Now you need to put a crazy turbo diesel motor in the Vette and rally it out. Strip the panels and sell them along with wheels and transmission then make it a power cart or rally car.

Ethan alone with Edwin brings back Memories, Together just those 2 working on their First/Second Power Wheels, in the old, tiny workshop,... The Music, The Jokes, The Fun they have just Together is nice to see again, and the Fact it's just 6 Years ago is mind-blowing,... and when we talk power Wheels, there is still a Tank, with Batteries and also not forgotten the Fire Truck,... so after The New Humvee Project, I suggest instead of putting the Humvee engine into the Corvette, why not in the Fire Truck,... it would be strong enough wouldn't it

Having owned several 6.2/6.5 GM diesel powered trucks, I would say they would regret it. Especially since the flywheel kept breaking. Those engines are externally balanced, and have cast crankshafts. That leads to two or three piece cranks when flywheels or balancers fail. They’re also gutless wonders. 300hp is pushing it when upgrading them. Duramax in a Corvette, on the other hand…😁

That bullet case is pretty interesting, actually. TAA 10 indicates it's from the 205th Arsenal, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Meaning that particular truck either went to Taiwan for a period of time, or sme Taiwanese troops came stateside and likely ran some trainings with the US Military.

I used to work on Humvees back when I was a mechanic in the Air Force, I was at a training base that trained pilots and loadmasters so we had a ton of them sitting around, getting dropped out of planes and all that fun stuff. Flex plates always went bad like that, I think they said it's a manufacturer defect for a specific brand of them. Had to replace them all the time, actually it was the first thing I did when I got there. We had a Humvee catch fire and burn down once and a guy had to rewire the whole thing from the ground up. Our base only used old ones for training, the new ones were all overseas, so we couldn't just get a new one. I've always wondered what those things would be capable of with a few modifications, so I can't wait to see it all put back together

You might also like the build Gale Banks did. He went a more traditional route by sticking a Chevy Duramax Diesel into the engine by but the performance was much improved. A twin turbo LS Humvee sounds badass but them diesels have that low end TORQUE that is perfect for this type of vehicle. In any case I guess we'll see what happens.

There are going to be some disadvantages too. 1. Less weight = less traction 2. There will be substantially less torque at low revs. You will be working the LS a lot harder all the time. 3. You won't be fording any creeks or deep water with a gas powered engine.

@lorilombard8578 Ай бұрын
@@witcher71 I consider that my modified humvee is a rock crawler just as some heavily modified jeeps are considered. You are thinking buggies. That was not the flaw I was pointing out in your statement. Extra weight rarely means more traction until you get to bearing pressures large enough to change the physical properties of the contacting materials. Rock crawlers want less weight because the traction is the same it lowers loads on the drive train. It is one of the reasons I put an LQ9 in my humvee instead of a diesel when I motor swapped.
@witcher71
@witcher71 Ай бұрын
@@lorilombard8578 I don't consider a HMMWV anywhere near a rockcrawler that a modified Jeep would be. Way too big. The subject here is a LS swapped and basically stock Humvee. That LS1 is going to have to work hard at moving that rig. Now the guy has found out that the spring rate is all screwed up and now it rides like crap. Light weight buggies don't flop as easy but they do loose contact pressure a lot quicker. Trade offs.

TAA 10 on a 5.56 case? That's Taiwanese. So it's entirely likely that your newly LS swapped Humvee was used by the USMC and at some point in it's life spent time on Taiwan during a joint USMC/Taiwan armed forces military exercise. Military vehicle wiring is all black because the military does complete replacements. They don't repair a wiring harness in a vehicle, they replace the entire harness, then it's sent to an equipment depot for repair and reissue. I've personally seen this with a vehicle communications harness. We had lost crew communication, and since that's an operation deadline, we drove to the commo section, pulled the old harness out, and hung a completely new communications wiring harness. That was a fun day.

Got to say. It’s nice that it’s just Ethen and Edwin. I’ve missed it being just you guys. Was still a lot of fun watching all of your friends having fun with creating crazy machines. But sometimes it’s nice to go back to the way it was. Never going to stop loving your channel. Definitely my favorite channel on KZbin

You have done almost everything you could to this poor hummer without doing the one thing that would make the most difference. New coils, i didn't see you do them in the suspension overhaul vid. It's a 1.25 ton truck, that springrate is way too high for good articulation with no load in it. That's why nobody likes how they ride. That should've been #1 modification is to get softer springs.
@lorilombard8578
@lorilombard8578 Ай бұрын
I found the lowest rate springs (and longest) I could find on ebay for front and back and added Cepek adjustable shocks. They are a huge improvement over stock. I run my 42s at about 11-12 psi on most fast gravel roads and trails (down to 6 in the sand - oh those double bead locks) and it absorbs everything well. I do think I bottom more on jumps now. It really needs more travel. The Predictor long travel is H1 Hummer kind of money that I don't have. I can't wait to see what they do with this build.

In a high performance scenario I would think solid motor mounts for instant power transfer to the axels instead of waiting for motor to twist and hit the stops in the motor mounts before power goes were you want it. This would be a blast I can not wait until you get her finished.
