Sarah M I broke up with him a little over a month ago, he switched things and verbally attacked me then blocked me, he has manipulation and narsasistic character traits. Mine mentioned his ex almost every time I saw him, it was so annoying. He was also always visiting her place in France and London, he was way too involved in her life. I never bought it up but it made me feel that he was still emotionally involved with her. There were so many things that made me feel as if he wasn't invested in me. I eventually decided that I could not continue the way things were going. I feel much more peaceful now, which just goes to show that being with him was toxic for me.

If he sees her more as a match to him than you, there is nothing you can do. Doesn´t matter who is better than who... The important here is how HE sees it and what he believes. And if he believes she is better than you and fits him and his needs better, that doesn´t mean you are worse - it just means he believes she matches him more. Also just because you show a guy you are not threathened, doesn't mean he'll change his way he sees her. If he is an independant person with his own head and opinions, he'll still feel the same way to her, no matter how you feel towards her. He'll just be more relaxed and more confident to do whatever he wants now since he believes you don't pay attention while being so secure about yhourself. I think the most importat thing Greta had to establish here was WHAT kind of a feelings she talks about. It's normal to still have some affection inmediatelly after the break up, but if there are some LOVE feelings (although a guy would never admit to you those) you shouldn't waste your time there. If he already knows you very well, you have gotten deep into the relationship and he still can't over her, than it's obvious he believes her to fit more his needs. And it's his right to think so. Be careful cause their condition might have very long-lasting effects on you, trauma, PTSD etc. That's what I am going through now. You really need to convince yourself and understand deeply the reasons why you should just keep him out of your life for good and then stick with it. Be selfish. Try to have closure. My guy lives with his ex and it's so hard.. we have been dating 8 months. She is supposed to move out in 2, and I just hope he keeps his word.. they have separate rooms, and I've met his family/friends he has met mine. I trust nothing is going on between them but roommate situation, but it's still hard. - she cheated on him, then wanted him back. Hello - she did move out a couple months later. He kept his word. He no longer talks or sees her. (For awhile they remained in touch as she loves his dog and wanted visits etc) - we are still together. It’ll be 3years this June. He bought me an engagement ring and we’re saving $ to buy a house and try for a kid soon. I’m glad I trusted my gut and also, didn’t allow that crap to continue. Sometimes you just have to give patience and trust your instincts.

My boyfriend has a bad break up with an ex. Sometimes I caught him with sad eyes and staring blankly. I could only ask if he was okay. I couldn't bring up the possibility that he was hurting for an ex. I sometimes caught him doing facebook at late hours coz he couldn't sleep. My heart was broken. I pretended to sleep. me and my boyfriend only have been dating for 2 months and he and his ex dated for 4 years. They also had a bad break up. He oftentimes accidentally slipped his ex into our conversation like the things they used to do, what’s she like’ etc. He almost committed suicide because of the break up with the ex. That’s how bad it is. I was patient and even asked him more about how he’s feeling towards her and basically trying to discuss it with him til one day i snapped. I was emotional and I just wanted him to know how much it hurts me because people can be pretty dumb sometimes.. they don’t know what they did wrong. So I told him how i felt. I felt sad and heartbroken. And he kinda stopped. Until recently we stumbled upon his ex and i urged him to just say hi bcs if he’s not, it’ll be awkward for everyone. So he did. And he talked to her privately. He came back with teary eyes and i caught him stealing glances at her way. I hide the pangs of jealousy. So I soothe him instead saying it’s alright. And then he told me he’ll never love me as much as he loves his ex. I broke down crying told him it’s fine and I knew it. Day after he pushed me away because he realized he still loves her and he would always look for an opportunity with her but he also loves me and see future with me and it’ll be better if he ends up with me. I was patient for days when all he kept saying was how much he loves her and he can’t let go. I hold on to him. I didn’t leave. And that space of us continues to this day. I don’t know if we gonna break up soon. But I’ll meet him tomorrow for the first time after the ex incident. And now I’m ready to leave if he lets me. TL;DR it’s gonna be painful. There will be days where you question all of it. I find it’s better to just discuss it with him then you’ll know better. DON’T accuse him. Just ask him questions and be kind and understanding because he’s in a vulnerable place. If you think you can’t deal with the pain, let go. But if you think you can handle it, know that there is no 100% sure answer is it’s gonna work out but put all of your effort. Be super patient. Give him time and space and love him. Be there for him.

squishysquash So after that we were together for months til recently and then we broke up... says he wasn’t ready.. I guess I should’ve learned my lesson. If he’s still can’t get over his ex, he won’t be ready for a new relationship in the near future. It really hurts because it feels like all of my efforts just go to waste. Not worth it.
