That's so awesome thanks for sharing!! I was actually happy to see the air bubble under the film for a change: I often see crafters' pieces so perfect, it intimidates me. Question as well, would you still sell the piece with the bubble? They're gorgeous!
@GrimmsCraftingTales5 жыл бұрын
Hello! I would still sell the piece with a bubble so long as the piece doesnt look underfilled. As a personal preference, I like the evidence of a bubble (adds to the liquid effect IMHO) but more importantly as to why I like it, I feel like that slight pressure difference with a bubble, mixed with the substrate type (baby oil, etc) allows a different "float" to some fillers. The air bubble can sometimes suck, depending again on substrate, when using super fine glitters (they tend to stick to and get caught in the bubble rather than sink/float). Both looks, however, are gorgeous IMHO. ;)

make sure when you are sanding with power tools (and maybe in general) to wear a face cover, and if you can the best is a p100 mask or kn95 to keep dust from getting int your lungs!!!

@the.imprint7 жыл бұрын
or how about putting packing tape on one side and filling it in the bottom with resin and then wait til dry then flip it over fill in majority leaving a hole and adding loose objects inside then making a flat Buble in the left over space. it would be easier and more shakable

Instead of a UV lamp, you can use a UV torch (looks like a mini flashlight) or use sunlight. Both alternatives will take longer times for curing. 😊

@Mavibum7 жыл бұрын
Hi! Is the same process if I want to make shaker charms but with liquid inside?
@GrimmsCraftingTales7 жыл бұрын
Mavi Valentina This method can be used for liquid. Depending on your preference, you can leave liquid in fluid state or freeze before adhering top film. Hope that helps. 😊

GrimmsCraftingTales What type of liquid would be best? Plain water?
@GrimmsCraftingTales7 жыл бұрын
You can use plain water but I believe some inclusions may mold over time (I have not confirmed that yet though). Some use straight baby oil or glycerin (also helps with "float" effect). Some use water mixed with baby oil, glycerin, or clear school glue. I have used a water/glycerin mixture and water/clear school glue mixture with no issues as of yet. Play around and see what you like best. :) Hope that helps. :)

Hi thanks for the video. What kind of resin did you use and what did you use to drill the hole? Tia.
@GrimmsCraftingTales7 жыл бұрын
Maris Rios Link/info for resin is in description above. For the hole, I assume you mean for the eyescrew? I used a rotary tool. A visual aid on that can be seen in my full resin tutorial (time stamp in description of that video). 😊
@supervixen4047 жыл бұрын
This is amazing! Thank you so much for doing this! One question: for the part where you use UV resin to adhere the film onto the piece, could you use epoxy resin or glue like e6000 instead? Also, have you made any liquid charms like this and if so do you use water? I wanted to try liquid but worried it might evaporate?
@GrimmsCraftingTales7 жыл бұрын
Littlestar714 You can use epoxy resin or e6000. I have another shaker tutorial where I use e6000 and mod podge for the film. In my opinion, glue tends to show the film lines more...at least for me. 😉 I have made a liquid piece before using the same method that MiniatureSweet made a tutorial for. Use a water/glycerin mixture for "slower" glitter "float" and to help avoid evaporation/color distortions. 😊

hi , i was wondering if i did the liquid version of the heart shakers would putting a laminated photo in be fine? like would it hold up.
@GrimmsCraftingTales7 жыл бұрын
cyrena erediauwa I personally have not used laminated photos in liquid shakers. I would think the safer bet is to encapsulate the photo in the resin of the shaker and then add liquid, etc. My fear is the liquid getting into the seams of the laminate and working its way to water logging your photo over time. Could always do a test piece. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

hi i just started working with uv resin and i was wondering does ur resin also feel a bit sticky at the surface when u cure it or is that just mine?am i doing sth wrong?
@GrimmsCraftingTales6 жыл бұрын
Hiya. Generally means your resin isnt cured long enough. What wattage is your UV lamp? Some UV resins, when fully cured, may have a slight texture to it (wont be as glassy smooth as epoxy resin resin and can feel slightly sticky...but dry and hard). That's ok. I've found curing even longer will help cure that off. Hope that helps!

this is awesome..... Trying to figure out how to do it without that specific mold.....
