I have a really dumb question. Is the purpose of using laser-guided weapons primarily because you can make bigger bangs than with a Maverick?
@hiddewieringa39113 жыл бұрын
I have noticed that the LASER designation also comes up on other GBU's. Is that possible or does that mean something else?

ED told me it is the Laser Reset Cycle.

GBU10, GBU12, GBU24, GBU38, GBU31-V1, GBU31-V2, GBU31-V3, GBU31-V4, GBU32 ....... so many bombs. Where's the difference? Which bomb for which target? Please a tutorial.
@Swatmat3 жыл бұрын
gbu 12 is 500lb gbu 1000lb gubu 10 2000lb the gbu31 are all gps guided variants
@grimreapers3 жыл бұрын
REALLY simple once you know them guys! GBU10-24 = laser guided(more accurate and can hit moving targets and different warhead sizes). GBU31+ = INS/GPS guided(fire and forget and different warhead sizes)
@Lxcx3113 жыл бұрын
Basically you should take the 500lb bombs for small targets like tanks, small buildings etcand everything heavier for targets that are heavily armored/hard to destroy with 1 small bomb like bunkers, bigger buildings, maybe several vehicles on 1 spot (parked vehicles). A 500lb bomb sounds not much but you have to take into acc that it (theoretically) hits always from the top and directly on the target so it needs less penetration and less explosive mass :)

@@grimreapers That is exactly the question: which warhead on which bomb and which bomb on which target.

For some reason I thought auto lase was already there, I guess not for that bomb. Some many bombs, so little time.🙁 Great video, straight to the point, thanks Cap!

The GBU-24 did not have autolase until this last update

Pretty small budget mate, especially for the flight sim world, maybe try picking up a second hand Xbox controller to start?

So what’s the point of a laser code? Isn’t laser designation just a point of electromagnetic radiation? And doesn’t the seeker only follow that point? Why would you need a code if it’s just a form of radiation?
