So a cover band with a far less than Bonzo, far less than Page, a decent Robert Plant is as good as the real thing, even though the real thing is the basis for the real thing and doesn't have to live up to anyone but themselves. I'm so glad we put no value on authenticity anymore. The White Stripes is a Zeppelin influenced band that does right by those influences. These are just fucking copycats.
@ethangabizon71336 жыл бұрын
yeah; led zeppelin was groundbreaking, revolutionary, and every member was a master of his craft. this band is rehashing what was done 40 years ago and i feel like the reason they have so much popularity now is because theyre kind of cashing in on the nostalgia of zeppelin fans who want to see the same style return to the mainstream. i understand theyre still a fairly new band so they need time to grow and develop, but cashing in on being an inferior led zeppelin will not last very long for them. i hope they do find their own style, because id like to see this band be successful. i think they could do much better and be a driving force in contemporary music, if they make their own path for themselves instead of following someone elses

Boy is this some revisionist history. Led Zepplin's been sued to hell and back multiple times for basically co opting African American Blues Music and playing it on cranked amps. The Lemon Song is Howlin' Wolf's Killing Floor. Dazed and Confused was a blatant rip off and rearrangement of a contemporary artist named Jake Holmes. Whole Lotta Love was a take on a Muddy Waters song. Almost every song you can think of from the Zepplin catalog has a wikipedia entry about how it "borrows" from an earlier song by someone else. Zep is my favorite band, but let's be honest here. They "stood on the shoulders of giants."

Dude is talkin bout popular music today. He's totally right, were on the tipping point of rap being the dominant force or rock coming back in general. This shit is on the radio and in some cases kids are getting their first taste of rock and roll.

Stp was just an example of a classic sound, I get that. No band from the 90s had a duplicate of Stp much like led zep had a duplicate of the 70's. Makes perfect sense to me

That's wonderful Robert likes them :) I thought he might ;) Now, since the new Zep is sorted, anyone found a new MkII Deep Purple? :D DP & LZ were great rivals back in the day. We must have both!

You haven't looked in the underground scene man. Like J.J. Frost, he's a killer guitarist, got some good old school sounding stuff. Some is 70's classic rock, so goes to the psychedelic 60's to the blues. Rock 'n Roll is still being made by people of today. KZbin has a scene of underground rocker.
