Ppl say that all the time...but I've also heard that's incorrect... because of blackfish and wanting to get them out of captivity they play down that there have been a few cases where they have attacked humans and possibly a small pod of 3 or 4 even maybe killing a man... allegedly. Possibly. Rare... but maybe happens...also there have been several instances of stalking and trying to damage or sink boats...so they want the overgrown dolphin narrative that wouldn't attack and only do in captivity because of human interference and a decay in mental health...which is all true...but doesn't mean they couldn't or havnt attacked necessarily before...I know I wouldn't swim with them...and I bet if push came to shove that alot of ppl who are so sure they wouldn't attack...wouldn't jump in the water with them either...

@@kol2han , I am aware of this it's been happening for a number of years. Mainly, in South Africa, albeit, in other areas of the world as well. Great Whites are not an Apex Predator. That title belongs to the Orca. They aren't just hunting juvenile Great White, but fully mature adults, 16 plus feet :)
@kol2han
@kol2han Жыл бұрын
in another case, a great white shark comes to study while orcas feast on seals. but the unfortunate thing always happens to great white sharks. Orcas stop the seal feast for 100 grams of liver and hunt the great white. but they also hunt tiger sharks, albeit very rarely. but I have neither heard nor seen that they hunted other sharks such as baskin shark or whale shark or hammerhead shark or bull shark.

@bluemarlin8138
@bluemarlin8138 Жыл бұрын
@@darrenlewis4010 The largest one known to have been killed was 15-16 feet. An 18-20 foot white shark is double or triple the weight of a 15 footer, and is much more experienced and dangerous. Those 18+ foot GWs and KWs probably just steer clear of each other if I had to guess. Otherwise we would have seen dead 18+ footers, and that hasn’t happened. Whether the white shark is an “apex predator” depends on where it is. In large parts of its range, there aren’t any KWs, so it would definitely be an apex predator in those areas.

Great whites are individually oriented unlike Orcas that are familial and hunt as groups thus Sharks have no chance when a group of orcas decide to gang up on a single Great White but I want to see a one on one battle between a huge shark and one orca that would be fascinating to watch!
@annabizaro-doo-dah
@annabizaro-doo-dah Жыл бұрын
The Orcas in South Africa responsible for the current dearth of GWs are only two in number. Anyway only one Orca actually attacks and kills the shark. The others take part in locating the shark. Any adult Orca is more than a match for the biggest Great White due to their manoeuvrability, power and ability to strategize.
@adeb9398
@adeb9398 Жыл бұрын
It would not be a huge battle actually. Orcas are very intelligent and know all they have to do is flip the shark over. It will stay relatively still then and the orca can easily remove the liver with almost surgical precision.

The Orcas love the Liver of the Shark. Normally a large portion of the Shark is left. Minus it's liver which is actually very large in a Shark. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨
