Fall would be the best season if you can choose. It's pleasantly dry and cool, and the colorful foliage looks beautiful on the mountains. I brought my kids there in summer 2014. The kids didn't enjoy climbing the wall under the hot summer sun.

I totally agree! I’d love to see the Great Wall surrounded by orange fall colours 😍

Thanks for your sharing on Mutianyu. Is the walk from the closed cable car tower to the slide easy? Are they mostly sloping downhill or are there steep climb in between?
@GretasTravelsАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video! We found it fairly easy as it’s mostly fixed, but there were a lot of rocky bits and lots of ups and downs. I’d say mostly downhill or flat but there were some uphill bits too

Thanks a lot! I was trying to decide between Badaling and Mutianyu sections. Going in Sep. Mutianyu sounds perfect for me. Also I heard it is a less restored section, which means more authentic.

Nice, September will be a great time to see the Great Wall! I found Mutianyu to be quite restored, but I don’t know how it compares to Badaling so maybe it is more authentic. Definitely less crowded and the slide is good fun 😊

Thanks for the video. How long would it take to do it (cable car - toboggan) if you were in a rush? We won’t have much time there…
@GretasTravelsАй бұрын
We spent about half a day there and took our time with it, we arrived around 8AM and left by noon. If you did it quickly you could probably wrap it up in 2-3 hours

Thank you for the tip. Just to clarify, in 2:17 you mentioned end of March/early May. Did you mean ‘end of March/early April’ or ‘end of April/early May’?

Hello, I'll be visiting the Great Wall in October. Did you take the cable car up and walk/hike over to the toboggan section? If so, how long of a walk was it?
@GretasTravels5 ай бұрын
There are two cable cars actually, one thats more of a chair that comes up right next to the toboggan slide, so you could just walk around there and then slide down, and the closed cable car that you can see in this video arrives at the top around 2km max from the slide I’d say (can’t remember exactly) we walked loads because we walked first in the opposite direction and then back towards the slide. If you take the chair lift you’ll be closer to the slide 😊

Thanks for this video. I'm visiting Mutianyu in a week's time. I only just realised that I may have a problem as I am afraid of heights. Are there narrow sections on the Mutianyu great wall? Would you suggest I just take the cable up instead of climbing/ walking up and take the slide down? Thanks. :)
@GretasTravels4 ай бұрын
You will love Mutianyu! I didn’t find any of the sections particularly narrow, it’s all quite wide throughout, although there are some sections that are quite steep with steps. I took the cable car up so I can’t really say how the hike is sorry! But the cable car isn’t scary as it doesn’t really go that high up (compared to mountain ones say when you go skiing) it’s not that tall

Hello! I think it was 100 yuan for the slide, and you can’t book a slot, whenever you get there you just join the queue

Is there any photographer to take photos for visitors ?
@GretasTravels21 күн бұрын
I don’t remember seeing one sorry! But there might have been. I only remember the photographers on the slide down and you could buy the photo at the end (like on rides at fun fairs)
