Don't forget Ned Kelley in 1880 Glenrowan Australia. He wore a suit of armor fashioned from metal plow blades. Survived a gunfight only to be hung in Melbourne. The armor is on display in Australia, they have a reenactment of the gunfight in Glenrowan, which I watched back in 1990.

@tomcherry70293 ай бұрын
I disagree he used all types of handgun loads, most people are not shooting .44 mag out of a riffle. .223/5.56 , 7.62 ×39 , .30-06 , 7.62x51,308, all would have cut through it with ease. Not a good test

The problem with trying to make armor out of found or household objects is the material is in no way created or rated for that kind of abuse, and if it does work, you'll have no way to know that it will work with the next batch of cutting boards or whatever. It makes intuitive sense that plastic cutting boards might work. They're high density polyethylene after all, and seem pretty tough. The problem is that it's still a far less dense PE than armor grade and there's a lot more that goes into the equation. With UHMWPE armor plates, they're actually a composite build of specific PE fibers in a matrix of specific resins chosen for the job at specific ratios.
@ErickaC-mc7vg4 ай бұрын
That's the entire point of the video, seeing if everyday household items that AREN'T specifically made to be bullet proof can stop bullets.

Remember, the plastic in BP windows is mainly to hold it together. Isn't it the glass fracturing that deals with the kinetic energy?
@TheArmorFarm4 ай бұрын
From what I understand it does a bit of both. The bullet loses energy at every change of layer because there is some elastic deformation that can absorb additional energy. That's why they alternate layers. But the glass definitely does most of the heavy lifting!

PAN SHOT Also, .44 mag is already a major step up in pistol calibres. Out of a rifle though? Not even Lvl IIIA will stop a .44 mag out of a rifle. A more accurate test would be all pistols, and then with a fresh target, step up to all pistol carbines.
@TheArmorFarm4 ай бұрын
That definitely would make the test better. Unfortunately I don't currently have a 44 mag pistol in my collection. I would love to in a future video test the differences in energy between rounds shot out of a pistol vs rifle.
@IvanhoeWolfe-zn6fc4 ай бұрын
There is a sizable different between a revolver and a rifle in 44 mag . Through I don't like rifles chambered in handgun rounds. Imo just own a rifle round. I don't like 30 carbine for the same reason. The only exception is the .22lr.

Now, after his first wacky prank and the ammunition has run out, Mr Beast, in further hilarious hijinks herds the survivors into an abandoned, ransacked city and gives each one a good fighting knife. Now people are scrambling to fashion stab-proof armour out of everyday items found in a half-looted city. Of course, starvation has set in because all the grocery stores have been destroyed in Mr Beast first goofy scheme. The armour must be flexible because you will spend a lot of time running for your life and wriggling into hiding spaces. Good luck with the channel. Cheers!

I have always wanted to try shopping bags. They are really strong for carrying items, and wondering how a couple of inches of them would do against handgun rounds. Actually, if you were going to make homemade body armor, it would need to be something you might wear, so size and weight would be factors, so maybe 1 to 1 1/2 inch of shopping bags, held together by tape. And if this stopped the slower rounds, then I am think because they are light weight, that adding a 1/8 in sheet of steel in front might give it strength to stop the faster rounds, without being being bulky or heavy.
@TheArmorFarm4 ай бұрын
I know high density plastic is pretty good at stoping rounds. So enough plastic bags might work.🤔

Myth busters did a show on shooting into water and how deep you need to be to be safe from getting shot and surprisingly enough the 22 cal was the only caliber that posed a threat…… Even the 50 cal basically exploded on impact as did pretty much every caliber bullet they shot simply explode on impact and safely fall to the bottom of the pool they were in
@TheArmorFarm4 ай бұрын

@athenathegreatandpowerful63654 ай бұрын
@@TheArmorFarminteresting maybe, but far from surprising. A .22 round is tiny. It'll get through a lot more than a larger caliber (which, in it's favor, does make a big hole). Archer's killed a TON of mailed fighters for the same reason.
