@bradleystroup14575 жыл бұрын
Those Gretsch Streamliners are seriously awesome. Seriously underrated guitars. They're really well built for their price range. I think people who play more harder/metal styles would really he surprised and so would more traditional players. It's totally different feel wise to a similar priced 335 style guitar. If the 335 would be a Les Paul synonym, this would be close to a tele. after you have you singlecut, strat and tele models, this would be a 2nd tier add like a 335 and a prs would be. Seriously, more people need to get them

I have a a v stoptail version of this in Phantom Metallic. I am just amazed at how nice these look and play, considering the low price. They do not skimp on making these look every bit of a Gretsch, which has always been the more bling'd out guitar brand since it's inception. I also have an Electromatic Jet in Dark Cherry Metallic that is probably the best paint job I have ever seen on a guitar. I'm almost afraid to scuff it up because it looks so good. But it's gonna happen because it's just great to play.
@themaelstromnotebook2 жыл бұрын
A little delay, a little reverb, a little overdrive or fuzz also good. I have the smaller one with the trem in red. There's more access to higher frets on the smaller one but sacrificed by something of a neck tilt... apparently this can be solved by slight weighting at the bridge/tail. However, I'm gonna attempt to switch/part-exchange for this bigger model (in turquoise) without the trem. I need a single guitar which keeps very good tuning, and can be an all-rounder (I'll be getting a new amp soon, and hope to be playing the Streamliner most days). You said it is very distinctive, and doesn't have much variety of tone but I might beg to differ. A kind of happy medium between a Les Paul and a Tele, with twang? I think it has all the sounds I need (I'm playing folk/rock/jazz/blues) if I'm going for a mid-range electric/semi-acoustic good to busk/gig and record professionally. My red one sounds absolutely fine. On a new one, you'd just need to set up the bridge, play it in a little, and possibly re-wire the pots or upgrade the pickups later on if necessary

From Leo: The Streamliners are really good guitars, especially at their price point. The only problem is when trying to install real Filtertron pickups, or upgraded Filtertrons, like the TV Jones Classics. The holes are already cut for Gretsch Broadtron humbucker sized pickups, and adapting to the narrower size of a true Filtertron is tricky. Your comment about the Bigsby spring made me laugh, I always put the shortest ones in all mine. Maybe I should have saved the long ones for you.
@gerryjamesedwards12275 жыл бұрын
That's a shame, the first thing I thought was: "That would be awesome if you chucked some Lollartrons in there.". They made a big improvement (to my ears) to Rhett Shull's Black Falcon.

Do you know if those pickups have ceramic or alnico magnets? I ask because I've spent an hour online trying to find the specs and I can't find anything definitive, even over at the Gretsch user forum. I know some people say they are a little "muddy" (which makes me think of ceramics) and have a high output (which also makes me think of them as having ceramics) ... but I know you can also have those traits in a pickup with alnicos.
