My favorite part of this song is the beginning riff of the chorus. It really draws you in because the spacing is like a vacuum.

They used a Mellotron on this album and it sounds like it's in this song! I love that you noticed the "stutter" - which is the perfect word to describe it. Also, i think this tune, like Caravel, was written during Covid and added to the album. Great reaction, Mike! Thanks😊

These guys are just insane. I was always jealous of my dad and my father in law growing up when The Kinks (my dad's favourite band) and Led Zeppelin (my father in laws favourite band) were coming out. I am so blessed to be alive to experience this band they are legends in the making and the saviours of rock and I dont say that lightly. I cant get enough of them, for so long The Chain was my favourite song of all time. These guys have had 3 albums and have gave me favourite song after favourite song. GVF Army 🤟

@@Yeedeed It all started when I heard Highway Tune and Safari Song then Black Smoke Rising, A Change Is Gonna Come, Age Of Man, Lover Leaver, Age Of Machine, Stardust Chords and The Barbarians. One of the very few bands though that I can honestly say I have loved every single song, but those to name a few have been my favourites and ones I have loved the most 👍

@@Yeedeed yeh if im honest I struggle to find a better song than Age Of Man, it is absolutely epic. As much as picking one GVF song is a very hard decision if I was pushed it would be that one.

Really appreciate that you listen and comment on one instrument at a time; drums, then guitar for example. It takes a good ear to separate it all out and critique it adequately.

one of my favorites from the album! in the recent reddit AMA they did, they said they were " very inebriated" recording this, which kind of makes sense listening to it...but it resulted in such a great tune, haha.

I'm not sure this is it, but in a recent interview, they mentioned that they used a Mellotron on some of their songs. You're probably familiar with that instrument from the 60s, but it does a lot of different keyboard effects. They did also mention that it's a political or war theme, as you have surmised. I love their instrument work on this one, as well as Josh's vocals. Glad you liked it! Thanks, Mike! Oh, and almost forgot, it had a little flavor of Rush in the second part of the song, with that stuttering beat and the guitar together, or at least I think so. Thanks again.

I don't remember the song, but you were wondering how Danny could do high hat & symbol crash simultaneously. There is a video that might answer your question. Google: Jake plays chimes with the headstock of his guitar. I'll try to remember the video!

Hey man! I do love Chevelle! I grew up on Chevelle, as the first album came out when I was in high school, and I am familiar with all of Wonder What's Next too. After those first albums, I have only heard songs here and there, and I don't believe I've heard anything off of that album you mentioned because the name is not familiar. Give me a song to start with, and we'll do this journey!
