especially* would not recommend crafting a full size one, as that is just a giant waste of resources. What I do recommend doing is looking into Electro-Magic Tools infused solar panels as a means of powering your cleanroom without hooking it up to your central power grid. It's not that the cleanroom costs that much power to run, quite the opposite in fact, it's that you're eventually going to have a centralized power spine running at least LuV power. Transforming that down *all the way* to LV just to power the cleanroom is beyond obnoxious, and potentially dangerous if you make a mistake with the dozen-odd transformers or forgetting to upgrade the LuV->IV transformer before upgrading your central power spine to run on ZPM instead. Since the cleanroom only requires 4 EU/t to maintain 100% if your base is in the overworld a water infused solar panel (along with an LV battery buffer) is probably ideal. A water infused panel will only turn off when it's nighttime, meaning you can be sure about how much power you're getting during the course of a day and how much you have to store to survive the night, no matter when or how much it rains. Conversely if you're in a perma-day Void World you can easily grab an Ordo infused solar panel. Of course Cleanrooms will get maintenance issues and will drain more power when they do, so if you want to prepare for that I'd recommend an additional Entropy infused solar if you're in the overworld (to generate power during the night if it's not raining and extra power during the day) and a large LV battery buffer to just eat the extra power cost until you notice and fix the maintenance issue. Or, of course, an additional Ordo infused solar in a perma-day dimension. Alternatively you could run your Cleanroom off of an LV Magic Energy Converter (or two, to account for maintenance problems) manually fed nether stars. I know, "manually fed" doesn't sound very impressive, but without maintenance issues one nether star will keep a cleanroom running for over 200 hours. Modded Minecraft is all about automation and not manual work, but sometimes just setting something up to run manually until you're done with the pack works. Even in GTNH 🙃. Yes, that super crazy ridiculously fast electric shadow metal wrench really is *that* slow when it comes to breaking plascreet blocks. Plascreet is a fantastic candidate for removing via Equal Trade-ing it with dirt for that reason, simply because it really takes *that* long to mine it even with super fast tools. Keep in mind that centralized power storage is *tall*, with a maximum height of up to 18 blocks. Whether you'll ever build it that high, who knows, but given the fact that there are multiblocks that are 15 blocks high who *really* want to be very close to centralized power if at all possible (introducing: Mega Blast Furnace) it pays to keep that space requirement in mind regardless. Furthermore setting up centralized power at *this* particular point is very much possible - I always recommend starting with a 16A IV battery buffer with (eventually) 16 Lapotronic Energy Orb batteries (100M EU storage each), and an IV Hi-Amp Transformer to turn those 16A IV into 4A LuV that is send down a 1x Vanadium-Gallium power spine. Is it expensive? Very much so. The Lapotronic Energy Orbs in particular require more platinum than you might be comfortable producing without setting up the first part of platline. You'll also need basically everything you need to set up nanoprocessors (and a bit more on top), which is good because Orbs also require an extremely painful *16* HV circuits each. So why do that over setting up an LSC, which got unlocked with the ability to craft LuV tier circuits? Mainly the fact that (at least in the version Three is playing) there's no EV tier multi-amp dynamo hatches, so extracting your centralized power requires either spamming EV dynamo hatches/transformers or rushing the even more difficult to craft IV tier dynamo hatches. The battery buffer with Lapotronic Energy Orbs solution is expensive, yes, but once you're ready to make the switch over to an LSC you'll have the energy orbs for it's capacitors already crafted. Think of it as an investment that you can put to good use in the meantime 🙃. Cleanrooms can't contain too much Reinforced Glass, but they can contain a lot more glass if you use Warded Glass instead. I'm not 100% sure about how the math works out, I think there has to be a certain minimum percentage of plascreet blocks and the rest can be other blocks up to their respective maximum percentages? Either way if you use Warded Glass you can fit a ton more glass into a cleanroom. IMO it looks cleaner than Reinforced Glass too. At this point you'd want to also cut out the HV tier machines, and instead add a 4A IV diode to later hook up IV tier machines to. You can get away with never putting IV tier circuit crafting machines in a cleanroom if you craft a Processing Array as quickly as you're able to, but those things are pricy. Worth investing in, though, at least in the few niche situation they still prove useful despite GT++ multis generally schooling them in the fine art of being worthwhile despite an exorbitant cost. Remember that battery buffers can accept 2A input per battery inserted, so you don't need to transform 4A HV up into 1A EV just to feed that power into a battery buffer. In fact you could hook up both the HV and EV battery buffers to the same line so they're fed directly by the same turbines...though I would not recommend doing so. Because in that scenario if you were to accidentally rotate the EV battery buffer's output side to the cable line you'd have EV power going into an HV line. Not quite HV to MV, but a bad scene all the same 🙃. Also remember to keep cable sizes and amperage limits in mind to make sure you're not using resources you don't have to. At least if you're not just recycling old cables, as I suspect Three is doing here. Wireless Connectors are the intended solution for getting AE2 into your Cleanroom, or similar situations. They're very useful for that purpose, but beware that the greater the distance between them the more energy per block space distance they're going to drain passively. If you want to know how much a pair of Wireless Connectors is costing you in terms of power simply look at their tooltip. It'll list their power drain in AE/t, but 1 EU equals 2 AE and Wireless Connectors always come in pairs, so the listed AE/t cost is the passive EU/t cost of a given pair of connectors. That said, yes, 2.2.3 I'm pretty sure has the connectors already buffed and the questbook text not updated to reflect that. A straight line of 8 empty block spaces between Wireless Connectors in 2.2.3 consumes only 100 AE/t for both wireless connectors, whereas the formula in the questbook (as far as I can try to make sense of it) apparently claims one of those connectors should consume over ten times that much. In either case you will eventually get access to creative AE2 energy, at which point you can throw around these wireless connectors with reckless abandon. And yes, Wireless connectors do not consume channels themselves, and are able to both hook up directly to dense cable and send through 32 channels. Making 37 EV Machine Casings on accident would be a lot more concerning if you couldn't Arc Furnace them right back into Titanium ingots, if you end up needing more of those. Alternatively if you make too many of something less easily recycled on accident remember that disassemblers exist. They'll save your bacon at least once in a given GTNH playthrough. Good old lootbags. Either they're completely worthless or they're utterly OP. There just is no middle ground with them 🙃. Three really should build some kind of room for Crafting Card disposal at this point. Unfortunately Liquid Death won't destroy it, so Three is going to have to come up with a more...*creative* contraption 🙃. It hardly seems relevant at this point considering the lootbags are literally throwing storage components and stuff to complete more quests to get *even more lootbags* at Three, but keep a *very* close eye on NEI when crafting storage components. There's an excessively expensive recipe to upgrade storage components to the next tier, and a significantly cheaper recipe to craft them from scratch in a circuit assembling machine. Use the correct recipe, or you won't have any resources left to store on your new storage disks 🙃. Autocrafting circuits is indeed a big step in progression. You *can* get away with not setting up AE2 autocrafting until IV, as I did in my survival playthrough, but don't. That was, as the scholars put it, "a monumentally stupid idea". The circuit batching eventually will break you, if not before you start to craft your first Assembly Line than definitely afterwards. Instead I recommend not just investing in autocrafting circuits early, but in keeping on top of your ability to autocraft circuits both consistently and quickly. Put stuff on passive once you've got the resources for it coming in and being process, move over circuit crafting machines to PAs to run multiples of them in parallel, etc. Circuit crafting, much like EBF smelting, is a process that's going to consume a fair bit of time going forward. Don't let it catch up to you, stay on top of it if you don't want to end up waiting on circuits to craft.

@@jaycobobob If you've watched Three's DJ2 playthrough recall how much time his AE2 system took to calculate lategame crafts like alchemical chests and whatnot. Now imagine those kinds of crafting calculations taking place literally every tick, per crafting card. Crafting Cards can very easily send your FPS (and TPS) into the abyss. They do have uses here and there, there are correct uses for them, but you have to be really careful.

If at any point you're not sure what to do next in GTNH, look at the next tier of circuit/EBF coils and work towards that. You can never go wrong getting better circuits or better EBF coils. Speaking of which, one quirk of EV not really existing as a tier means that the IV tier line of Quantum Circuits is already a lot close than you'd think. Not that it doesn't require several things Three doesn't have currently, but it's very rush-able if you want to go that route. I was wondering why you started actually producing your own Iron(III) Chloride so early, and then I remembered that the quest shop in MP is busted in 2.2.3. Normally you just spend all of those (otherwise largely pointless) Chemistry coins on Iron (III) Chloride, and over time build up so large of a stockpile that you don't start producing your own until way, way later than you normally would. Ah, yes, the stocking input bus. One of those (relatively) newer additions to GTNH that tend to fly under my radar partially because they didn't exist back during my survival playthrough some years(?) back, and partially because I don't keep too close an eye on AE2 additions. But it's definitely one worth highlighting: The Stocking Input Bus (ME) is a combination Input Bus and ME Interface. It doesn't have any physical storage space, instead a stocking input bus allows you to filter up to 16 different items to be exposed from your AE2 storage system. Say you've got a drawer with 64 stacks of sulphur dust hooked up to AE2 via a storage bus, and you add sulphur dust to a connected stocking input bus: It'll read the 64 stacks of sulphur dust connected to your AE2 system and give the multiblock it's connected to access to *all* of it. Despite this Stocking Input Buses cannot run into problems with their inputs getting clogged, since they have no physical storage space of their own, all they do is read the content of your AE2 storage network and make all filtered items they find available. Incidentally, in addition to obvious applications in ore processing (though old fashioned storage buses can still be more useful there due to their much larger filtering capacity) and these chemical line automations Stocking Input buses can also be used in autocrafting. Circuits in particular enjoy a whole host of possibilities in regard to putting crafting components on passive, automatically providing them to dedicated circuit assembling machine PAs instead of stuffing input buses full of random garbage, etc. Expect(/hope) to eventually see something like that in action, because crafting an Assembly Line without some *serious* investment into circuit crafting capacity is, eh...well, you'll have ample time to ponder the decisions you've made leading up to that point. Let's put it that way. Ah, the tried and true tradition of the GTNH quest completion dance. You will be baffled by the amount of times you have to do something manually well past the age where you should have fully automated it. And hopefully did. "But the devs added quest bypasses specifically for that reason!" you say? True, a lot of the large chemical processing lines have ways to bypass the many quests that require you to hold X of each step along the way, and if you're doing a no rocket challenge of some description there's bypasses for those as well. The problem in the former case, however, is that you're not doing these quests because you need a questbook to explain to you how NEI works 500+ hours into a GTNH playthrough. You do the quests because they reward you with precious Ender Chests/Tanks-I mean, lootbags, and/or coins you can spend on AE2 processors/fluix cables or Iron(III) Chloride. To give you an idea the PBI questline in IV yields a total of 13 IV lootbags, enough Technician coins for 16 of all three AE2 processors and 408 fluix cables, and enough Chemistry Coins for 1472‬‬ cells of Iron(III) Chloride. Yeah. You *could* bypass the quests, but why *would* you with that much of a reward being left on the table? I imagine most will have set up some sort of glowstone automation by now. If not the Equal Trade focus trick is certainly a decent way to collect a lot of it quickly, though enhancing the focus to expand it's radius and add Silk Touch is recommended. You can fluid extract glowstone blocks into the full four dust worth of liquid glowstone, whereas breaking the blocks might not yield that full amount. In addition glowstone blocks are also denser than the dust, meaning you can craft bigger batches easier, for what that's worth. Finally if you need glowstone in a hurry than Thaumcraft (or Botania) to the rescue with glowstone duplication recipes, TC requiring three torches and a dye per glowstone dust and Botania requiring either a ton of mana or a redstone dust and far less mana per glowstone dust. Either way you're going to be running through glowstone at a rapid pace going forward, so either upgrade your manual gathering efficiency or, ideally, set up some kind of automation for glowstone dust. The sideways magic progression is because it makes advancing tech progression easier, and it's something you want to get into early because going too far into tech progression makes magic progression obsolete. The pre-moon discount interdimensional wireless AE2 terminal setup, for instance, is far less impressive when you've got a quantum link set up in your Spectre Dimension, giving you access to your AE2 network from anywhere. Magic Mirrors in general fall off pretty hard when you're at the point where simply following the questbook's multitude of IV chemical lines will make it rain Ender Chests/Tanks like they're going out of style, for that matter. If you want to do magic in GTNH it pays off to get into magic as early as you can, because once the tech starts rolling in magic is just kind of...there, for the most part. I can already feel the single block EV/IV gens making people go full casual mode, forgetting even the simplest of solutions to these sorts of problem. Something you absolutely can do in these sorts of situations - though how you'd get into one in the later versions is beyond me at this point - is hook up an EV tier machine to an HV line and give it an EV battery inside the battery slot. The machine will only get 1A HV from the line, since that's the most that single block machines can accept to actually run recipes, so it will drain the battery as it crafts. But when it's not crafting that battery will be refilled off of the HV power, meaning if you don't use the machine again for long enough it'll be ready to go by the time you craft the next batch. Nanocircuits specifically, bar the LuV tier Nanoprocessor Mainframe, only require 600 EU/t to craft. Say the machine gets 500 EU/t from the HV energy line, a 10M EU battery will last for over an hour of straight crafting, and when the crafting finishes it'll recharge the battery five times faster than it was being drained during the crafting process. Obviously other EV/IV machines won't necessarily have nearly this beautiful a setup in this regard, but still. You don't need an EV gas turbine to run an EV circuit assembling machine, at least to batch craft a bunch of nano circuits. For the record while the Integrated Processor (to use it as an example) is the highest grade of MV circuit, being a direct craft without requiring any LV tier circuits, this isn't the end in terms of upgrading circuit crafting. In mid-late IV the option of crafting SoC chips opens up with access to Naquadah doped wafers, which opens up an even cheaper recipe to craft these MV circuits. In fact ULV circuits can already make use of SSoC wafers. Likewise mid-late IV is when you first can consider switching over to Advanced SMDs, which would cut the crafting time of circuits in half in return for using those (much more expensive) advanced SMDs. Then later on in LuV the Circuit Assembly Line becomes an option, which will completely overhaul circuit crafting and make it even more efficient, though even that won't be the final word in upgrading circuit crafting. There's still plenty more to come, so don't go thinking that anything being set up at this point is truly "permanent" until endgame.

I've been taking your advice from this series and taking my time in each stage as I go. On my first playthrough/world, and I've been satisfied playing around in late steam age for a decent while now since I spent the time to build a good starter base and move everything the 1000 blocks over to it. I've unlocked LV stuff but only crafted a bit of it yet. But I'm super proud to say that I've got an automatic ore processing chain! I mean, I have to put in just one kind of ore at a time but then it macerates, smelts the crushed for the extra nugget, and then grinds those into dust and recombines into dust in the compressor. From there, depending on what I want to do with the dust I sometimes disconnect the smelter array to keep it as dust for the BBF or alloy smelter. It's all automated mainly using hoppers and some redstone, like comparators (and the occasional item pipe from the hoppers, but it doesn't take a stack if it's from a hopper so the tin ones are way too slow and I don't often use conveyors yet because it's HP steam machines lol). Next step is getting to mid LV for more efficient rubber, cable, and plate recipes and then using that efficiency to make conveyors and maybe a sorting system. I really want to build one of those big steam grinders you were using!!

Btw batterybuffers (like all machines really) can accept lower voltage tiers. So there isn't really a reason to step up the voltage for feeding into the buffer unless you're hitting the amperage max (2A per battery) or are worried about cable loss. The only reason this doesn't work with other machines is because they are bottlenecked by their 1-2A input limit.

Threefold your work ethic/grindset is incredible. I'm taking a break because between my self imposed restrictions (no space/everburn urns) and poor playstyle, iv is such a grind! I may return eventually, I still have a few things I would like to accomplish. You're not as far from socs as you maybe think, naquadah is pretty early IV. IIRC you only need an EV mixer for hssg and an IV ebf (which is still EV) to make it. Maybe the boules require hsss (IV mixer), I don't remember. The ore itself comes from IV loot bags, idk what tier rocket it is since I can just get it from meteors. Or bees if you're just itching to spend dozens of hours grinding bees hahahahahaha. Also at one point you showed the crafting recipe for ae2 storage components, those recipes are complete trolls that should have been removed long ago. The circuit assembler recipes for ae2 storage components are much cheaper.

The autocrafting cpu units should get a dedicated room alone due to later expansion, considering the fact that you're going to rely on autocrafting instead of gregging around manually, since it's for granted at this point. Better setting it in one place and expanding it, rather than moving it around. Could save you some time later on once it's done.

What if you had the crafting CPUs hanging down the walls behind you when you're facing your main AE2 interfaces (like at 16:24). Have them assembled as single block pillars going down the walls?

@lesdmark

Crafting cards (as implemented in 1.7.x/1.12.x) are a good way to lag your base out and Nomifactory (One of Three's favorite packs) specifically mentions avoiding using them.

I dont know if it makes sense, but maybe setup an "alarm" that when soldering alloy is low, you know your crafts are not going to finish. Or have a Computer display the Status of things (like buffer full, working, missing ingredients for passive crafting and so on) Though I am unsure of 1.7.10 mods that enable you CC and AE2 compatibility

They create an high amount of tps lag and it's also a quite flawed mechanic (if not used on closed subnets) since they constantly take crafting cell spaces

Could you build the clean room walls out of stone (place the inputs and the machines) and use the wand to replace the blocks? I wonder if that'd work.

@davidaugustofc2574

@@Threefold. Objectively, Idk. When you said it was going to be hard to move the clean room I thought you meant planning where everything will go. You'd know how many extra blocks you'd need to craft and it would start cleaning itself as soon as you placed the walls, instead of waiting to break some blocks and place the inputs. (In my head at least, that makes sense) Or you could use the schematic as well, which I forgot you had access to before I made the comment

If a multiblock structure that requires multiple coils, such as an EBF or DTPF, has mismatched coils, does the multiblock not form (meaning the same tier of coil must be used throughout the whole multiblock) or does the multiblock work with lowest heat capacity out of all the coils used?
@Threefold.
@Threefold. Жыл бұрын
Multiblocks cannot mix and match coils. It has to be one type of coil used throughout :)

Just a short question about this "1 fluid P2P per liquid" setup. What is the advantage of doing this compared to just a fluid storage bus on the main tanks and then using fluid interfces to send it where it needs to go? (I think I remember you saying in a previous video that fluid export bus is a bad choice)

How can there be an elevator in the cleanroom if you can't have any blocks except those white ones there?
@extreemkb

There is a config file that is set to allow certain blocks and percentages for the clean room build. GTNH allows both 1 elevator block, or 1 travel anchor per clean room.
