to be honest, after knowing this I really feel that Ellen Pompeo did the right thing by raising her voice for more money. it makes sense that she should be paid the highest because it's Meredith's life and not Derek's... Derek was an essential part of Meredith's life but Meredith is the key character she is the hero of the whole story. and now that I think in retrospect I kind of loved the seasons after Derek died more than when he was around....I'm sorry if I upset any Derek fans but that's the truth for me.

That reasoning doesn't really make sense because she's an actress and it's it really her life story. The title Grey's Anatomy was actually just a play on the book Gray's Anatomy a d wasn't the original name of the pilot. Now, this isn't an argument to suggest that I don't think she should be paid more. I personally feel like it is and has always been an ensemble cast and after the show's popularity, the main cast should have banded together for equal pay, like the Friends cast. But, that's certainly an unpopular opinion.

Lesson from this : never name a show after a character, I think Ellen has struggled during the years feeling less appreciated than Patrick, and feeling she basically gave her life for this show, while other actors like Kathrine had a chance to succeed outside, but eventually when she gets the chance she kinda controlled the show it's all about Meredith now and not in a good way, shows that depends on one character fails, we loved the five interns not Meredith when it's all about her it became less interesting, look at Friends for example they gave equal attention to all characters it remains an icon

Deema Nagd I just think Ellen was the one that stuck with it. All of the other original five left. For example Kathrine left for a movie and TR left because of Washington and his remark. And so the show has kind of fallen on her shoulders but she didn’t ask for that and she is the main character in the show and therefore should get paid the most. Also I think it was more about how Patrick was getting paid more because he was a man and she was getting paid less because she was a woman. I don’t think that at the end of the day it was solely about the number/amount that she got paid I think it was more about equality. Anyways the show isn’t actually named after Meredith. It’s named after the book Greys Anatomy.

The fact that Dempsey wouldn't even back Ellen up for a payrise shows what a great work environment that was. I always remember David Duchovny supporting Gillian Anderson on her getting more money because he was paid double per episode than she was on the X -Files. It’s not really about what KH did, but it’s about how Ellen expressed her feelings about it. Like what others said, after Katherine, TR, Sandra and Patrick left, she all of a sudden became upfront, self-righteous and vindictive. GA without McDreamy and AGIC is like boiled chicken. Edible but undesirable. Ellen is working really hard just to prove that GA will survive without the other important characters, that it’ll be as glorious like it was during the first few seasons. I think Katherine Heigl could have done it differently. It's like backstabbing. Shonda gave her the time for her to invest in her separate projects, even though she was on contract, didn't expect her to return the favor in that kind of manner. Even if she didn't mean any harsh feeling when declining the opportunity for that Emmy nomination, it's still just like backstabbing the show producers and writers that helped her build a career out of a role. She was inconsiderate and messy. But I do feel like it's been so long ago that it should have stay settled in their past, Ellen shouldn't have brought it up again. And imo GA's most glorious time was in season 6, 7 and 8. And then Lexie died, Mark died, Derek died, and Cristina left. They're still doing a fine job carrying the show up until now, but it will never be the same.

Isaiah Washington didn't make homophobic slur to T.R. Knight, but to Patrick Dempsey. T.R. was right there though when Dempsey & Washington got into their altercation. And while T.R. was not publicly out, he wasn't hiding from his co-workers. So, yes, he took offense. Washington made it worse by then during the Golden Globes press he said, I never called T.R. (slur).

Ok I love Patrick Dempsey as McDreamy and honestly couldn't see anyone playing the role but I think it pretty messed up how Ellen didn't want Washington to play Derek because it was "to close to home". So if her husband has been white her costar would have needed to be a minority. I'm not saying its a race thing but as a actress she needs to be able to separate her personal life from the show. Maybe it was for the best seeing how Washington left the show but, I personally don't think was she did was right

It was the 5 interns and Bailey who carried the show the whole of the first 5 seasons. She was entitled to her pay rise. I really like the Greys Anatomy cast. For such a popular, and long running show the cast is great. Basically all of the cast seem like good people. Isaiah Washington is the exception, I can not respect him. From just about everything I've seen, it seems the cast gets on well with each other, and no one hates anyone. Its pretty impressive. I love the show, and knowing the cast has so many great people, makes me love it more!

well, I don’t wanna disappoint any of u guys, but it’s just a solid FACT that Patrick and Ellen were great friends for YEARS. since the show started and up until the filming of s11 / until he officially left the show. sure there were obstacles along the way but they always adored and loved each other so much and loved being in each other’s company. It’s a shame they lost touch and haven’t spoken for so long....
