This turned into an ATPL Rnav lesson really quickly and I was not prepared to revise any more today 😂 very well explained Cap

Thanks for this, I've just been punching everything in in manual mode, didn't realise you could scroll the comm buttons. Do you know if it's possible to change the presets as the pilot? Edit at 9:00 :)
@Aeronaut19755 жыл бұрын
Yes, you do it in the Mission Editor. Click on your Harrier, and open the page where you can change your weapons\fuel loadout. One of the tabs (on the far right) looks like a little radio tower, there you change the presets for COMM1 and COMM2 :D

I'm still pretty new to DCS, and just starting to mess around with the Harrier. I'm trying to do the training missions, currently the laser guided b*mb mission. The first thing you do is drop on a target designated by a JTAC on the ground, and so far I am utterly failing to contact them. The instruction is just something along the lines of 'Use one of your radios to switch to channel 2 and check in with "playboy (JTAC callsign) ... ' I've switched all radios to channel 2, both the UHF and VHF (I think) but I can't get any kind of response. I bring up the radio menu, and one of the options says "JTAC LUV HUMVEE ..something, something..", and the options after clicking that one are 'check-in in 15 min, 30 min, 45 min' but none of them prompt anything or get any response. I've watched a few videos where people are talking about communicating with JTAC on various types of different missions and scenarios, mostly created in mission editor. What they do is similar, but when they click on the 'check-in in 15 min' option, there is an immediate response. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or missing here, but some help would be much appreciated.

But oh boy fun fun LOL connotation laughing out loud. That's the hard part with this no connotation to text. Smiling and loving it though. Don't doubt it. Giggling still. Too funny LOL

Very useful to one, like me, who has come late to the AV-8B-party. Any changes with the latest update?

ZRO - Zeroize Maybe? To delete everything from the radio, so enemy can't retrieve information when captured.
@Britchot5 жыл бұрын
Yes, this. Also to zeroize when loading updated crypto or, possibly, when the aircraft is unattended for periods of time.

Hi I tried to tune with radio backup but now not working anymore 1) Try in two different airports with a victor freq and uniform freq 2) Try on stable and openbeta 3) The radio control switch is in ON position 4) Try with radio1/2 selector switch 5) Try with freq preset from editor and in manual mode 6) Try with RSC selector in TR and TR+G It's ok only when using UFC Radio. Can you try plz ???

Hi Cap. Thanks for this and all the other great videos about the AV-8B they are very, very helpful and they brought me very quick up to speed. I have done some investigation on using JTAC with the Harrier and I found video's on the web of guys actually communicating with JTAC and using it. But what I can't find is any explanation and or tutorials how to set it up for the Harrier and use it. I'm making a lot of flight hours on the GR training server and I'm ready now to make use of the JTAC but I don't known how to set it up in the Harrier. Did you created a JTAC tutorial AV-8B video? When yes were can I find it. When not (yet) are you willing to make one? Thanks.

Judging by the frequency 156.000 I'd say MAR is the marine band, for use talking directly to ships.

The 40MHz freq is part of the HF band... not VHF. :)

121.00 looks a lot like the International Civil Emergency Frequency, but it is actually 121.50 so maybe this is just for show. I thought this since 243 is the Military version of the Emergency Frequency.
