3 generation doberman owner here , I bought a 50 foot leash and metal collar and chain attached after end , and run them on an empty lot for 1 hr per day . She has a European working line with high prey drive , they need min. 1 to 2 hour hard exercise per day or they will be unhappy. She could call the local Schutzund groups and get more tips on how to relieve their energy.

She surprised me. I think the treadmill is a good idea. Thirty minutes on a treadmill to lower his energy level then a walk or the dog park so he is chill and his high drive has been worked out a little. You have to do that with horses also. Most trainers recommend you Lunge your horse before you ride. With or without the saddle. I recommend with saddle because horses learn to hold there breath when you put the saddle on and tighten the straps so after the lunging you usually find the saddle can be tightened. This is so you will have a safer ride. Loose saddles are very dangerous. How to Lunge your Horse for the First Time Lunging is a method of horse training that involves driving your horse in a circle around you on a 20-meter rope called a lunge line using your voice and body language. When done correctly, this exercise benefits both you and your horse. Lunging builds respect and trust between horse and rider, and can also be an excellent source of exercise for your horse. Lunging is a common solution to horse behavior problems, and should be employed if your horse is bucking or running off with you. This method can be used to warm up the muscles of a stiff older horse before a ride, or conversely to cool down the high spirits of an excitable younger horse.

Ok...I need to take back some of the things I said in the previous video. The owner obviously was indeed serious about wanting help and I am so thankful she has stuck with the training program both with and without Dog Daddy being there. Such an improvement and this truly is a magnificent dog she should be very proud to own. He is beautiful, very smart, has a great temperament, and is now behaving as he should. Just goes to show you that in many cases the owner needs the most work. :) She seems to have a much better understanding of what she needs to be doing and following through. Owner has so much more confidence...I now see smiles instead of the constant worried frown/frustration/fear, and her genuinely enjoying her dog. Thank God she is seeing to it he has much more exercise...and maybe has connected the fact that the more exercise and stimulation he gets, the better he is going to behave while at home. Dog Daddy you have done an outstanding job with the training, explanations, encouragement, and praise when deserved. I know most of this is step-by-step and pick your battles while teaching the owner, but please, please teach her to not jerk so hard on the prong collar and that it is not necessary for every step taken or command given. She really needs to work on giving the dog a chance to process the command and respond before the automatic jerking she is doing. Otherwise...great job to all!

Thank you ma’am for giving this beautiful creature all the love & care it deserves. He sure wants to have fun & Dog Daddy is right, Prince is so powerful and has a boatload of energy. Is there any enclosed area where you could throw the ball as far as u can? I saw this one guy who had this sling, you put the ball at the end of a sling & he would fling the sling & it would go far. Or better yet some sort of air gun where the ball goes flying out after each shot. U first throw it many times thennyou shoot it out like at ground & Prince runs after it & once he knows it’s coming out he’ll be waiting and ready to bolt, and once he knows all this then u can shoot it straight out pretty far & wow, many times and he will want water & sleep. But yes if not the ball then treadmill might be nice if you in cold climate. But he loves you so much, you’re all he knows. A great bond & will only grow stronger. God bless you & your sweet pooch.❤

Ur a hero. Please get a shirt that says that n get her one that says Alpha if u do so! She deserves it for putting herself out there and standing on the neck of herfear uncertainty for this gorgeous gentle beast! She seemed prepared to live in misery and physical and emotional pain to keep the dog. KZbin comments screamed for her to get rid of him but never did SHE focus on that as a solution. Many good pets get put down on the daily because humans refuse to live with slight inconvenience and responsibility of a pet THEY ORIGINALLY SELECTED and brought into their home. This is a beautiful story, and after all u have been thru in your struggles I pray and hope it fulfills u to kno ur saving people from themselves and pets from ignorance and showing the transformation is an amazing brightness for many in temporarily dark places.
