You can reset your detached setting by pressing the nose wheel steering key that way you don't have to take your eyes off the goal.

*TIPS:* After you open the refueling gate on your nose, retrim. You'll have a ton more drag and the plane will behave differently. Don't focus/tunnelvision too much on the boom. Just fly in perfect formation and watch the tanker.

meh you need to constant trim it. due to the way the air is moving behind the tanker, only 1-2m will sharply push you up or down I just can't do it anymore. I use to back in 2.0, but now I am all over the place

hardest thing in DCS, you need to throttle up, as you pass a certain point you need to throttle down , then your plain will rise sharply, and on top of that you need react in advance with 1-1.5 sec.

Personally I think this method is just slightly easier (not by much), than the "probe and drogue" system, where the basket is at the whim of factors like turbulence before you connect.

Hello, good video, but some mistakes. You should approach the tanker from below. 1000ft in particular. When you have a visual, close in. SLOWLY. If you had turbulences turned on, you would be cast away of the air behind the tanker. So close in from below. If there is another plane refueling, you are supposed to wait on the right side, and after you are done and you wait for your friendly pilots, then you wait in the left side.

That is the tanker's true airspeed, not indicated airspeed. (You can see that Cap is at about 250 KIAS when in contact) The game has since been updated so now the tanker gives you his indicated airspeed when you make the intent to refuel call.

A nice little trick I found with the F/A-18 is to turn off the track IR during contact with the tanker :)

It's not that hard after you tune the sensitivity axis. I did it with an Xbox controller. Couldn't do the F-15 refueling, tough.

Yep, I had HOTAS X...no chance no matter the settings...could connect on my weak moment, but I was not able to keep it in. I bought T16000M recenlty, second time, full tank on first go.

Hello, I know this is a 1 year old vid but maybe someone could help me In video, I keep seeing a different cockpit than mine. The main difference is the look of the steering bars of ADI and the label on fire extinguisher handle (left handle say "right" in my cockpit) Is the a mod to get this cockpit or is it a game update that changed it ?

Make sure in the mission editor that the same speed is listed at all of its waypoints. If you create a track, then decide the tanker is too fast (or too slow) but only chance the speed on the INITIAL waypoint, the tanker will accelerate/decelerate to be onspeed at the next point. Also, if you have an orbit, make sure to edit the orbit speed to what you want. I think the default is to go to a minimum orbit speed.
