The trainer told her that but it goes right through. There is no understanding whatsoever. Some ppl need to be put down not precious loving dogs. They are so willing to please you to give you joy. Unfortunately, there's TOO MANY owners like this.. She got a dog simply to "have it" and a dog she thought looked cool. She didn't care at all how the dog felt. She only cared about how "inconvenient" his behavior was to her.. she wants to do NOTHING & expects the dog to just know what she wants & do what she wants him to.. And she's WAYY too nervous nonstop for any sort of guarding/protection type dog, she's bound to get someone, or herself severely injured or even killed.

I wish he was more assertive with people like this, it's a difficult conversation to have but I'm 90% sure he could've left there with that dog. I've seen other trainers do similar things. "Listen, both of you are miserable. There's nothing wrong with this dog, all the "problems" he has are your fault. He's not aggressive at all, he's an intact working dog. His energy needs are too high for what you're able to give him. He needs to work. His life would be 100% better with someone else, you'd be happier too. It's not fair to him, or you. Please let me find him a great home with someone who will give him an amazing life and purpose that he deserves. I'll buy him if I have to." This dog would be an absolute dream to so many people, myself included. Doberman's are my second favorite dog, after GSDs, followed by Border Collies, Mals and Boxers. Unfortunately, most people aren't equipped or competent enough to own working dogs. Most people shouldn't own them, they just like the idea of having a "remote control" dog that looks cool. When in reality, it takes hundreds, thousands of hours of work to train and focus their instincts. It's unfortunate so many people like this woman get them when they have no business doing so. Find her some kind of Pomeranian or better yet, a cat.

@@makaiperry- if I teach a dog to be bad, it's a bad dog, sometimes irreparably, especially if its bite inhibition is entirely gone. This dog was taught to be good, but then its needs weren't met. @nafta I noticed that title as well and it is so true. The dog is extremely good, alert and just needs guidance of a confident leader. She just doesn't get it and will not listen to DD. Everything is blamed in a different direction other than admitting that she is the problem. I know an individual that thought she was helping a child by doing everything for him. I told her you may as well shoot the child in the leg because you are crippling the child while thinking you are helping with kindness. I think she will give up and part with the dog. Well, I adopted a senior girl last year. German Shepherd. Pulled on the leash like crazy, was reactive towards all dogs, so I understand the woman's fear and paranoia, I too had anxiety, HOWEVER even when my anxiety was at its worst and I had fear around leaving the house with her, I'd still take her on at least 3 short walks in a day. It's called responsibility. And I love her so much, I'd never just keep her locked up. My love for that dog is greater than any fear I'm facing. And today, after 9 months, I bought a prong collar for her finally, educated myself well on how to use it and we're both so much better now. She practically doesn't pull anymore and I can feel like I'm the one in control and I can protect her.

@@Himmelmeere I had dog when I was really small, of course it was the biggest dog my father could find which in turn led to us losing that wonderful dog when we we had to move house. He wasn't let out, pooped and peed inside and got hit to which he growled and the new 'owner' shot him dead. The woman in the video makes my blood BOIL due to her setting this dog up in exactly the same way.

@joletty1793 A poodle? Have you ever actually seen a working standard poodle (not those little yappy things with the foo-foo hair)? They are extremely intelligent high energy working dogs that weigh about 60 lbs. They are used as police, hunting and S&R dogs. An actual poodle would walk all over this lady.

She doesn't mind or feel bad when DD says shes afraid and shes the problem here, because shes made "being delicate, being super gentle, super sweet" part of her personality. Thats what everyone who know her knows her for, and she loves the validity. It's clear she doesn't want to change, she doesn't want to "face her fears". This dog deserves someone who's more in touch with reality.

Sorry bit after watching part 2 I'm more convinced than before this dog needs to be rehomed. She needs to get a cat. When she mentioned sending him off to be trained as a Protection Dog says it all. She wanted a push button dog. Prince actually has a personality. This dog needs a strong experienced owner . She needs to move to a neighborhood where she feels safe. No dog should be subjected to her ignorance at this time.

Yes, that's what it feels to me also. She wants to get rid of the dog without having the backlash. So she makes it the breed problem. Dobermans should be given only to specific people, otherwise they say the breed is crazy and bad. No, people handle them in the wrong way and transform them into bad dogs.

And thankfully she had someone around her that looked at her as a human being who was struggling and believed in her. Have you never struggled? You know, it’s impossible to watch one video and pass judgement on someone with such certainty. We have no idea what she’s been through or what most humans go through from day to day. Love how Prince is looking at her during Dog Daddy's summary at the very very end of video (laying on couch). You can’t be afraid of your own dog, it just won’t work and it isn’t fair to you and especially your dog (they have no idea why you are afraid of them because they love you and see you as their owner/parent). The people at my kennel were always surprised when I could handle the aggressive dogs and that they would react differently to me. That’s because if you’re scared shitless of a dog, you’re gonna have problems. I love how he tells this woman that you can’t be scared. But unfortunately all she does is defend her reasoning for everything. He knows what he’s doing, just listen to him! I have so much respect for Dog Daddy, this guy is amazing.

Exactly. Dogs, like children, can sense your emotional state from posture and even the smell of you. If you go in with anxiety, they will see you lack confidence and behave accordingly. I think also, some people forget that dogs have their own psychology and you need to address them that way, whether it makes sense or not. Little timid dogs act almost more like prey animals so you need to be confident but not aggressive. Big dogs, you need to show that you can physically check them.

The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.
