Hi Danno, was at Walmart today here in So. Cal and the prices are a tad different.....a little higher. Fresh produce was very low. Frozen Pizza's were extremely expensive by $2-$3 more than usual. They were out of a lot of things. Keep up the good work. Because of your information I've started going to Aldi, new to So Cal. Hi Jess!

Good morning - A heads up, if you are eating hot pockets, Sam's Club is the best price point. On sale now 13.88 for 20, making them .69 each (Reg price is 15.88, which is still a much better price per pocket). Have a good day everyone.

@@BrianK-zz4fk Yes, grocery stores have traditionally had low profit margins around 5%. But there have been MANY accusations of grocery stores padding the prices a little every time the manufacturers raise prices. Surely the increase in our, uh, foreign guests who pick our produce and meat producers can't possibly be the cause of the explosion of these contaminates, right? Just wait for your kids to start back to school in the fall. There's always a back-to-school outbreak of something and it's only increasing.

I buy a lot of groceries for my 91 year old mother, when she makes her list she's really out of touch with current grocery prices so the lists of items she wants is often expensive especially since she has brand preferences. I do what I can. Between helping my mom and buying groceries for my out of work job hunting ex I have had very little left for myself, luckily I had a lot of shelf stable foods, canned and boxed good bought during the pandemic that I've needed to eat. I am pretty sick of canned beans and pouches of Indian food. Also sick of bean and bacon soup, pork and beans and tomato soup, lol. I bought those by the 12 and 24 can cases, lol. I only have 2 remaining cans of tuna to get through, I might make tuna cakes with them. I probably will not eat a tuna sandwich for at least a year. At least I had plenty of food on hand so helping my mom and ex was possible. My mom still has 2 big aluminum trash cans full of shelf stable non perishable food I bought for her, pasta and beans, dried peas, instant mashed potatoes, rice, etc.. I wanted to make sure she could live for 6 months to a year or more if things got bad. Luckily no bugs because my chef friend told me about bay leaves to use to ward off the hatching of the bug eggs that are always in grains and beans. Anyway food prices are insane, I feel like there should be a loan department close to the meat section in stores now. I remember when hamburger was 33 cents a pound so paying close to $5.00 per pound seems crazy.

There is no reason to think this is Walmart’s fault. They are at the whims of commodities prices. Also individual commodities prices can go up higher than inflation, which is an average of many commodities. See oranges for an example. They are up 400% over the past few years due to issues with production, which makes the supply/demand curve unfavorable.
