GT: New Horizons Tips & Tricks - TheShadowofX & Threefold:: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
This episode in New Horizons we must find a new purpose to guide us as we progress. Starting with some automation for Circuit boards and then on to passively crafting the inputs using some chemical we have automated previously. We make use of all the tools at our disposal and have some fun playing some good old Modded Minecraft :)

The consistency is honestly insane. GTNH is a beast of a modpack, and it jas already taken many hundreds of hours of my life, but you Three have taken it to the extreme, building a detailed base, planning for the far future, automating everything non-stop and still having fun! Its incredible you still havent burnt out from this game, i am in awe of your spirit and wish you the best in your coming time with GTNH!

The easiest solution to getting lost is to plop down a to-do list wall of signs with individual tasks. Remove things as they get done, add new things as you close off major milestones or think of something to do. Ever at a loss for what to do? Visit the wall. Simple solution 🙃. Really should be phasing out single block miners in favor of multiblock miners, especially with the possibility of getting some (relatively) early Iridium to upgrade to T2 MBMs. Power is the first priority problem to keep an eye on at all times, and resource income is the second. Once you've got ore processing build up and supplied with steady power that thing should be running full blast every possible second, because sooner or later you'll be needing those resources. If you're interested in playing GTNH past what I consider the early game I really hope you like flowcharts. Because oh boy, does this pack not get enough of it's flowcharts. I called this stage the age of multiblocks before, well going forward we'll enter the age of flowcharts until endgame. Platinum is arguably the most complicated chemical processing line, seeing as how it has a number of different branches that all process at different speeds using different machines and different ingredients, but it's definitely not the longest. This is just the start, it's all downhill from here. Being able to look at an unsymmetrical build and just go "good enough" will save you literal hours playing this pack, even if you're going full lawn base. The actual impact this has is, admittedly, greatly reduced considering it'll take dozens of hours to progress to the point where you even have something approaching a base, not to mention hundreds of hours more to build one of a vaguely respectably size, but still. It'll save time here and there 🙃. Regular circuit boards you will largely obsolete by the time you can craft the microprocessor LV circuits, but they still see use in 4K ME storage components and some miscellaneous crafts. Not wroth crafting passively, if that's the route you choose to go with circuit boards, but worth having on autocraft if you're going to be doing a lot with 4K storage components. Or the other random stuff regular circuit boards craft. At this point it's definitely worth it to use PTFE where possible to get more output/faster recipes. Reason being that if you're lacking PTFE production at this point you're going to suffer horrifically trying to set up IV's various chemical lines, as LCRs are mainly made from PTFE, so if you're at all short that's a problem you need to address before moving forward. There's plenty of sources of Fluorine - or whatever else you might need - available by now, so choose one to invest in and go ham. One thing you might want to check is whether the plain boards have any actual use bar being turned into proper circuit boards, and if not you could consider setting up the AE2 automation such that it'll craft base components into proper circuit boards automatically rather than making them separate crafting steps. Doing this is a key trick to keep autocrafting jobs simple and small, at least as far as AE2 is concerned, although an even better solution - if you can afford the resources - is to just produce the necessary crafting components passively and not have AE2 craft them on demand at all. And this is GTNH, resources are never the issue. If you keep on top of your miner situation. Processing ores is the bigger issue. Reminder that ore processing Meteoric Iron - or Mars Stone Dust, if you're desperate - will yield iridium metal residue dust you can use to get some early-ish iridium. Alternatively you can process Chalcopyrite and/or Pentlandite to yield Platinum Group Sludge Dust, although both can also be used for straight Platinum Concentrate, so up to you whether it's worth going for PGSD. I don't know why EnderIO conduits insist on trying to connect to everything and the kitchen sink-well, the kitchen sink at least has a fluid input so that makes sense, but energy cables and AE2 cables less so. At least one of my designs ended up keeping conduits and energy cables separate just to prevent people from having to turn off a million connections. Maintenance Lights would make inspecting those turbines for maintenance issues a lot simpler. As for the rotors they only take damage when they're actually running, so they'll start to eat through their durability more quickly once more of the base is build and drawing power. Admittedly their durability is still very good, basically top grade for this stage of the pack in fact, but once they get going they won't last forever. Which is actually half the reason you automate shutting them off despite fuel basically being free. Some of you might be wondering why you want to macerate spruce into wood pulp instead of fluid extracting it into wood pulp and resin. Well, the simple reason is that particular resin has very few actual uses, and macerating yields over ten times more wood pump on average. If you're building a pretty base using wood resin is definitely something to look into as it's part of the Woodworker, but otherwise it doesn't serve any real purpose. One benefit to going the benzene route is that the 1,2-Dimethylbenzen you produce will cover you for carbon dust for a very, very long time. And if not that you can easily turn charcoal dust into carbon dust besides. Three is missing an electrolyser in his GT++ benzene setup to take care of that, but 1,2-D has uses elsewhere so that'll take some figuring out automation setups as well to keep at least some amount in stock, and only electrolyse the excess. Coils are still very much an important aspect of the multi smelter, since they'll determine how many recipes they can run in parallel, whereas throwing more power at it make it go faster is like trying to add a nitro booster to a bicycle. Keep on top of your coil multis, because expecting miracles from multis that are given spare garbage to run will only lead to disappointment. Always carefully check NEI for what you do and don't want to smelt directly. As a general rule ignore things like oxygen and hydrogen, since you should be getting those from dedicated sources. If your base runs out of oxygen because you run out of malachite to electrolyse you've done something seriously wrong. Likewise ignore byproducts that you're going to get in huge quantities anyway, like centrifuging cinnabar dust for 1x quicksilver and 1x sulphur instead of directly smelting it for double the effective quicksilver. Something else you can do with a lot of dusts, if you want to, is throw them in an EBF with carbon dust to get 150% output out of them. Malachite, for example, can take this treatment if you're desperately short on copper and need to get more by any means possible. Generally it's better to not bother with those recipes at this stage since the multi-smelter is a million times faster and resources should be plentiful anyway, but these same recipes also exist in the BBF using regular charcoal or coal coke. Though at *that* stage you're generally too hard-pressed to have your BBFs do anything but run steel all day every day, which is why people tend to forget these recipes exist. As I've mentioned before, if you're going to use MBMs with just local storage - and you can access magic mirrors before you can access MBMs themselves if you're sorely lacking in IV lootbags showering Ender Chests from the heavens - you'll want a dedicated drawer for the relevant dimension's stone dust, another dedicated drawer for the impure version thereof, and...it's actually been a hot minute since I tested this, but IIRC 12-16 compressed chests depending on what vein(s) you're mining and what tier of MBMs you're using. Veins like Lapis, Redstone and Apatite - and *especially* their Nether variants - are going to fill up local MBM storage very quickly, so prepare plenty of storage space ahead of time. Or bite the bullet and manually do the PBI questline for more IV lootbags in the hopes of finally drawing that thrice-cursed ender chests. Magic? Eh, we'll get to that eventually, at some point. Totally 🙃.

One thing to add is that platinum group sludge dust is actually 1.5x as efficient with the chalcopyrite/pentlandite for platinum concentrate, plus the rest of the byproducts that you don't get from the direct platinum concentrate recipe. The sulfuric acid from PGSD is also fully recycled, so I would say it's very worth it given that you only need 3 machines for the full PGSD "line"

As other people have said, If you're not aware of it, you should definitely look into the conduit probe from EnderIO. I'm not sure what the Gregified recipie for it is, so it may be out of the question for now, but if not, get it. It allows you to copy and paste conduit settings, and it will save you _so_ much time. As of 1.12 it can even copy and paste filter settings. No idea if that's the case in GTNH, but even still it would be worth it. The conduit probe has saved me probably _hours_ of mind-numbing copy/paste -- and I'm not kidding. Also, the pace you've been putting out content is absolutely ridicuous-- you are a complete powerhouse man, and it's all top-notch stuff. That being said, I think I speak for most viewers when I say that the number one thing we like to see is you enjoying the game, so don't burn yourself out. I would much rather have one 20 minute episode a week of you having a blast than five 40 minute episodes of you hating every second of it. Do as much as you want to, and no more. Keep up the great work Three! We love you!!
