Please Sarah do not explain why your children do not have enough junk food. It is JUNK food-no child needs junk food. If you had to much junk food people would say they should have better healthier choices. I guess people missed Noelle's birthday when she picks cake and ice cream for dinner! You children eat just fine probably better than most children. Love your family!

Nobody should be made to feel bad for what they feed their kids. There are many different reasons for their kids eating food you call junk. Food is expensive and many don't have a lot of Money to buy healthier options. Don't judge.

@@siobhanmcshanehill895 it's not really sad. Back in the 1940s and 50s, young people matured faster than today. It was common for men and women to marry very young. Many young women did not aspire to go to college or did not have the financial means. Most women got married and had babies and were stay at home moms. It was simply the culture in that era. It was a more traditional time.

@@siobhanmcshanehill895 get over yourself, dude. You don’t know that person’s mother. Based on OP’s comment, it sounds like her mother loved her and her other children very much. My great grandparents all married extremely young, and I had the blessing to know most of them until I was a teenager because my parents had me young-they loved their children, their husbands, their grandchildren, and great grandkids like me, and I was incredibly blessed to witness that love first hand. I feel sad for women who put off marriage and children until they’re too old to have them or end up with too many issues because they believe the lie that marrying young and having babies is bad for them. I got married at 23, now 26 and my life is huge blessing even though I don’t have kids yet! Good day to you.

My husband and I lived in an RV for four years & traveled all over the US. Our children were grown, but we took grandkids with us for short camping trips. Build a fire & let the kids roast hot dogs & marshmallows to make s’mores. Get a grill top with legs to put over the campfire to cook burgers, etc. Have a lot of sandwich items for lunch or dinner & add fruit or melons as a side dish. Use your crockpot & pressure cooker to cook in. Hang large garbage bags on trees at your campsite to put garbage in rather than going inside the RV all the time to throw things away. Be sure & throw away bags of garbage at the end of the day or raccoons will get in them. Just do easy food & maybe let the kids have a little junk food for snacks when you’re camping. Above all have fun! I love your videos & you have a beautiful family!

I only took a george foreman grill when we went camping. That way we could cook outside and some places didn't have fire pits so this worked great. We also used the grill one night (inside) when it was pouring outside to make smores (the girls actually preferred the smores this way) and still ask for the grilled smores all the time.

Do not mention junk food.lol….everyone’s idea of junk food is different. I honestly think people did not mean utter garbage junk food. Just snacks was the comments from what I saw. No one was saying give them cheese puffs, twinkies ect. Junk food can mean popcorn done many ways, pretzels Cold cereal, healthy brands, mixed nut spiced many ways, yogurts with treats mixed in. FYI I did not mention the hunk food. Health dips with homemade crackers, sandwiches, with assortment of fillings. The slant I saw was that. So simmer down people.

One trick we used to use when camping, was to make our spaghetti sauce ahead and freeze in ziplock bags flat. Not sure how this will work for you, depending on the size of your freezer I guess. Then all you have to do is cook your noodles, thaw and warm the sauce, and it’s done. Less heat in your RV too. You can even heat the sauce in the microwave after it’s thawed.

Smart to carry that water! We always have 2 cases. I recommend the Clear20 rv inline water filter. That will take care of the whole rv. You can also use a Brita or a Berkey inside your kitchen but that is extra space you are losing in your rv. Edit to say that meal prep before your trip. At home we cook rice and spaghetti, precut or shred or veggies. Onions are usually cooked so I prechop those and seal in a food saver bag and freeze. Parboil potatoes for hash browns, food saver bags and freeze. We have fried rice or lo mein, calico beans and cornbread, bacon or sausage, eggs (cracked into an empty Gatorade bottle before or trip) and potatoes for breakfast. All the frozen stuff we throw into an ice chest and we pack those food saver bags in there, the more frozen packs the longer they will stay cold. Sorry such a long post but I am so excited to see your family enjoying that RV!

If kids are exposed regularly to junk food, they will want and crave it, it's designed to do that.. but if from an early age you incorporate "healthy snacks" and teach that yes, food is delicious and yummy, but our bodies are an engine that needs care and maintenance to perform at it's best. Food is fuel for our bodies. unfortunately "instant gratification" is the new norm, it's really not healthy for anyone.. Actually you could not be more wrong. As someone who has dealt with an eating disorder, (from both restrictive and binging ends of the spectrum), The more you are exposed to junk food, the less appealing it is. I lost 50 lb and I had cold soda always in the fridge, and junk food always in the pantry. Once I allowed myself to have it, it wasn't that appealing anymore and I no longer wanted to binge.

I think that teaching is a calling, just like nursing and pastoring.. people that usually aren't in the family can spot it in a child. I had several folks tell me that I should be a nurse and that is something I always wanted to do. When I was 17 I went to the local community college and took their test to get into nursing school (LVN). The instructor called me into her office and was very impressed at my score and told me that she would love to have me as a student and to make sure to keep my address updated because they had a waiting list for enrollment. I was SO excited. I went home and told my husband about it and his response was how dumb of me to think that I could go to school when I needed to be earning a paycheck instead (he was young also and I really think he was afraid I would get too much independence).. felt like someone had stuck a pin in me and deflated me. Being young and dumb, I listened to him and always regretted that I did not follow through. Years later I talked with him about it and told him of my regrets and didn't he wish that I had a higher earning job.. he agreed. Anyway, saw the same in my daughter with nursing. She went but dropped out very close to graduation due to personal reasons and I hope she gets back into it. Take care!

Foil pack meals are easy for campfire cooking! Lay your squares out for your packs I'd tripple layer then spray non stick add veggies then a protein fish/chicken/shrimp and then season and drizzle with olive oil. They are individual cook quickly and only require a eating utensil. Corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, and potatoes make easy wrap in tin foil season drizzle with oil things for campfire cooking too. I also saw where someone stuffed sugar spun ice cream cones with chocolate marshmallows etc then wrap in tinfoil and warm over fire. My family lived in an RV for two years my biggest advice is get damp rid containers and a dehumidifier, mold and moisture easily can become issues in RV's even when just used recreationally.

Hi! So I used to camp a lot with my family in an RV and so I feel like I have some experience 😂 I’ll give you my best tips and tricks I can think about right now. 1. Buy a separate set of measuring cups and measuring spoons just for the RV, they can be the super cheap ones but it is nice to not have to transfer them every time you take a trip. 2. Always take cheap flip flops or water shoes to shower in at the RV parks. I think that one is self explanatory. 3. Table cloths are GREAT for picnic tables, but they can also double as a mat on the ground for kiddos to play (if you buy the thicker table cloths) 4. Bring the food covers to keep bugs out of food when eating outside. 5. Do everything in your power to not heat up the RV too much while cooking. The oven and stove make it so steamy in an RV, best to use instant pots, crock pots, or just grill outside. 6. Related to how hot it gets in an RV, it is a really great investment to buy dehumidifiers to run constantly. Especially in the summer, it can get really muggy and hot which makes it hard to be in the RV much less get good sleep. 7. Ice machine. They make small ice machines and they are a life saver for hot days too make sure you always have a cold drink. I think that’s it… all I can think of right now anyways haha! For my recipe I like on RV trips, I enjoy chicken salad on croissants! Simple and delicious. Hope this helps

You don’t have to explain how you’re raising your kids. I think they have a well balanced diet from what I see (which is a small sliver). I actually strive to eat more like you. We have been buying AOT of fresh veggies and fruits recently. Which to me now peaches are a delicious “junk food” considering all the sugars in them. I eat peaches daily and it helps me stay away from the real junk food 🤣. Sorry if that makes no sense I’m dealing with some pregnancy brain right now

We tent camp but there are 2 meals we always take with us. The first is a chilli which I make in the crockpot a few days ahead and then cool and freeze. It thaws while we drive to our destination and then we just toss it on the fire or stove while we set up and it is ready to go. The second is banana pancakes. I make the batter ahead of time and freeze it flat in large ziplock bags. We let it thaw overnight and then just snip a corner of the bag off and it's ready and easy to pour onto the griddle and clean up is SO easy!

I have never heard a KZbinr say that their subbies say their kids don't get enough junk food lol 😁. Usually all people have to say is "your kids eat TOO MUCH JUNK!" lol. I very rarely comment but I do watch your videos, and I definitely feel that your kids get such a well rounded diet. Much better than how me and my daughter eat because we are not real big on veggies 😁

@@waitwhat9412 Yikes. Don’t forget you are judging them on the few minutes you see here on KZbin. Any parent with kids knows they are always hungry! And just looking at the kids it’s obvious they are healthy and thriving! It’s amazing how skewed our perception is when we live in a country full of obese children (and adults).

Omg you’ve given me so many healthy ideas! As for the RV make ahead meal prep. You already have that down pat! How ever many days your going on your RV trip use large throw away pans and make your normal breakfast casseroles, your normal meal prep that you show us each week! All of that can go into the throw away pans after it’s been fully cooked, then you can freeze the dish until you go on the trip itself. Just cover with tinfoil. Use a permanent marker to label the food so you know what your grabbing when your ready to eat. Right before dinner pull what ever you would like out of the RV fridge and bake until it’s heated through since everything is already cooked. No need to come up with brand new recipes or trying to rack you brain stressing over that. And lunch can be super easy with sandwiches or crackers and lunch meat. Hope this helps ☺️

Currently in our RV on a trip, tonight we had steak Caesar salads with garlic bread and tomorrow is grilled chicken, veggies and rice. We try and do most of the cooking on the outdoor grill, keeps it clean (less dishes) and easy! Have so much fun, we got our RV last year and love it.

We have been RV camping for many years. We love it with our 8 kids. Our motorhome has a similar layout to yours. For food, I freeze our meals in a ziploc bag so it takes up less freezer space. Then Dump it in the crock pot for the day. I also use crock pot liners for easy clean up and a rice cooker to make the crock pot meal stretch further. The oven, to me, is useless for a larger family. It cooks much slower and most pans won't fit in the oven. Have fun!

Sarah, thank you so much for showing us healthier options in our daily diets. I have totally changed how I purchase food and how I prepare it. Regarding RVing, we have been RVing for years. One thing I like to do is meal prep… Having at least your first meal at camp already made and ready to heat and serve is key. I like Pepper Bellies. Chili with cheese and onions and Fritos Corn Chips. Always a hit.

Paper plates/cups/etc are great when camping. As much as I prefer not adding to the landfills, those little sinks are hard to wash dishes in. We were only a family of 4 when we had a trailer and I tried to keep washing items to a minimum. I loved camping in a trailer when it came to food because I didn't feel like I had to do anything special or do different grocery shopping. We loaded ours from our kitchen/pantry every time with minimal extras that were special to camping (peanuts in the shell for around the campfire and s'mores ingredients). Our go to for camping was taco soup. I also purchased a griddle that I kept in the trailer. We plugged it in outside on a table and could make pancakes, eggs, grilled cheese, etc in a jiffy. Easy to wipe clean and stow away.

My personal opinion for my household is that if you keep "junk food" around it won't be as taboo. When you ban it they will only want it more. When it's around they can learn moderation and it won't be seen as something that's put on a pedestal.

There are +12 people in your house and they all celebrate birthdays and have cake for those times and those people have friends that celebrate birthdays as well not to mention church events. If you *NEVER* had junk in the house but had it for birthdays or events they would still be getting in plenty of sweets. I grew up in a large family and I know that if you want to feed growing humans and keep them full you need to buy in bulk, cook in bulk, and keep those costly treats as just that, treats. A bag of chips isn't expensive unless you have to feed +12 people with it.

I want to give you great food advice for the family based upon 23 years of camping multiple times a year, but I have to be upfront about things. A. I hate camping. It not something many people like to hear. I didn't start out hating it, but I can't lie to make others happy. My thoughts and feelings about camping might taint my advice. B. You will want to avoid things that use bowls. Spills in the trailer are a nightmare. Trying to wash dishes & not take out your fresh water tank & full up your grey tank is a constant struggle. C. I used to try to pack healthier options but my family would rather live on hotdogs and pop for days. It's gross. Everything is just gross and filthy in a matter of hours. Like I said. I'm not a fan, but I truly do hope you guys find your groove & have fun making memories.

Best camping purchase we’ve made are our chef mate stoves! We have 2, each Is a double burner. Then we have 2 pizza oven attachments for them. It makes cooking so much quicker and keeps the heat out of the camper from cooking. Pizza ovens are great for cooking foods besides pizzas in. I’ve even pulled those stoves out at home for canning and family gatherings.

We lived in an RV for a month as a family and I missed my big fridge for food storage. But just like Jill told you- the throw away pans are great and the crockpot and IP are great if you have easy dump meals as well. And often there’s power sources you can cook outside your RV so you can cook rice or potatoes in the IP and have meatballs, roasts, chicken, etc in another one and it won’t pull from the power of your RV.

We camp regularly, but with only 1 child so of course the food is easier, however I prep my meals as well in throw away containers and use my crock pot often so I’m not in the kitchen when I’d rather be outside and if everyone is running around the campground they can just eat when they’re hungry since it’s already warm and ready to eat! I also have home made lunchables and sandwiches and snacks prepped our son and friends can just grab and go! That pepper recipe looked amazing, I’ll have to try! Happy camping!!
