The mechanisms and game design have me very interested but the cover art and the resident card art has me thinking they are competing with meltscape.

This is only a prototype, and there are only draft graphics for several game components. The game's design will be heavily polished before it goes into mass production, and on many parts, the graphics itself will be tweaked or replaced. In any case, it's fair to say, that the visual style of the game will remain unchanged. I'm a bit old school and not a fan of modern, near-AI-perfect looks. I like it when a game has its unique visual identity; it doesn't have to be perfect.
