I studied Spanish for many years, but I still learn new things by watching your clever, well-done lessons. Learning to speak good Spanish takes a lot of work. You make it fun, Spanish Dude.

I'm a native speaker, you're the first gringo i know who truly understands the language. I'm a writer and often i come by just to "denaturalise" or, putting it in other words, understand the deeper levels of the language i use by default or unconsciusly

I translate acerca de to be the english equivalent of "surround/surrounding." eg.: they talked surrounding their upcoming international trips. personally, i say "se trata de" or "tiene que ver con" to speak on the subject of something. on a side note, i know in cuba, "sobre" is not used as much as it is in mexico and in spain.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I could really use a video of when to use hacer v estar v tener. For example: Describing weather, use hacer. Less clear though is why use "estoy cansado" but use "tengo hambre". When "am I something", "having something", and "doing something"? This is causing me an unbelievable amount of confusion.

in Spanish there are just certain phrases where you use tener and to be honest, you just have to memorize them. There's not really a way to tell, at least for the tener expressions.

Brandon Armstrong as a general rule, with tengo use nouns, tengo hambre, tengo cansancio, tengo un pantalón. With estoy use adjectives, estoy hambriento/a, estoy cansado/a, hoy estoy guapo/a.

Somewhere I saw two lists, two long lists, of the expressions you use with tener and hacer. It was funny to read because both English and Spanish expressions bounced between the two verbs (to have and to do) with no rhyme or reason. Yep, you can't "do drugs" in Spanish. 😃

Gotta be me, but I have never heard "de" pronounced as "deh." Maybe it's an accent thing. My South American friends always pronounce it as "day."

So just to recap, "acerca" is not a word? It would be "acerca de"?

No, but just with "como" would be fine. "Como 800 personas" means "about 800 people"

Jamon! Take a breath! You are speaking non-stop with no pauses! It makes it hard to understand. Make a statement, then pause to let it sink in.

Sorry, but I think that what you say about when to use 'a cerca' or only 'cerca' is not correct. In spanish, there are a lot of verbs that need a preposition after them, like 'ir' (with 'a' or 'hacia'), 'hablar' (with 'de' or 'sobre'), and more. So if you need to know if you must use the 'a' (or another preposition) you have to focus on the verb that you use. And the only way recognize them is practice.
