Quick tip ... as a groomer with time I’ve learn that Dogs in that kind of condition you have to do first a good blow dry first to get off the most undercoat you can , then you have to brush so the hair is not that tight together and the water can go thru all that , you want to use “Down” is not harm for dogs and is the Best for dogs like that because that kind of hair tends to get greasy , you want the water and shampoo to go thru the coat and undercoat till the skin so the dog really gets a deep wash cleaning , during the bathing you want to use a brush and while scrubbing and brushing you clean the hair and skin of the dog 🐕 , you want to use a brush too while rinsing the dog because it helps to remove even more undercoat , by then the dog is very clean you have taken most of the undercoat out and he’s ready for the blow dry , as he’s that clean it shouldn’t take too long to dry the dog because his hair and undercoat are not greasy which that is the factor that makes blow dry takes long . Once you are doing the blow dry you will notice that there’s not many hair flying around because most of it you took it off on the tub 🛁. Long story short , to do a double coat dogs basically takes more than two hours depending on his coat. Not trying to tell you how to do your job , just posting here so people see how hard is to groom a dog like that . Btw good job 👍

Wow poor baby! He must feel so much better. I have labradoodles that are 11 yes old. They typically are groomed once a month. But now they are getting older and are having a hard time standing that long and I can see for a few days after they have a hard time getting around. What is the best thing I can do for them regarding grooming? The groomers I use do not really have any solutions?

There's many many ways to groom elder dogs if they have trouble standing. Finding the right groomer can be difficult. Do your research, and talk to many groomers. A lot of groomers are not taking new clients right now. My advice is brush them and treat them like you don't know them. Why? Dogs pick up on emotional attachments and will pull your heart strings. Keep going, and with time you'll see they will respect you.

My newfie has really matted fur on her rear (the long hair on the back of her legs, by her tail). Should I go ahead and shave the matted fur or try to comb it out?? Not even sure I can comb it since it's so matted back there... advice? Thanks for this video!

If you and your dog have a positive relationship, it is up to you. If you feel uncomfortable ask a groomer and/ or vet. Where is the matting?

@@GoneGrooming what brand of trimmer are you using? I have a Newfoundland and sometimes in the summer my boy gets mats that I shave out. That trimmer seems to work alot better than mine.
