The "interval" release button just means one press one chaff bundle or 5 presses 5 chaff bundles. Every time you press it a flare bundle is released. Also on the indicator panel if you have the ECM pod mounted "Motverk" will blink at different rates depending on what radar it sees targeting you. The manual say 3hz for search radar 5hz for fire control radar and 8hz for CW radar. I found that 3hz and 5hz work ok but if you get targeted by a CW radar it just goes solid.

Sometimes you can get 5km closer due to the jammer. Close enough to fire mavericks(RB75) for example.

thats apparently what it does, lets you get a few km closer before being able to get a lock and fire

Let me get this straight. Basic stuff, almost obvious: so the Viggen has no chaff/flares without using up key pylons for countermeasure dispensers? :/
@Pandalf35002 жыл бұрын
yea, but when it does, it has like 200 or something!

Bind "Countermeasure dispense INT" to a button and you can release manually (no program).

Something I've never fully understand: does the jamming pod also help with heat seekers?
@AdurianJ6 жыл бұрын
No

If your jammer is the best, you can get into firing range without giving the enemy a chance to fire. And I am told that Viggen's jammer is pretty strong.

Nope. Some aircraft like the su25t have an ir countermeasure system that causes the heat seeker to explode short of you. Other planes have a missile launch warning system which will dispense flares/chaff if it detects a missile launch. Usually it’s camera/photo sensor that is programmed to detect the light flash of the rocket motor of the missiles, but they aren’t infallible. Your best counter to ir missiles is the mark 1 eyeball checking your and your wing men’s 6 o’clock and dispensing flares whilst pulling hard manoeuvres and throttling down your engine so it’s not as hot a heat source.
