12:54 Drone Nerd here. The drone in question is a Mavic Pro 2 Zoom. The Mavic Air 2 is newer, but I'd still choose the Mavic Pro 2 because if you're an idiot like me, it's harder to crash into things since it has more sensors. Those sensors saved me approximately 4.2 times on the Secret Cabin trip.

Hahaha... knock on wood! I have not crashed sideways yet, but it's been a close call a couple of times. But the size of the air 2 and follow mode is nice to have 😊

Have you checked out the Skydio drone? The "follow me" ability of that thing is amazing. Check out ridefreakTV on KZbin.

@@dahveed284 I have, yea: I’m assuming they have a coven of witches imbuing it with dark magic to get it to work that well? Amazing technology. Having said that, I’d still have my DJI: the video quality, and range are just that much better. Thanks for the tip on ridefreaktv these vids are ace!

@@tshansen my most butt clenching moment was when I lost sight of it flying up a river under tree cover. They do odd things when you fly them low over water, don’t they. I’d love to have all the features of the Mavic pro in a smaller form factor that I could charge more easily. A lot of my luggage was dedicated to charging those giant batteries since you can’t get enough amperage out of a portable battery pack to do it. Even soldered up some dedicated cables for it.

@@wil.linssen Yeah, i have experienced one time a sudden drop in altitude over water, but i was high enough so it was no problem (Air 2) we talk 30 - 50 cm of drop. Almost like the sensors cant read over flat water? Not sure. I have a extra outlet on my bike and a car charger for my batteries. Charges on the bike with no problem. So that alone is actually reason enough to not go for the pro.

I do understand where Ollie and other people coming from, i think we all get there. What equipment do people use to get those shots, because this is the most easy thing to upgrade. But as you say, the story is always the main thing that makes videos stand out or make it special, and i think this is one thing you show so brilliantly in your older videos Greg 🔥 Hehe, interesting to hear about the GoPro, everyone has that entry to this whole ting, but i take myself using it less the more i get into filming. It is brilliant for it's use, but it is easy to get "lazy" with the gopro. You are spot on with the drone stuff, and i totally agree. I have to give RØDE a big shout out when it comes to great audio... The wireless go makes the job so insanely easy, and the shotgun mic's are amazing. You should check theim out. And it dont take any space to take with you. Great video mate.... appreciate to hear how you use your equipment. Take care 👏🏻

Hi Greg, thanks again for sharing your “simple” crafty and authentic vision. Today it’s easy to get lost in the data sheets, motorcycle specs and all kind of comparisons. Can’t wait too see what you have to say and how you work on your storytelling. Till then take care of the pr7 and go electric😉

Thanks! Still not sure about electric yet. Expensive to get anything with the range that is viable.

Great stuff! Are you not worried about the cam getting killed while sitting in your tank bag? Even riding on the street I am worried the vibrations will end up destroying the IBIS.
@GregVillalobos

So far the IBIS has been fine. The only issue I have had is that the mechanical shutter failed on my GH5. Not sure what the cause was.

Thank you for doing a video like this. I've always wondered what sort of camera set up you used. You've actually inspired me to start making some films myself so this has helped me a lot in deciding what gear to source. I made one a few years ago of me green laning around Salisbury plain but it was all shot on a GoPro with a tripod so the footage looks so far away. Cheers.

That's great! Yeah, you need to be super close for GoPro to work well. Happy shoot and riding!

Thanks for making this video. I'm a moto filmmaker too and I have a similar setup. Sony alpha, Go Pro and small tripod. Always looking for ideas to improve. I considered the tank bag, but worry about vibration and impact because I ride a WR450f fast off-road. So I carry it on my back. Not heavy. Other stuff I can strap on the bike itself.

Another great informative vid. Based on more than 8 years of experience, your back to basics, meaning essentials, is most valuable advice. Just wandering about software you use to realise and produce your so attractive vids ? I expect you spend a lot of time to edit , do you ?

I have a rule of thumb that says 1 minute of filmed footage = 10 minutes in the edit. It soon adds up! The trick is to shoot less but make it count. I use Adobe Premiere to edit. Good luck!

Excellent video Greg, funny how we can perceive needs differently. I stopped taking my mirrorless camera as it always seemed to be a bit of a faff to get it out, I now have a GoPro hero 8 which along with my phone is the only thing I take, the only issue is battery life on the GoPro. I need more to work on my editing and production which at the moment is both non existent and lacking 😂

Top video dude, I feel special! 😂 It seems like we are one and the same - I was planning on making a similar video but I’d just be saying the same stuff: weight vs effectiveness is always an issue on bikes, audio is always the Achilles heel, don’t overdo one shot (the drone etc), have a ‘good’ (I use a G85) and ‘quick’ (for me, GoPro) camera, and story is the most important thing. I get away with so much utter rubbish camerawork because what is happening is interesting to the viewer. It’s also interesting that you’re using a fixed 50mm lens most of the time - I never use mine, even though it’s an expensive lens and much better quality than my cheap zoom, because I find a zoom lens mega handy to frame quickly when things are happening fast. The joys and difficulties of adventure filming is that you have to capture things as they happen! Thanks again bud! #shootandride
