I still have to check this album out. I didn’t listen to their 2021 either. I might start with that one and then listen to the new one.

I absolutely LOVE this album. I play it every single day since it dropped. Sometimes, 3,4,5 times a day. I also bought a couple other new releases that day, & I've barely played them! GVF is playing Oakland Arena tonight, & I live about 2 - 3 hours away & couldn't go. I've been heartbroken all day. I LOVE this band.

That is cool. This album is pretty good. My favorite song right now is the archer.

A month ago, Josh Kiszka, the vocalist, publicly came out as gay while speaking out against Tennessee's anti-drag laws.

They have LZ influences for sure, but also influences from blues greats that many of the British invasion groups evolved from. Consider GVF a continuation of 70s rock which many have been clamoring for. Josh has his own sound, more melodic and a higher range than Robert Plant. As matures, I get more of a Jon Anderson and Ann Wilson vibe from his singing. The other members are much more developed as musicians over the past 5 years or so. Touring around the world to big crowds certainly helps.
@jcrockandmetalreviews Жыл бұрын
Yes, that is true. They have really grown as musicians.
@Tityretupatulae Жыл бұрын
Critics focus on the Led Zep comparisons because they don’t really know of many other bands from the 70s. That is the sad truth. They even fail to realize that GVF have made fusion of world music with rock in more than one occasions

Hi John!!! i think for many years this band will have to deal with the Zeppelin comparison, for good or bad that will the main issue..... you can hear the influence in their sound and less on the vocals, to me now the sounds more like a young Geedy Lee with that high pitch. cheers and be well
@jcrockandmetalreviews Жыл бұрын
Yes their first album sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin when they released their album two years ago they started to sound like Rush now they have a mixed sound but the Led Zeppelin sound is still there.

Why don’t people ever compare them to the bands that LZ were influenced by.

Sacred the thread is when the levy breaks, I can’t get past that, the indigo streak has a great riff but the vocals tank the meeting the master is cool, the archer is great
@jcrockandmetalreviews Жыл бұрын
I like the drum intro in sacred the thread but it was a classic John Bonham drum beat.

Doesnt even sound a tiny bit similar except that the drums are staccato And When the Levy Breaks is already a cover lmao

This album is really good. But it didn't hit my top 10 because many of the albums that were already released were really awesome. Top 15 for sure though. The only bands that could hit the top best albums of the year are Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus. Cannibal Corpse already announced a new album after they released one of the songs for the new album a month ago and Dying Fetus just announced a couple of days ago that they will be releasing a new album September 8. Cannibal Corpse September 22. Can't wait for these 2 new albums. A lot of the best albums have been from bands that have been around for many years.

I really became a fan of their last album “battle”. The new album is really disappointing after a couple of listens. There are a couple of very good tunes like Sacred The Thread and the mesmeric Meeting The Master. The Archer is quite good too but the rest annoys me quite a bit hehe! Oh well GVF have lost me again…
@jcrockandmetalreviews Жыл бұрын
This one was a lot more laid back and psychedelic. I thought it was good. Maybe it will change after a few more listens.

Dude runway blues is good, but it is heartbreaker and whole lotta love combined
@jcrockandmetalreviews Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that one sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin
@Tityretupatulae Жыл бұрын
there is absolutely nothing of those 2 songs in runway blues, if not the blues roots themselves. Saying that song sounds like Zep is very naive and it shows the lack of musical knowledge of the blues and the roots music in general
