What I love most about gvf is their ability to match the music to the lyrics and sentiment of their songs. Absolute musical geniuses!

My favorite song out of their whole catalog so far. It sounds better live because they open it with a huge improve section.

Somebody had a great point that music sounds like machine working at the beginning and when solo starts, the machine starts to break up and later the outro is machie being destroyed

I like the spinning camera in both Heat Above and AofM music videos - a very "holistic" visual symbolism.

Great analysis of a deeply important song. This was the second single off the album and still one of their strongest pieces.

I was waiting every day for you to listen to this one as it is my (current) favorite. It’s just the whole package for me…lyrics, music, video. And hearing Jake shred this live and especially hearing Josh sing that ending chorus just gives me such feels. I know they are all big fans of Kubrick and 2001:A Space Odyssey and in some ways I think the “God Machine” is a nod to HAL which is also a warning against technology. Pretty great stuff.

Yeah I got a similar meaning from this one. This, although badass on the record, was crazy good live. The drop D gives it this sinister feel, and jakes energy with this one on stage was insane.

That's a really good description of what this song is about. This track took me a good few listens before I got into it. I now think it's one of their best, lyrically.

What can I add that hasn't been been said about GVF and their massive creative talent, other than just when you've think you heard your favorite song from them another one comes along!! Thanks Shotgunn for your on point informative reaction(s) always interesting!! 💯🤘🏻

This is my second favorite song on the album, there’s so many different emotions this song evokes. Eerie and mesmerizing, and the guitar solo absolutely rocks like usual.

I was just looking over some stuff in my "archive", as it were (I've got something like 6000 GVF pictures and videos collected 😳), the solo in this was the #1 solo (reader's choice) of 2021 in Guitar World magazine. At the time the song seemed so heavy and ominous for them, but in hindsight it might be a taste of what's coming in the new album. Not saying I didn't love it ~ I'm an old metal head too lol I love the heavier songs, this whole new album could be full of Machines and Nations and Dreams and it would be fine with me. I think they could pull it off.

If you notice in the beginning there is a doorway/portal that is also in the beginning of Heat Above. Not sure of the significance of it, but I’m sure it means something.

Happy to see this reaction ! This song is a strange one as many other fans seem to say the thing.I liked it on first listen but wasn’t that taken back, now it’s one of my favourite greta songs after listening to it so many times. It feels like a spiritual experience. It will be interesting to see your reaction when you review the songs again after listening to them consecutively. I always have to skip “my way soon” because it makes no sense to me musically in this album, aside from that this album peaks when listened to from start to finish.

I love to hear that about the album from start to finish… I’m an album guy. When I listen to music it’s almost exclusively entire albums. When I’m the one in charge of the music, I never choose random or any sort of playlist. Album after album. That’s just how I roll! However, I am still able to enjoy when someone else has a playlist or random music on. Thanks for your comment!!

Highway Tune had no chorus either. The boys didn't even realize it, until someone (I forget) pointed it out. They went, whoa, never thought of that! lol
@shotgunndunn Жыл бұрын
Now I’ll have to go listen to Highway Tune… going over it in my head it’s kinda like a pre-chorus that just goes back into a band break. Which is the main theme of the song. So it’s sorta like the ‘chorus’ is just the main riff. Which is pretty cool!

@@shotgunndunn When I listen to "Highway Tune," I think of Josh's opening "Ah ah ah ah" and I hear an engine trying to turn over/start. Next, is the tambourine which sounds like car keys rattling, the "riff" is idling at the Red Light, then Josh screams his vocal and that's when the checkered flag drops & the race is on! "Highway Tune" was used in the movie "Ford v Ferrari" PG-13, (2019) ‧ Drama/Sport. Starring Matt Damon & Christian Bale. I think it's kinda a cool way to interpret the song in a literal way

With their masks on, it's hard to tell Jake & Josh apart! (Maybe height?) They look more identical when they're dressed alike. Just my take! I could be cuckoo for coconuts!!

Yeah, at first I though Sam and Jake were the twins. Simply because of the long hair. But after seeing so much more of them they’re nearly indistinguishable apart from the radically different hair.
