Grisport Avenger Boots - One Year Review

This video is a follow up to the first impressions video I did of my Grisport Avenger boots last year. After getting a good number of miles on them in a variety of different terrains and conditions, I thought after almost a full year, now was a good to time to follow up with a longer term review.
The views are my own personal opinion, and the boughts were purchased by me. I have no connection with Grisport other than as a satisfied customer.

Based on your review, I'm now a happy Grisport Avenger owner. Straight out the box they're comfortable. I'm currently looking at a pair of lighter Grisport boots for summer hiking and keeping the Avengers for wetter summer days and autumn, winter walking.

Got a pair of the Everest, very impressed, soles are grippier than previous pair, build quality and comfort is top notch imo....changed out the inner foot bed

I'm having similar experience. Really impressed with the grippiness of the sole, and yet they don't appear to be wearing down any quicker (which you might expect if the rubber is softer/grippier). I'm also thinking I'm not going to get many more miles out of the original inserts. Maybe one area they could improve on? Cheers for watching & sharing your thoughts on them👍

Thank you for two excellent and very helpful reviews. I have just ordered a pair of Avenger and a pair of Peaklander to see which suit me better. I was struggling to find traditional leather boots in my size, almost all women's boots are trainer type now. I had never heard of Grisport until a couple of weeks ago but they seem to have a very good unisex range that's going to suit me down to the ground! I mostly stick close to home nowadays (West Pennine Moors) so these should last me years. Happy walking and thanks again for this review.

I hope they work out well for you! I'm still very pleased with mine. The inserts are pretty much ready to be upgraded now, though. I think I may have mentioned that somebody fed back that the original inserts don't last too long. All the best & many thanks for watching!👍👍

Funny enough, I was going to do a review of my favourite hiking boots after one year of use too, when I come back from holiday. I will leave what my new favourite boot is till I do my video but they look a superb pair of boots, cheers Alan

I have had a couple of pairs of Grisport decoy boots for a few years now(9inch boot).......and for the price when I bought them they are a bargain(£90.......probably around £120 now)......put over 1000miles on them in harsh winter conditions working on the north yorks moors and they have performed faultlessly so im not surprised the Avenger boots have performed similarly......I use sorbothane cush n step insoles with mine which are fantastic.......Great review Des......ATB......Stu...👍👍

Great review. They still look amazing after a year of heavy use. That was a good bargain. We had never heard of them until you so it’s good to know. 12 miles is enough. 😂😂.

Thanks! Not sure if they're available in the US. It's an Italian company, and they only seem to be available through some smaller outdoors outlets and online. I don't like buying boots online, but these turned out great!👍☺

Hi Des- great review! I’m always interested in leather / cloth and waterproof/ not, plus high top/ low cut. I guess it really depends upon your foot and the terrain you hike on. Great that they are a long lasting boot!! I generally get new hiking shoes once a year. The nubs/ tread on mine wear down with all the rocks and hard surfaces here… plus I wear them quite often around town and get in lots of miles. Cheers- Jen 😄👌🥾🥾

Hi Jennifer. Yes, that debate over man made or not can get quite heated, for all manner of reasons! 😁 As it's quite wet over here, purely on performance I prefer leather boots. I also find they tend to last longer. The downsides are probably weight, and if they do get soaked, they take a long time to dry out! I tend to use hiking trainers day to day around town, and only use boots if we get snow (and we don't get much! 😁) Cheers & happy hiking!👍☺

Good review Des. I’ve never looked at these but if you think they’re good then they must be. 👍 I got hooked on Mammut about 25 years ago. I have literally this week picked my latest pair of four season boots. (Was starting to get wet feet after about three years of use on the last ones, which I think was the shortest use I got out of a pair of these). But I don’t do as much mileage as you I don’t think. Spend too long sitting around waiting for Sunrises and Otters. 😃😃 Have a good weekend mate.

I get that feeling on the bottom of my feet all the time. I'm wondering if I need to go up a size and put some really comfy and supportive insoles in. I'm a size 8 which fitted perfectly and felt really good. Then i did that 21 mile one. I think I lost my toenail because they were hitting the front on the way downhill. I have a size 9 in Peter Storm and had no issues apart from again the hard bottom feel on the feet. Are you in them all year round Des? I've gone for the Merrill hiking shoes but then you can't use gators either. So if they are all year round do you overheat in them during the summer? Extra sweaty or do they breathe fine? Hi Chris. I think that issue with the soles of your feet could definitely be helped by a quality insert. I find that the ones supplied as standard compress over time anyway, so need replacing. The toe problem, not so sure...could be a size problem, or maybe the toe box is slightly too narrow on those boots? I do sometimes wear Merrill trail runners in summer. But I prefer the ankle support of boots. The boots can get a bit warm! But with our summers, not sure what the best compromise is? Cool feet or dry feet? 🤔 All the best & cheers for watching!👍☺

They sound like a decent pair of boots des. Comfortable out the box and waterproof. I don't think they'd be for me though - I like a wide boot. But how good is that - you have another pair due to the strength of these. I think you've found your brand maybe. All the best. Mark

Hi Mark. Sorry for the slow response. We've been away for a few days. I'm really enjoying the boots. Not sure they're especially narrow or anything, but the toe box does look fairly rounded. So I was thinking that wouldn't suit people with broader feet? I usually use Merrell walking shoes as my day to day footwear, but just bought a pair of Grisport Kratos on the strength of these boots. Only used them a few times, but they seem very comfortable too. All the best & catch you soon👍
