Yeah I agree with you on Disney and the voyage of the dawn treader. Not sure I share your same optimism about the new remake. Rings of power had plenty of money and talented people behind it, that didn't stop them producing something that looked nothing like anything Tolkien had or would of written.

Thinking of Aslan and the women taking the lead - just think about the initial Resurrection accounts, it is the women that are first to report AND believe the Resurrection account. This is something Lewis was intentional to point out with the allegory in that the men were more hesitant than the women to believe.

I loved the Disney version, except the Caspian movie. But the new movies, new cast, new director, Netflix ? No thanks. I bet it's gonna be full of STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS (Lucy, Susan, Aravis - they're probably gonna be the leaders, they will fight, gonna be better than the boys) Those are my expectations for the new Narnia movies.

I think if they have the girls fighting then it would have gone too far, Lewis had some very specific thoughts on that subject and made it a big part of the series.

I’m so excited about Greta Gerwig directing the Narnia movies. I mean, my first love is always reading the books. But I know many kids and parents will be drawn to buy and read the series after watching the movies. And I don’t want the wonderful stories and legacy of Narnia lore to end with my generation. Christians: live generously, live with an open mind and heart.

@@Underdogtheology Most everything I’ve heard of that film from people I trust has been overwhelmingly negative. In top of that, modern Disney had earned my ire and distrust over the past ten years, due to repeated propaganda and just generally bad filmmaking. The Star Wars Sequal trilogy is just one example. Well, that, and I’d honestly just want someone to faithfully adapt C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy. That’s been my favorite for a long time, and it’s highly underrated.
