I think if it was pound for pound it probably would have won. But 5% is only 20L of fuel in a 27L engine. Because it only has a 400L tank Compared to the A10 which has capacity for 6000 litres. 5% fuel is 300L. So it’s not exactly fair. Matrix was right. If the Spitfire had a full fuel tank it could easily get to 30,000ft

Yeah they should re-run this at a normalized fuel weight load across the planes. That is a real test of efficiency.

@@jugganaut33I’m not sure if I understand your point, the A10 can still climb to 45k feet and has over twice the rate of climb. Unless you’re saying give everyone an equal amount of fuel?

Viggen is the best for flying between trees and under bridges. It's a super sweet ride in ground effect. It may need a little help from time to time if slope changes too abruptly, but you can basically set your AGL with trim and you'll feel the ground push you up and down as you go. A lot of problems with the flight model but that part is quite lovely.

I knew the F-15 was going to win the Height race! I didn't know if anyone was going to try it. I figured it has the best Thrust to weight Ratio. Great job Simba! Great job to the Team for having fun! I don't mind fun anytime. I will say though, I highly rather DCS, than Sea Power! But I am still learning to watch as well, as you are learning to play. So I do watch, but I may not watch all of it. Glad Y'all were able to have fun!!!

The thing you keep calling Macron's palace is actually le Grand Palais, an exhibition and event building constructed for the World's Fair in 1900, along with the Petit Palais across the street and the Pont Alexandre III, the bridge with the 4 large columns you landed on.

My guesses were the A-10, F-14, F-15, or whatever the propeller plane was (later revealed to be Spitfire after the top voew went to the runway view), initially saying F-15, but maybe A-10. I'm shocked that the Harrier did so well.

For the climb on 5% fuel the Spitfire didn't have much. The Mosquito would have been a much better choice.

An easy way in US engines a "J" is a turbojet (J79, and J85) and "F" is a turbofan (F100, F129, F135, F404, and F414).

Idk about the other planes but the F4 has an emergency pneumatic system to get the gear down incase hydraulic fails just fyi. I imagine other planes do to but ppl forgot.

The J-85 in the F5 is a tiny Turbojet, NOT a Turbofan. It was originally developed for a B52 decoy, the ADM-20 Quail. So its closer to a cruise missile engine then a typical turbojet. Its power to weigth ratio is very good and as far as Turbojets go, its quite efficient. Now there is a Turbofan version of it, the CF-700. It is an Aftfan engine, not a normal two shaft Turbofan. It was used in the T-39 and the Dassault Falcon 20.

@ravneiv well it did leak on the ground but they took off with I think it was just under halt tanks for the gross weight for the tires and takeoff distance then hit up a tanker

I looked it up. Someone flew a Mozzie under the Eiffel Tower in autumn 1944. The first flight through the Arc de Triomphe was done by French aviator Charles Godefroy in August 1919, in a Nieuport 11 Bébé.
