I wish he was more assertive with people like this, it's a difficult conversation to have but I'm 90% sure he could've left there with that dog. I've seen other trainers do similar things. "Listen, both of you are miserable. There's nothing wrong with this dog, all the "problems" he has are your fault. He's not aggressive at all, he's an intact working dog. His energy needs are too high for what you're able to give him. He needs to work. His life would be 100% better with someone else, you'd be happier too. It's not fair to him, or you. Please let me find him a great home with someone who will give him an amazing life and purpose that he deserves. I'll buy him if I have to." This dog would be an absolute dream to so many people, myself included. Doberman's are my second favorite dog, after GSDs, followed by Border Collies, Mals and Boxers. Unfortunately, most people aren't equipped or competent enough to own working dogs. Most people shouldn't own them, they just like the idea of having a "remote control" dog that looks cool. When in reality, it takes hundreds, thousands of hours of work to train and focus their instincts. It's unfortunate so many people like this woman get them when they have no business doing so. Find her some kind of Pomeranian or better yet, a cat.

Exactly, this is a learned behavior from her family. I believe if she continues and works with the new tools Augusto has given her, she'll learn to trust herself and have confidence in herself. Everyone wants to shame and blame, but her behavior is learned and would be doomed to continue. I believe she'll be okay and so will the pup but once shes learned to have self confidence. That smile at the end, isn't for him behaving it's for her being able to lead. I wish her well!

It's called responsibility. And I love her so much, I'd never just keep her locked up. My love for that dog is greater than any fear I'm facing. And today, after 9 months, I bought a prong collar for her finally, educated myself well on how to use it and we're both so much better now. Exactly!! He is such a wonderful pup and is so eager to please. I think she is a nice lady but she really needs to train him and be more assertive. You can’t be afraid of your own dog, it just won’t work and it isn’t fair to you and especially your dog (they have no idea why you are afraid of them because they love you and see you as their owner/parent). It’s too sad.

You handled this really well. This woman is stuck living in the "what if"s. She's got to transition to being present, to paying attention to what's actually happening. If she can figure that out, a lot of that anxiety and helplessness will subside. I hope she does, for both their sakes.

It's now I realize dog daddy's biggest hurdle is getting the humans to hear him. 😂

The people at my kennel were always surprised when I could handle the aggressive dogs and that they would react differently to me. That’s because if you’re scared shitless of a dog, you’re gonna have problems. I love how he tells this woman that you can’t be scared. But unfortunately all she does is defend her reasoning for everything. He knows what he’s doing, just listen to him! I have so much respect for Dog Daddy, this guy is amazing.

Exactly. Dogs, like children, can sense your emotional state from posture and even the smell of you. If you go in with anxiety, they will see you lack confidence and behave accordingly. I think also, some people forget that dogs have their own psychology and you need to address them that way, whether it makes sense or not. Little timid dogs act almost more like prey animals so you need to be confident but not aggressive. Big dogs, you need to show that you can physically check them.

He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book kzbin.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

That dog needs someone to love him and give him what he needs. You can't be afraid of him. He needs someone to give him direction. He is a beautiful and good dog.
