When I was dating, I used to think a guy will get over his ex and get him to like me more but it was really delusional and I was lying to myself … if he still loves her he will never get over her, it just doesn’t work like that.. that’s the hope of us women which usually fails.. best thing to do is not think about it just drop him.. it’s not worth it get with someone who has no feelings for his exes

This happened to me with a guy recently. In the beginning he was causally mentioning his ex in conversation, which I was ok with, until I noticed he was mentioning her in pretty much every conversation we had. It started to feel weird to me. So I asked him about it. He said it was just as a reference to the topic at hand. I said ok, I understand. But I took a step back and am keeping my boundaries, and seeing what he does, as I’m not sure about him now. Something just doesn’t feel right. I’ve dated guys before who were in touch with their ex, and I was ok with it in the beginning too, until their ex started calling our house and hanging up when I answered, showing up at his work, asking for his help all the time, spreading lies about me, calling him all the time, delaying their divorce, going for dinner with him when I was out of town, pretending she wanted to be my friend but then trying to bait me into arguments at mutual friends parties etc… it was awful. It ultimately ruined our relationship because he never stood up to her nor defended me against her unwarranted attacks. So it is a red flag for me and I will protect myself for sure. I’m not totally writing the current guy off as he is a good person and as far as I know isn’t in touch with his ex, but I think he has some healing to do cause he talked about her a little too much so just taking my time to get to know him slowly and keeping my boundaries. Yes!! The guy I’m seeing now...we dated for 2 weeks the end of August. His ex and him were split over a year and she was now married. She reached out to him after her husband and her were having problems and he ended things with me because he was confused and told her she could come back. I didn’t speak to him for 3 weeks and he reached out. We started a FWB when she hadn’t returned and he did all the pursing....he blocked communication with her Nov. 13 and we’ve been trucking right along. It’s been really hard for me to stick with it because I still have that thought of her coming back BUT, I’m just now learning about how to be a high value woman. He listens and communicates so well and I really feel a peace when I’m with him. It’s me who is now having to learn how to not be jealous, or how to remember my worth, without pushing him away

Curious what you think about a guy who has been separated from his wife for many years but still pays her (their) mortgage, uses their marital home as his legal address, has his wife on his health insurance, calls her whenever anything important happens, says he will never divorce her, yet is living with another woman. What does this say to you about this relationship? What about his feelings toward his wife?
