I'm a 1970 baby... Saying that... I grew up with the era of rock that changed the world of music. The 60's were still fresh and the 70's were unfolding. The progression of music from then was ever changing and the memories of my childhood were fading flashes of summers and smiles with people who are now gone or out of touch. When i found Greta Van Fleet by accident I was swept away to those times but with a fresh feeling like I could close my eyes and see my old friends fresh young faces again and tell them about this new band to jam too and crank it up on the back roads in my old pickup drinking a beer and talking about girls. Thank you guys for the music that will give this generation a reason to knock the dust off the old albums and add you to the list of jams to go back roading with friends and make memories you can look back on and smile. I hope you grow and 20 years from now still be on a stage somewhere looking out over a crowd.

Their music is so emotional, it hits those spots in your soul. Be it super happy or warm and fuzzy. I still stand by the fact that these guys are old souls in young bodies. I wish people would stop "comparing" or saying they sound like this band or that band.. they are a hint of the 70's rolled in world that rock'n roll was dying in. They have brought an old school sound to a new world that needed this more than we knew. I cant wait to see them live in 2019 when they come down under.. I'm 53.... grew up in the 70's and 80's with some pretty amazing music! Was getting older by the whole 'grunge' thing, and though there were grunge acts who made some amazing music, I missed the melodic, and often hard rock of the 60's and 70's.... then the whole 'boy band' and pop crap came through, along with rap and all the autotuned crap that didn't move me at all! Somehow, I stumbled on these young men and they have awoken 'something' in me I thought was long dead.... I bought 'Into the Fire' and listen to it in my car almost every day. I even get their songs stuck in my head throughout the day .... Meet on the Ledge is one of my favorites. Anyway, the haters of this band can keep on hating because GVF is on their way UP, UP and UP! I pray they keep their heads and don't let fame/money/girls/drugs or anything like that get in their way, they seem like great guys! Keep rockin' GVF..... and thank you for waking up the cobwebs in this old broad.......

Emily Bean sorry for your loss. Hope whoever you lost is in a better place. And yes the song is really relieving. Plain simple and beautiful. One which hopefully will reach many and people will sing together to.

Emily... I am really sorry for your loss. This song grabbed me too... The beauty of it was that it made me think about old times and loved ones over the years. What was really cool was tho they are gone i still amiled. That painfully sweet smile. .. Hopefully tho you are feeling the grief and loss you can still smile. If the loss is great enough to make you grieve then they were a reason to smile while they were here. Remember the smiles.

It has been a while since I have actually been excited for a complete album to come out. Also to add, it is nice to hear a bass line that doesn't just follow the guitar and that the bass is loud enough to actually hear.

What you have to especially admire is of the four in the group three are brothers and the other is a friend of theirs. Hopefully that chemistry will continue, for if it does we will hear them for years to come.

The whole world needs to listen to this song, feel the depth of it's meaning and the energy it carries. This brings people together, makes us accept each other for what we are, it's about oneness, it's about love. This is truly an anthem

People forget that music isn’t about how fast you can rap, or how auto tuned a voice can be... it’s about the song as a whole. Meaning it’s how the guitar works with the bass, how the bass works with the rhythm, how the rhythm works with the lyrics, how the song flows as a whole. GVF has that process down to a T🤟

Strat. Attack13 Or people forget that music is tottally subjective and should whatever you want it to be?
@Matt_Lanzer_136 жыл бұрын
KingOfLegends23 well to me that’s what music is... and I completely understand that, but with music in today’s day and age it’s all about electronics and dj’s and stuff. I also never said anything about rapping not being a skill, I just said I personally think it’s less impressive than an actual band who have a good vibe going on. And when I mean auto tune I mean like old Justin Bieber, the stupid catch me outside girls music(🤮 so terrible it’s not even funny), and a majority of similar artists nowadays. What I dislike is when people use it to make their voice sound a certain way, and it actually doesn’t. Example, 21 pilots. Nothing against their music but have you heard them live? They sound nothing like the records😂. I completely understand vocal layering, especially where the Beatles are concerned, considering I was raised with their music playing constantly

Strat. Attack13 A rapper like Eminem has far more skill lyrically then someone like Lil Pump. There are always good and bad sides of things. One could argue that there are some really great rappers out there, or at least there were. Sweeping generalizations minimize your argument. Not all rap is worse than rock. Rather, some rap is far worse, but some rap is as good or better. Now, it may be a very small portion of rap artists today that are actually very talented, but talent exists in every genre of music, not just rock. (I only used rap as an example as you seemed to mention it most above.)

If you want to reach people, you can never lose the human element in your music. (Unless you're going for some opposite inhuman music, which is totally acceptable; but don't half-ass it, or make some semi-human, semi-sterilized, music. Ex. Weezer - Rosanna )
@theeoddments9606 жыл бұрын
Music mainly is about virtuosity. There’s a reason one hit wonders only had one hit, they can’t do much else. It takes skill for you to be remembered and that can be seen through any musical genre.
